Is the Romney campaign even trying? How do you completely fail to vet your "I didn't get no money from the gubmint" guy at all?

yep
Most of the time a candidate releases them, but you never hear anything, because they are uneventful.
They are far more meaningful than college records though, unless someone was in college the previous year. Romney has tons of unsavory things without the tax records, but i'd bet some of the more speculative things about Romney would just be confirmed.7/25/2012 1:00:51 AM |

That’s a slight change – within the margin of error – from last month’s poll, which showed Obama ahead by three points, 47 percent to 44 percent." |

Barring some kind of political disaster for Obama, I just can't see how the majority of Americans will vote for Romney. As time goes on, we're just going to learn more unappealing things about Romney, and he's going to continue to be a country-club douchebag which is not going to win over the average person. 7/26/2012 2:48:14 AM |

LOL and they oversampled Democrats by 11% in this poll. The media will do whatever it takes to make it look like Obama is winning and gaining momentum. Also the most accurate polling is done on LIKELY VOTERS, not registered voters.
Plus the only polling that really matters in right now is the polling in swing states like Florida, Ohio, Virginia, Penn, etc. That is where the election will be won and lost.7/26/2012 9:37:14 AM |

The electoral math for this election gets simpler by the day. At this point, you can cut through all the bullshit and look at one state: Ohio. While Obama can win without Ohio, Romney has no chance. That is why the media keeps referring to Ohio as a "tossup", when in reality it's been solidly polling for Obama from the gun. They can't hype this "horse race" if one of them has a broken leg. Until that changes, the only thing worth discussing is whether Obama's margin of victory will be lesser or greater than 2008. 7/26/2012 2:00:26 PM |

^^ I like Nate Silver's blog on the NYT. I don't really like looking at national polls anyway. As we can all remember from 2000 the popular vote doesn't mean shit, it's all about the electoral.
yall should check it out. And yes Romney is gaining ground. According to Silver he now has a 23.3% chance of winning, this is up from 18.7% on July 18th

Quote : | "Romney Taps Former Paulson Aide, Fannie Mae Vet For Bain Rehab
Michele Davis was at Hank Paulson's right hand during the 2008 financial crisis.
She was portrayed by the actress Cynthia Nixon in the film Too Big to Fail.
But Davis will also bring some very high-profile baggage to Romney's campaign. She arrived at Treasury from Fannie Mae, the giant, government-backed firm that backs a large share of the nations mortgages.
She was vice president for regulatory policy at Fannie Mae from 2002 to 2006, and is listed as a registered lobbyist for the troubled and controversial entity — which made a practice of keeping a bipartisan squad of Washington insiders on payroll — in 2004. (Indeed, Mitt Romney attacked rival Newt Gingrich for taking payments from Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae's sibling entity.)
In her role, Davis defended Fannie Mae's independence, despite substantial tax advantages: She was quoted in Newsday that year saying the entity "does not receive a penny of funding from the government" or any subsidy. She also served at Fannie Mae during a time in which it was found to have doctored its earnings statements to juice executives' bonuses, for which it paid a massive $400 million in penalties." |

Quote : | "Romney: Sick People May Live, If They Move to Massachusetts
You know the woman in the Priorities USA ad , the one who Mitt Romney sorta-kinda-indirectly-eventually killed? Her husband was laid off by a Bain-controlled firm in 2001, when Romney was technically in charge of the firm but not making day-to-day decisions. She still had health care through her job, but then she lost it, and — with both spouses having lost their insurance — got sick and died. Intel Dan calls the ad a lie. I’d call it an extremely tenuous chain of causality.
Romney spokesperson Andrea Saul offered up a different rebuttal. She would have had health insurance, if she had lived in Massachusetts:
“To that point, if people had been in Massachusetts, under Governor Romney’s health care plan, they would have had health care,” Andrea Saul , Romney’s campaign press secretary, said during an appearance on Fox News. “There are a lot of people losing their jobs and losing their health care in President [Barack] Obama’s economy.”
Conservatives are already freaking out here. (Erick Erickson : “OMG. This might just be the moment Mitt Romney lost the election.”) " |

Fear mongering bullshit? Seems like a legitimate complaint to me. Bain lays off workers, profits from it, causes a woman to die and the Romney campaign's response is "well, should have had the health plan that's almost identical to the one we're demonizing Obama for?" 8/9/2012 4:58:55 PM |

It's very disingenuous to say that Romney was responsible though. It would be much more correct to say that her death was a very unfortunate consequence of being laid off from a company Romney owned. I'm sure this happens all the time in the US and there's more value in pointing out how people losing their jobs and health insurance negatively impacts them than saying Romney killed her. 8/9/2012 5:15:40 PM |

Quote : | "2004In the 2004 presidential election, "Rasmussen...beat most of their human competitors in the battleground states, often by large margins," according to Slate magazine.[37] Rasmussen projected the 2004 presidential results within one percentage point of the actual vote totals earned by both George W. In 2004, Slate said they “publicly doubted and privately derided Rasmussen” polls because of the methodology. However, after the election, they concluded that Rasmussen’s polls were the most accurate.[37]
[edit] 2008According to Politico, "Rasmussen’s final poll of the 2008 general election — showing Obama defeating Arizona Sen. John McCain 52 percent to 46 percent — closely mirrored the election’s outcome."[39] In reference to the 2008 presidential election, a Talking Points Memo article said, "Rasmussen's final polls had Obama ahead 52%-46%, which was nearly identical to Obama's final margin of 53%-46%, and made him one of the most accurate pollsters out there."[40]" |
