Now the fun game of seeing which ones of you sell and are happy, which ones get greedy and lose all their profit, and which ones chase it only to be on the wrong end of the dump.

In the car Friday I heard that a 787 caught fire at Heathrow and BA stock took a big hit as a result. Pulled over and bought Jan 110 and Feb 105 calls.

Today they announced that the fire was not battery related and the calls are up 28% and 35% respectively. If the stock breaks 108 again I'll likely sell Feb 110 calls to match the bought 105 calls.

So Walter what is you target point for INO? I've still got my small play in it, but haven't purchased anymore. What are the company's next steps for this new vaccine??

I tried to get in on BA as well but just didnt have the cash free and didnt wanna sell anything off at that point to free it up. Wish I had was going to buy July 100 calls when it was near 99 which would have worked out really well.

I'm not selling until it gets to $20 ...I have been accumulating since it was mid $0.50's and will continue to do so.

Since the all of their products are in the trial stages, it will get bumps mainly on news/clinical results for the time being. There are a shit load of vaccines in development and they've have been known to release information without notice, so news could come out at any time. They also expect a big partnership this year (Merck/Gates Foundation?) and have Phase 2 results coming out early next year.

Looks like I'm going to have small chunks of INTC and MSFT put to me at the end of the day and I'm keeping the AAPL that I had $430 calls on.

I'm cool with all three.

another question....i am thinking about buying some schwab MFs. Is it not the right time? I plan to keep adding money to that account monthly.

I tried to open Vanguard account but from their website, i cant open an account (non resident alien on a job visa). Its confusing how resident versus non resident alien is defined so i dint go that route. I already have a schwab account.

Well on the bright side my covered July 4.50 AMD calls arent gonna get called away. The bad news is thats because it tanked for much more than the downside protection I got from selling them

Sold some puts on YHOO with it down to $29.20 this afternoon.

I did a boring momentum play last month and bought in at $24.84 and sold a July $25 call for $0.82 on 6/25. Missed a big upside, but I'll take 4% in a month considering how little I've followed the stock lately.

Also sold calls on half of my GE.

Dammit, should have gone out another month and caught the dividend.

Sold 110 calls at $5.60 today after paying $5.40 for 105 calls 10 days ago.

So on Feb 22 if the stock is below 105 I'm up $.20/share and buy nothing.
Between 105 and 110 I buy the stock with a cost basis of $104.80/share regardless of where it is.
Over 110 then I pocket $5.20/share and don't buy anything.

Still holding onto the Jan $110 calls, I just wanted to remove some risk ahead of earnings Wednesday morning.

WTF Scottrade? I can understand not allowing sale of naked calls or something, but why would they not allow selling puts to open, within the limits of cash available to purchase, if not within the account's margin limits?

I called the branch office; the girl there said that selling puts to open is considered a "level IV" options trade, and they currently offer only levels I and II. They are working to expand their options trading by late fall or early next year. I might have to look into other brokerages.

Oh, BOOM. Just called USAA; they offer trades discounted to $5.95 if you keep a certain dollar amount in their house funds. I'll just sell some Vanguard/T.Rowe Price index funds and buy the USAA equivalents, and that should put me over the threshold.

They also offer all levels of options trading, and are going to include free level-2 quote streaming starting in January.

They're also overhauling the interface in October, supposedly making it much more user-friendly (which has been part of why I haven't used my USAA brokerage account for active trading previously. It's clunky and frustrating to use.)

^ I use USAA for everything (insurance, banking, ROTHs, brokerage, etc). I don't have enough in my brokerage though to get the $5.95 trades so mine are $8.95 I think. I don't trade enough for it to be a big deal though. Current interface is awful compared to alternatives, but I just use other sites for charts and stuff and then make my trade at USAA.

FYI, the threshold is across all accounts, total (i.e., USAA funds in both your Roth and taxable brokerage acct both count together).
