I saw that it's scheduled to air again on Friday, but I think it will only be from 8:00 until 11:00 PM.

I'm not sure what will be lost during the missing half hour.

Mentioned by Tim Meadows - http://www.rollingstone.com/tv/lists/saturday-night-live-all-141-cast-members-ranked-20150211

Was Kayne sick/hurt?

Macgruber has to be #1 for least laughs per minute of airtime

I thought it was great, for the most part. Many times in the past stars would make cameos, and it would be obvious they didn't take it too seriously or rehearse too much, but it seemed like last night everyone really took it seriously... even Deniro, who only minorly flubbed his lines. Chevy was a little akward too. It was also a little depresssing too and a reminder that everyone gets old. I've been watching a lot of classic ones recently, and it's weird how much Chevy has changed over the years.

So what was with Lorne Michaels not shaking Steve Martin's hand at the end? Was it an intentional snub? Or did he just not see Martin's hand? Or was Martin in on the snub?

"WE LOVE EDDIE MURPHY!" - he then shows barely a bit more enthusiasm than he did on the red carpet pre-show pretty much saying the exact same thing as well. I hoped for more there.

I didnt make it through the whole episode, I passed out right before the Miley performance, but I agree with everyone else's sentiments in this thread.

I loved Celebrity Jeopardy and Jaws
I dont think Chevy is in good health, unfortunately. He looked even worse on the red carpet before the show when Carson Daly interviewed him
I wish Eddie Murphy would've done more, but I think just the fact that he was there was good enough

Did it seem to anyone else like Eddie got cut off?? Chris Rock's introduction was about 5 times as long as the actual piece. To be fair, I passed out shortly after that part, but it seemed like maybe he started talking off script and they just cut him off because they were worried what he might say. Just a thought...

i thought eddie was expecting the segment to end and it didn't - they missed going to commercial twice and that was one of them

^yeah, he commented that he thought it was supposed to end after he said his piece. Then when the cameras kept rolling he just started repeating the same thing over again, thats when they finally cut to commercial. Live TV

Yeah if anything he was on longer than he was supposed to be.

Do we know why he didn't do any skits or anything? Is there some beef or something I'm unaware of?

Something is wrong with Eddie Murphy. I can't believe he's that smug of a prick that he refuses to be funny.

My wife suggested that he may have some social phobia or stage fright.

He was horrible. Just like a few years ago when they did some tribute to him... I cant' remember when and what it was, but there were tons of comedians on stage and then Eddie came out and pulled a Russell Simmons/thanks for coming out, good night.

How can you go from being one of the funniest people on the planet to a recluse? Pryor stopped being funny because of the drugs and illness.

Chris Rock, that guy has been solid for 20 years and shows no signs of slowing down.

==
On a side note, I loved the back n forth banter between Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David. I could have watched that for 3.5 hours.

Finally, I used to not like Martin Short. Why, I don't know. That guy is a fucking trip.

^^He hadn't been on the show since he hosted it in December 1984 and was upset over Spade calling him a "Falling star" on the Hollywood Minute segment he used to do in the early 90's. Based on this appearance and his backing out of hosting the Oscars five or so years ago I think he just doesn't want to do any kind of standup or sketch comedy anymore. It's kind of like Robert Plant not wanting to do a Led Zeppelin reunion = maybe he thinks he just doesn't have it anymore like the good old days?

larry david's dialogue was the best part of the entire show. "no. why would i go to the party?" he's the best.

and i dont know why people feel bad for chevy chase. he's pretty much universally known as a major asshole.

Pretty good show.

Between the red carpet interview and minor appearance in the show I couldn't tell if Chevy Chase was pissed to be there or if he had dementia.

The Eddie Murphy boot licking got really old. I guess they had to constantly stroke his ego just to get him to show up.

I've eased off of fallon over the years. He was made for the late night gig in this day and age. I hated it on SNL when he would ruin every skit by laughing in the middle of it, but that's just who he is. Dude seems like one of the most genuinely happy people out there.

I thought it was endearing when they break character and laugh during in a skit? They mentioned that they do it during a skit that isn't landing to get cheap laughs.

gotta imagine it'd be difficult for a black comedian of Eddies age to shit on Cosby that publicly, regardless of if he thinks he's guilty or not

not that I condone it, but I can imagine that's where it's coming from

And Cosby is a legend in the black comedy world. That wouldn't happen.

So basically SNL thinks that the greatest comedian to come out of that show is Murphy? and that was his acceptance speech on Sunday.

I'd argue it's either Ferrell or Mike Myers.

Cosby is a legend in the comedy world, regardless of race

but for a black kid who was in his mid-20's and on top of the comedy world in the 80's, Cosby was a major, major figure

and Eddie Murphy is the biggest star to ever come out of SNL. just because we aren't old enough to have lived though it doesn't mean we can't recognize it

[Edited on February 18, 2015 at 11:02 PM. Reason : he's also the most important castmember in the shows history]

I thought Net Neutrality was decent. It pretty much made fun of us/people who post on the internet. I've seen sketches far worse.

Update was stronger than normal, guests aside. I did love McKinnon's RBG, and Riblet is always fun
