it very well may be, but i don't think this game is a good indicator of how we'll fare the rest of the way. cincy will be another slugfest of a game and louisville usually is a very phyiscal, defensive team. but for the most part, i don't think we'll play another team quite like WV's D.

Turner was brutal today. Only time you noticed him on the floor were when he made backbreaking fouls on defense. WV commits fouls trying to get steals or whacking 50% FT shooters. Turner fouls midget guards that shoot 90%

or...last year he proved he could win an ncaa tourney game and make the acc semifinals with an inexperienced team and only 1 consistent scoring threat.

it's way too early to say what this year's team will turn out to be. this game doesn't change a whole lot for me. WV is the best team in the nation at forcing TOs...and that's exactly what they did tonight. their defense is unique and i'm not sure it's something we'll see a lot of in conference play. that doesn't mean there's no need for concern. but it's not time to jump off the ledge either

hes done great by our standards despite inheriting final four talent so theres definitely an asterisk being put on the extraordinary level of success he's had thus far by people like me. People like me have also been forecasting shit to really hit the fan when we no longer have talent that far outweighs that of our average opponent.

you're arguing with the experts. They picked us 4th, not me. I'm just stating facts.

I remember soothing myself after that tournment meltdown thinking "well at least we won't ever lose another game off of free throws"

because any half decent coach would spend the whole summer making sure they are good at the one thing that made you lose the year before....and here we are.

most teams scout and watch film. every team knows all you have to do is press us and we're done because we have no true 1 and you can afford to press us because if you foul on an overplay, we'll short a lower ft% than lacey and turner would shoot by just chucking shit.

the good news is a lot of acc teams play slow down basketball which will play right into our hands.

Caleb should be starting, he's a very smart offensive player and knows how to handle a lot of defensive schemes with the press, zone, etc. We have alot of talented players, but a lot of them negate these attributes by playing with below average BB IQ. This game was almost unwatchable to me with WVU playing full press for the entire game and with all of the hand checks, just an odd style.

Missed FT's were bad, but didn't lose the game. The constant turnovers did that before the FT's could really factor in. Every time we cut it to 1 we decided to cough it up on our next few possessions. This team relies too much on jump shots to have any kind of consistency.

Side note, MSG ushers are assholes.

frustrating loss - especially since WV fans are horrendous - but somewhat expected.

Preseason (and after seeing the first couple games) I thought 3 non-conference losses would be par for bubble status. Definitely puts pressure on the next few games though, including Pitt.

Yep pretty much.

Looks like there are no surprises this year with our team. We were picked preseason 9th in the ACC and although we might have a slightly higher ceiling if things fall right at 6-7, we are going to be a bubble NCAA team again.

My favorite interaction with WVU fans was having the ones behind us yelling "Fuck this officiating" in our ears all throughout the first half, then having one of the guys I was with turning around and saying "Jesus, stop yelling about the officials for a minute".

Was then told by the WVU fans in front of us that they were offended we said "Jesus" and that taking the lord's name in vain just once is far more offensive than saying "Fuck" a number of times. Guy got up and started yelling at us that he didn't want his daughter (who looked to be at least 17 or 18) hearing people disrespecting their god.

That's just one example. It's not as though the entire fan base was doing that. edit: either way I understand your point and that was ridiculous of him. I just want to say that we shouldn't be attacking fan bases based on one or even a group of people. Unless if they do something like boo an injured player or something that is disrespectful. Every fan base has their assholes, and I guarantee they were probably calling you an asshole on the WVU board after the game. Keep it in perspective and root for the pack instead!
