Been that way since the deal started. At least it's not games 1&2 or 3&4 anymore like it has been previously. Casual fans are more likely to become aware of the series with game 1 on broadcast, but you also don't have to worry about the cup being clinched on cable with game 4.

This is so fucking dumb and I hate nbc. I always hate it when they steal games from nesn, but this is just the worst. The playoffs are THE single biggest way new fans get pulled into hockey. if any game was gonna draw them in it was that fucking awesome game 1 and then if they get all excited for game 2 only to find out they cant watch it cause they don't have the channel, no one wins. NBC doesn't get the viewers and the NHL loses new fans. so fucking dumb.
