Anyone ever been in the Georgia Dome before? I don't know anything about it. Is it always enclosed or is it retractable like the Brewers Stadium?

I'm trying to figure out how hot it's going to be inside.

I don't think it's retractable. I've been several times for bowl games and kickoff games and never been hot inside, sometimes a little chilly.

It's fully enclosed. Hasn't been that hot in the soccer and bball games I've been to. Only football game I've been to there was the Peach Bowl vs Mississippi State and I don't remember being hot at that game. Just wishing the cowbells would stop.

no it will be very hot. you should wear a bikini and tanktop and be prepared to take off the tanktop by the end of the second set of downs

twirling a towel around your head will help to cool you and nearby people off, as well. I'm the sure the people sitting around you will appreciate that

I'm really hoping Issac doesn't fuck this up for me. Months of waiting for this game and I might have to stay in Miami and work if the storm messes things up

FYI the best place to tailgate for the GA Dome is in the food court in the CNN building. they have 32 oz beers for $5 (if memory serves me correctly)

We moved to Hickory about 8 months ago, and of course the "good" (not basic) cable package doesn't come with ESPNU. I'd have to spent like $20 extra a month to get that shit.

Looks like I'll be hooking up my laptop to the TV.

How's the MARTA? I don't really want to pay 40 bucks to park at the stadium, but I don't wanna lose my life either.

MARTA is fine. Just allow plenty of time and expect it to be crowded.

Good, it can't be any worse than DC or Philly's. I thought I'd ask b/c the front desk lady at the hotel we're staying at said to avoid it.

a lot of times you have to sit next to black people and sometimes homeless people even ask you for money. Stay away.

Or sometimes you get drunk, pass out and end up on the last Metro to Anacostia.

I've used public transportation in DC, San Diego, Oakland, Tokyo, Yokohama, and I've never had an issue with any of them. I can't imagine Atlanta will be any different. You guys are some fucking pussies

Since i am getting numerous PMs...For all you visitors, here are my recommendations:

MARTA - you'll be fine, but it will be crowded as hell before and especially after the game. Don't drive drunk, they have really been cracking down hardcore lately. Plus there will be 250,000 visitors to the city that weekend, you will NOT want to drive even if totally sober
The Vortex - several of you have PM'd me asking about it... one of the more hyped places, been on TV a lot, crazy burgers, worth going to if you haven't been but I would recommend the original location (Midtown) over the more famous location (Little 5 Points). It's close to a MARTA stop and probably close to where some of you are staying.
Cypress Street Pint and Plate - also in Midtown (my hood), gasto pub, great beer selection, good food, nice deck.
Noodle Midtown - great sangria, ask for Jess bartender
The Highlander - my favorite bar, total dive, but great food, punk/metal crowd. Go the bartender Michael, long blond hair, looks like Spicoli, order Kraken shots and chances are he will do them with you and give you several free.
Clermont Lounge - must see if you haven't been. Just go
10High - in Virigina Highlands, underneath the Darkhorse Taverb, location of Karaoke. I hate karaoke and I love this shit. Nothing is recorded, all live, full stage show. Gets insanely packed on Saturdays.
Quad - if you want to go to a hardcore dance club this is it. Open until 5am. Sometimes later.
MJQ - another great club, will be slammed this weekend.
Breakfast on Saturday - Homegrown on Memorial. Amazing sausage gravy. Cheap. So bad for you, but so good. F2Oon Peacthree in Midtown has a brunch omelet bar until 2pm. Expensive but good.
DragonCon Parade - downtown Saturday, great people watching, worth it
Rathbun's - my favorite restaurant, but only go if you are wanting a fancier, more expensive meal, not a "wonder in with your TA McClendon jersey on" type of place
SeƱor Patron - just opened in my building, they are still getting the word out so they have crazy specials. They have $5 Patron margaritas, and $3 Patron shots

^What is your take on stats? My friend waits there and has my crew setup to pregame. It was on TV and a big time magazine as one of the best watering holes in the country.

Trying to decide on going. Have an offer to crash in a buddy's room but would be sitting by myself. Where is the cheapest place to buy a ticket from right now. Saw some on stub hub for about $75 with shipping.

^^^ Stats is good, especially if you know somewhere there as it gets packed. I tend to avoid it thought because the location is TOO close, you go there and end up waiting for a table for half your time, but it sounds like you got that taken care of so you should be good to go.

^ small chance I might have an extra... will let you know. Otherwise I would go to the ticket section of a NC State or UT website/forum

Quote :
"Junior WR Da'Rick Rogers has transferred from Tennessee to Tennessee Tech and took part in team meetings on Sunday.

Rogers was indefinitely suspended by head coach Derek Dooley last week after he reportedly violated the school's substance abuse policy. The junior had previously considered transferring to Georgia State this past spring after having multiple run-ins with coaches, even throwing tantrums on the sideline during games according to CBS Sports' Bruce Feldman. Rogers is an ultra talented receiver and will need to stay on track at his new home. Tennessee Tech recently graduated a receiver with NFL talent in Tim Benford, who led the program in receiving for four straight years. We believe Rogers is eligible to play immediately. "
