you can claim another plot. you can abandon what you did, too. then anyone can take over.... or you can wait for a seaport.

power is kind of a pain in the ass... so working toward the gigantic solar array in the great works might be beneficial, too

I'm playing this too. I've spent mostly of my time playing on a private server (basically single player). It seems like intra-regional dependency is critical, at least as far as utilities are concerned. Trading sewer for garbage/recycling or something like that seems like a good idea. Services can bankrupt the shit out of you once you start getting the upper level buildings. I got one city up to ~130k before I just got stuck financially. Now I've moved on to my second one, I think I'm going to shoot for a commercial/tourism city.

Has anyone messed around with the coal/oil/ore stuff yet? Seems very profitable.

I don't know why so many people had such high hopes for Spore. I always knew it would be lame.

It's like 10 minigames of different genres smashed together to make one game, of course every one of them is going to be extremely shallow compared to a real game in that genre.

I can go either way on whether or not I'd call it worth it, yet.

It has potential to be fun. But I haven't really had a chance to find the intricacies of the game yet. If you have a group, like tww where there's a couple people who want to cooperate with each other, the region system can be pretty fun. If I had no friends and just wanted to do my own thing, I might be let down.



I don't particularly get some of the knocks on it. Server issues aside, regional dependence is pretty smart. Its how things work. You have tourist towns,industrial towns, etc. I think a lot of complaints outside of size, and server issues all stem from not being able to play it thensame way you always did. There's different strategy to it, now.
