^^That's great and all...but you're still only doing a portion of the race. 2/10/2013 10:37:21 PM |

Yeah, I think its awesome for the children's hospital, but EVERY road race is for a charity/awareness. I just talk to too many people that run whatever time, but eat no donuts, a few, six, eight, etc. Not trying to be a hater, I just don't understand. It seems like the first few years everyone was in it for the challenge aspect, now its like 75% casual runners. 2/10/2013 10:44:17 PM |

makes you wonder how many were challengers before and were all FUCK THIS SHIT, I'm not doing that again, yet continue to support the cause as a casual runner? 2/10/2013 10:51:33 PM |

Umm...they have any option to just make a donation. I'm just saying if you're taking the time to go out there and run, might as well try to complete the challenge. 2/10/2013 11:01:03 PM |

I guess. But I'm trying to lose weight and 2400 calories of sugar is not diet food
So k. I did it last year. Decided to just do casual this year. Why is that such a big deal? 2/11/2013 7:13:35 AM |

Donuts or no donuts, the race officials give the option unlike the mud runs so that comparison is silly.
Heck, getting through the hills and puke piles was enough of a challenge for me

I agree that it if you aren't eating the doughnuts you are pretty much wasting your time. 2/11/2013 8:14:32 AM |

maybe they have diabetes but still want to participate?
maybe they are trying to lose weight but still want to participate?
maybe they want to help charity and know they can't finish in time so choose to run casually? 2/11/2013 8:20:39 AM |

maybe their friends are doing it and they like to be social with them?
maybe it's their first time and they realize they can't finish the doughnuts but want to finish the best they can?
maybe they aren't internet tuff guys and want to spend an enjoyable morning doing a popular social activity without the pressure of the time limit? 2/11/2013 8:24:36 AM |

I wasn't really looking for a debate, I think its a great cause and the more people the better. I was simply saying it used to be a big deal to try to break the hour and eat all 12. Now literally every person I talk to doesn't eat all 12. I just wanted to point out it is losing the "challenge" aspect, maybe it should just be called the krispy kreme run. 2/11/2013 10:15:14 AM |

the distance used to be significantly shorter, so the race isn't the most accurate representation of the original challenge anymore 2/11/2013 11:57:02 AM |

Also, I agree: They should do something to increase the "challenge" aspect. The same thing happened with all these mud-runs - once the popularity increased and everyone wanted to "complete the challenge", they became more of a novelty and less of a challenge. Can't swing a dead cat without hitting the "toughest mud run ever made*"

Well...that's why if I took the results seriously, I am going to discount at least half the people above me who "challenged", because I don't think they really ate all the donuts.
But it is a FUN RUN, challenger or not. If you want times and recognition, then you run competitive 5ks/half marathons/marathons...
I pretty much have accepted, if there are costumes, my times really mean shit except for Personal Records. 2/12/2013 11:36:50 AM |

if you're not eating the donuts, you're a prick.
unless you have a medical condition. then you should have to eat something else.
