How appropriate that the angels clinch with an As loss to the rangers... At home

Yet another soul crushing defeat today.

Honestly doubting they'll win 3/4 at TEX. They've won 10/11 games and I can't remember the last time the A's won more than two games in a row, let alone swept a team on the road. If Seattle gets swept, the A's will limp into the playoffs, but I have very little hope at this point.

So I guess since Seattle lost yesterday, the magic number is 2. How freaking sad is that we only have to go .500 against TEX to still get a WC game. What a disaster of a season.

LOL

We could very well lose the next two games and wind up playing at Seattle for a tie breaker. That said, the magic number is 1 now.

Called it. We will likely lose to the Rangers and have to play the Me on the road for a shot at a play on game

do we witness the greatest collapse in baseball history today?

I say this because you know if the A's lose today and go to seattle for the play-in, they're done

also the angels have actual incentive to lose todays game to Seattle as it makes one of the two teams they probably will end up playing play an extra game

I don't think the Angels want to face Seattle in a 5 game series. I hope they throttle the Ms since the A's are bound to lose

thinking back on a second half where trades were questionable. The angels were bound to win the West, only no one knew this 2 months ago.the Athletics were bound to play in this game on Tuesday it seems, and how brilliant is it that we have Jon Lester starting on the mound for us in a game in which only chance offense is really what will decide the victor...

@KC too. Just gotta hope to strike early. Once they get to their bullpen with a lead, it's over.

They also have 2 of the 3 fastest players in baseball as pinch runners which is more of a weapon than one would think

I'm just glad we made the playoffs to avoid the biggest collapse in history. I have no hope that we will score more than one run tomorrow.

meh

this year's epic meltdown wasn't nearly as painful as last year's game 5 loss to DET or the previous year's game 5 loss to DET

i'd like to think of it in hurricane terms vs tornado terms. the past two years was like having your home suddenly ripped up by an F5 tornado when you thought everything was going to be fine. this season was like watching a hurricane slowly gather strength and plow its way to the coast while you thought there'd be slim chance it could veer away and not flood/destroy your entire town. can't say i didn't see it coming, and boy was it hard to look away

Beane will start feeling some heat when russell becomes jimmy rollins for the cubs. He turned cespedes and russell into 1 year of jeff samardzija. Barring some uncharacteristicly loose spending, i cant imagine them competing with the Angels and Mariners next year. Especially since the mariners will be speding again this winter

yeah we are fucked proper. every single AL West team is going to be better than last year and the A's have next to nothing to deal with.
