Does anyone have NHL Gamecenter? I'm thinking about subscribing, but only if I can watch many/most of the canes games the following day. Is this possible?

Yeah, I thought Boychuk was looking miles ahead shape-wise compared to everyone else in the Florida opener. Bowman was also moving around with pretty good speed.

Just so many obvious problems with this team - most of which could have been guessed beforehand. Not rocket science, but if our blue line stopped playing like dipshits in our own zone, both our forwards and whoever is in goal would be a lot better off.

"These look like the lines for tomorrow, which were pretty much the lines I had in mind before the season so I like it:

Tlusty - EStaal - Semin
Skinner - JStaal - Dalpe
Bowman - Jokinen - LaRose
Dwyer - Brent - Welsh/Westgarth

Faulk - Gleason
Pitkanen - McBain
Corvo - Harrison"

why is Tlusty on the first line? is it just the latest experiment of "Let's Try to Find Linemates Eric Staal Can Play Well With?"

If I recall correctly, Tlusty played with E. Staal quite a bit last year on the first line, and did pretty well (for Hurricane forward standards). 17 G 19 A

Also, one thing I enjoy about this thread compared to the rest of Sports Talk - The past page has consisted of pretty good discussion, and not a lot of bullshit (if we could just get face to stay away).

Yeah Tlusty looked pretty damn good playing with Staal during the second half of last season. Good nose for the net and not a liability in his own zone. He was a 1st round pick so I think there's at least some hope that he is finally blooming.

Hmmm...our defense sure looks like a dumpster fire. Wonder who I should call about that...

If you are in the canes broadcast area the blackouts on gamecenter last for 48 hours. I just pulled up the game from last night and it just tells me to check back 48 hours after the game is played. If you are outside the broadcast area games should be available the next day.

that's funny because everytime i start good discussions in every thread in sports talk i get trolled away by a bunch of malcontents.

All i see is constant opinions of the line shuffling in this thread

^ Shut up Meg.

I thought Tlusty was a 3rd-liner last year? When was he promoted?

See the greatest game day thread of all time before it gets axed by the Buffalo-fan board owner, which I imagine will happen before I wake up in the morning http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/showthread.php?t=1331427

I know a lot of the fanbase thinks Buffalo is public enemy #1, but I care a lot more about Washington than I do Buffalo.

Why was McBain ever out in the first place?

http://blogs.newsobserver.com/canes/muller-makes-defensive-switches-for-sabres

Quote :
"Muller is making Joe Corvo a healthy scratch for tonight's game. Jamie McBain, who sat out the first two games, will be paired with Joni Pitkanen, and Bobby Sanguinetti with Jay Harrison. Tim Gleason and Justin Faulk will stay together."

Quote :
"Cam Ward will be in goal tonight, although it's possible Dan Ellis could start tomorrow against the Sabres in Buffalo. Muller said the decision would wait until after tonight's game."

Quote :
"The lines tonight will have Eric Staal centering Jiri Tlusty and Alex Semin; Jordan Staal centering Jeff Skinner and Zac Dalpe; Jussi Jokinen at center with Drayson Bowman and Chad LaRose. Muller said he would wait until game time before deciding on the fourth line, but it appears it will be Tim Brent centering Kevin Westgarth and Pat Dwyer."

not sure what needed to be fixed. Perhaps you don't know that Gleason's current wife is Ott's ex-wife.

Four goal period, two by Skinner, one by Staal, a short handed goal by Faulk, and two goals were scored 10 seconds apart. Just what the doctor ordered

She is improving. Still uses weird phrasing (during the score rundown all the scoreless games were "tied at zero") but she doesn't sound terrified anymore.

Man, Skinner is so damn good with puck handling. If he continues to improve at his age he can easily be a HOF candidate by the end of his career.

It was so fucking satisfying watching Sabres fan head for the exits before the clock hit zero.

Also - Skinner

(I also thought Bowman looked good tonight)

Of course after sitting through the first two debacles i missed last night's game.

How'd that old song go?

Carolina's got a hockey team,
With Martin Gelinas and Kevin Dineen,
We're gonna shoot the puck and score some goals,
Bates Battaglia up the 5-hole!
C'mon, C'mon, C'mon Let's GO!

God i hate that song

Bowman and Joni looked great, Dalpe looked fast

That play Joni made to setup Staal's 2nd goal bought him a few games without ridicule

I think the biggest improvement last night was the physicality. The Canes were hitting and forechecking very well.

I'm confident that this team will continue to mesh, and we can be excited again. The Skinner backhander was dirty. I also thought Staal's break was great. I love the side tuck under move.

That song reminds me of the Carolina Panthers song... just awful, but forced to love it.
