He was scrambling for his life most of the game... i don't think this loss was on him.

His first throw was a pick that pretty much gave MSU all the momentum.

Not sure anyone is blaming the game on him. But it still holds true that he's not a good player.

I'd argue that he's an above average college quarterback. Is he great, or even really good? Not overall, although he had some great games.

It could have been a lot worse (see two seasons ago).

Sure it could of been worse. But I can't put him at average. he's too scared to throw, and he can't throw it accurately. Anything over 10 yards is a prayer for him.

catapulted to a 3rd round prospect. Word is that the Cardinals and Cowboys are big on Jacoby

He was like 5/6 for 50 yds. I recorded it & watched the 1st 3 quarters but he hasn't played. 4th quater = 4th best QB.

As an aside, I think it's the week of practice where the meet/talk to coaches & scouts that means more than the game. Jason Garrett coached one team, the north I think, so if ^ is right, he must have looked good all week which contradicts him playing 4th, so you go figure???

The cowboys website has an old scout who writes columns now. He keeps talking about Jacoby being a good project. I just don't see it after the last two years but hope he proves me wrong.

JB measured in at 6-4 231 & ran a 4.94 40.

Conversely, Tuney measured in at 6-4 304 & ran a 4.86 40

Just watched JB throw a little. He threw 3 10 & outs to the right sideline & went 3 for 3.

Kurt Warner on his combine performance:

"I don't know a lot about Brissett but I like what I've seen with his understanding of... I haven't seen him throw one ball that's 100 mph but he's got a nice touch, plenty of velocity on his balls & does a nice job of allowing his receivers to adjust"

Other guy on his tape:

"To many takes, to many sacks directly attributable to a lack of anticipation but he makes every throw and he's somebody I'd like to look at as a midround developmental guy"

Thuney ran a 4.95 per NFL.com (second fastest for an OL) but still, that's pretty turrible for brisket

Holy slow...I wonder what a true dual threat guy would have done in our system then considering how much he ran.

I think Jacoby's ceiling would be Alex Smith with a slightly better deep ball. Not saying he can't make it work but I wouldn't expect a miracle to happen

The folks on the nfl.com's combine site compaired him to crab-boy:

Quote :
"
NFL COMPARISON
Brett Hundley
BOTTOM LINE
With his size, arm and competitiveness, there are times when Brissett will remind you of Jameis Winston, but Winston understood the nuances of the position early in his college career while Brissett is still learning. Brissett?s overall ability as a passer is NFL-caliber and he should continue to show rapid improvement on the next level with better weapons and protection. While an NFL staff will need to help him overcome his bad habits and learn to be more consistent with his pre-snap recognitions, Brissett has the tools to become an NFL starter."

Projected by different sights as a likely 6th rd pick.

Whats a 6th rd QB get?

No QB went in the 6th round in 2015, but Tajh Boyd went in the 6th in 2014 and his rookie deal was worth "$2.3 million on his first four-years , including a $78,680 signing bonus.Only the signing bonus is fully guaranteed up-front, but if the rookie stays on the Jets' roster, Boyd's 2014 salary is $420,000, rising each ensuing season to $510,000, $600,000 and $690,000 in 2017 if he remains active. "

So ya, range rover

not really. he's still probably a 3rd round pick at best.

most everyone has him rated behind cook and lynch, but ahead of the rest. except morons who love shit-ass hackenberg. (IM LOOKING AT YOU MEL KIPER)

Garoppolo.

But his contract runs out in 2017. He could be heir to the cheatriot throne.

Or just another Brady backup that cashes in on free agency.

Happy for Brissett. Dude isn't ever going to be a regular starter so landing on the Pats where he can hide behind a superstar and collect paychecks is a great gig. If he can stick around for 4-5 years, I'd consider that a great outcome given his lack of accuracy and pocket presence.

Maybe Jeanine Garafalo gets hurt in the preseason and suddenly Brissett is battling some washed up veteran FA to be the week 1 starter. That would be epic because fuck the Pats.

The pats usually only carry 2 qb so this makes sense.. backup for weeks 1-4 then they could throw him on practice squad to give him a year to show anything. Be interesting to see if belichick has any alternate uses for him

I don't see him as an nfl qb but we had so little talent and our system maybe didn't allow him to flourish as a passer.

I predict 0 career nfl attempts but i wouldn't be shocked if he gets a few. 0 starts though.

Then again none of us really thought he'd get picked this high if we hadnt seen the rankings im sure. Something doesn't add up

"Brissett started out with the Florida Gators under offensive coordinator Charlie Weis- who used to serve as Bill Belichick's offensive coordinator. Through Weis, Brissett became close with Bill Parcells- Belichick's old mentor- and the two have remained in contact with Parcells serving as his adviser through the draft process.

It seems clear that Parcells influenced Belichick with this pick."

Why pay an agent 3% to negotiate what is essentially a predetermined contract? The way rookie contracts are now, there's not much an agent could do that Brissett can't on his own ( especially with advisement from Parcells).

his advanced accuracy expertmetrics show he had a 142 while all other senior D-1 quarterbacks averaged a 127

accuracy was never his problem

How much difference does it make that the Pats picked him instead of a team like the Browns, Raiders, Jags etc...

^^in terms of how the pick is viewed? yeah it makes a lot of difference. the Pats have earned the benefit of the doubt over the years and i definitely think that if the browns had drafted Jacoby there'd be a lotta people laughing at the Browns and we'd all be saying "poor Jacoby".

The Pats have made some god awful QB picks before, Kevin OConnell comes to mind - he was basically a poor man's Jake Locker, which is really saying something.

^sure. but the Pats have been so successful (and have gotten some back up QBs paid) over the years that i think when it comes to drafting and free agency, people give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they are gonna get it right.
