Bigs need to score better. But i never seen so many ball spin out for us and in for them.
Also every year it get easier to take a loss like them. 5 years ago there would have been some destroyed shit at my house.

Being objectively wrong, particularly when hating on a player means you are a tard or douchebag. It has nothing to do with the point of view of the masses.
To read these game threads, you would think Cat is the worst point guard in the ACC, the sole reason for both of our losses and a step down from Tyler Lewis. Might be a vocal minority of tards, but sure seems like the prevailing opinion.12/15/2014 1:47:09 PM |

I'm not arguing I wanted Lewis over Barber, I'm saying we could use him as a backup PG. We whiffed on Graham, so we are playing Lacey out of position and gasp, Dez Lee, at point as backups. You cannot deny against a team like Wofford, Lewis would help a lot. His size would not have hurt and we could run some halfcourt offense. Barber has got to start hitting outside shots. Teams dare him to shoot 3s and he cannot pull the trigger. It is hard to watch him look, hesitate, and then not take the open shot. 12/15/2014 9:41:21 PM |

Face it. Gottfired botched Tyler lewis just like he botched purvis and our team is extremely lacking because of it. Cat is basically like Junior year Javi. He has decent skillset but just hasn't put it together as far as court awareness and frankly we expected him to be much better than even senior Javi and must have him perform at the level of senior javi to consider it an acceptable level of underperformance. Right now we have two guys that create points and they pretty much do that on their own by jacking over defenders. Every now and then we run them off some screens but thats about the only offense we have.
Cat certainly hasn't hurt us but he hasn't helped us either. He's been a decent role player. We need a point guard to penetrate and either score or create for others or at least sit out and knock down shots. Cat is pretty much just a fast break guy. He's like a failed roy williams point guard (britt, drewII). 12/15/2014 11:03:22 PM |

Corchiani Jr. has played more minutes at point guard than Dez Lee this season. Lewis wouldn't see the floor this season because of Lacey... He'd be buried as deep on the bench as Dez. I hate that he left as depth is never a bad thing in case of injuries, but right now his being gone is a non-factor.12/16/2014 9:50:53 AM |

lewis would have been trash this year. it made sense to have a floor general like him while we had warren and turner to score the majority of the points. but shit id rather have a PG who can score or at least throw up a healthy number of shots to bolster the numbers. 12/16/2014 10:31:15 AM |

I don't think it's trolling to say we shouldn't have gotten rid of Tyler Lewis.
Cat is a better defender and can drive in to get shots. He's scoring more than last year but not really that much more when you account for the extra minutes he's getting. Granted, he scores more PPG than Lewis ever did but they have different styles.
He's averaging 3.5 assists a game with 1.7 turnovers. He's makes 67.2% of his free throws. His assists and turnovers are the exact same as last year and his FT% is actually down about 2%.
Lewis had 3.8 assists per game, 1.1 turnovers, and shot 74.4% from the line last year with 19.9 minutes per game vs. Cat's stats at 24.2
Personally, I'd rather have kept Lewis.
I thought it was unfair of us to put him in the back seat so quickly when he was the more experienced guard. Even when we put him in and he played really well, we'd just take him right back out and start Cat the next game. It's hard to get in a rhythm when you feel like the first turnover you commit is going to land you on the bench. We gave Cat the benefit of the doubt and chalked it up to him being young and needing the experience but I don't feel like Lewis ever really got a fair shake at that.

^ right.
the coaches likely explained to lewis what his role would be on this years team. he wasn't on board. so he transferred. i don't blame him for transferring. i don't blame the coaching staff for being HONEST with lewis about how they saw his role going forward. 12/16/2014 2:46:15 PM |

Ok maybe it was a bit over oard for me to claim he has already done what javi did. I just feel like that should be the floor for him considering how his talent level is much higher.

That's how I feel. I don't know the entire situation, but from what I saw last year Tyler was the better PG and IMHO deserved the spot. If Lewis had a 3 point shot I think things might of been different but he never had a consistent shot which I felt hurt him.
Quote : | " Gottfired botched Tyler lewis just like he botched purvis and our team is extremely lacking because of it " |
Purvis is not a good PG. I still don't understand someone wanting to play PG with < 60% FT%. I can't think of another PG off the top of my head with such a harsh FT%. Just imagine what end of game situations would be like with him as our starting PG.
Barber is the best we have right now and he will have some good games, but against good defenses I feel he gets exposed as being one dimensional. He gets kudos from me for knocking down 2 straight FTs late last game which he historically struggles with.12/16/2014 7:50:46 PM |

This is why he left. Had nothing to do with coaches telling him his playing time was going to be limited. Apparently he was a great shooter in practice, but we all saw what happened when it mattered the most. So he had to transfer and get a change of scenery. Hopefully this will help his shooting touch.
I really enjoyed watching Lewis, and wish he would have stuck around. But anyone who thinks Lewis was better than Barber want watching NC State basketball.12/16/2014 10:27:19 PM |
