Curious how are depth will shake out at DE, we had a bunch of LBs convert to DE in the offseason.

Street moving inside adds a lot of athleticism to our DT spot and if I had to guess I expect Roseboro will end up at DT before it's all said and done.

Him and Hill in there together could be pass rushing nightmare for these spread teams.

from DD's comments after yesterday's practice, it sounded like Street is gonna get time at both DT and DE depending on the formation. we've got a lot of DTs out right now so it makes sense that if he's going to learn the position, now would be a time when he's not taking away reps from other guys battling for snaps

also, I always thought Gallaspy was a much thicker back than a guy like Dayes until I saw this pic. according to GoPack, Gallaspy is 5'11" 209 and Dayes is 5'9" 203. I know Gallaspy hasn't been in a college weight program and added on like 15 pounds soon after he got here so I don't know if the 209 is before or after that, but I still wasn't expecting them to look so similar in size

I love the fact that we've gone to the red/black as the default helmet. Definitely my favorite.

TOB approached about being a CFP committee member. Good or bad for us?

Irrelevant, but good for the ACC. Bad for teams with spread attacks too since TOB is stuck in the 80s and loves his pro style offense.

With Alabama and FSU. What a dumbass.

Any other dead horses to beat around here? I'm sure we can shit on Jay Davis a little more.

if he's gonna be on the committee, we need to recruit a QB that can grip it and rip it

to hell with you. He was a hell of a team guy and became a damn serviceable tight end by the time he left here. Never once complained either.

IIRC Stone still has the second most yards by a State tight end in a single season and is somewhere in the top 5 for single season receptions. for only having played the position for one year, that's pretty damn good.

^ yeah that

I think there's been speculation about Buckley but this is the first I've seen anything official. was not a big fan of his early on, but thought he played pretty well towards the end of last season.
Quote :
"NC State head football coach Dave Doeren has announced that redshirt junior tight end Devin O'Connor and redshirt senior nickelback Tim Buckley have both decided not to continue their football careers and to focus on their future plans after graduation.

O'Connor, a former walkon who earned a scholarship prior to the 2014 campaign, saw action in 22 career contests. He plans to finish his degree and focus on the social entrepreneurship he founded: Wild Child Company.

"I'm very proud of Devin for earning a scholarship and helping our football team," said Doeren. "He has proven himself and earned the respect of everybody in our program. There are great days ahead of him and I'm looking forward to watching him attack and achieve his goals professionally."

Buckley has played in 34 career games for the Wolfpack, mainly seeing action on special teams.
"I enjoyed the opportunity to coach Tim personally last year when I worked with the nickels," Doeren continued. "He was a productive member of our special teams units and our defense. I respect his wishes to focus on his life after football and wish him the very best in that pursuit.""

Wrong. He gave an interview after his senior year and complained that he didn't get a fair shot at being a qb at state. Also, dude was a prick IRL.

He was delusional.

Wasn't Buckley the Penn State transfer? Hate to see us lose any depth, but I assume he was not going to play much next year anyway.

yeah. he played a decent amount last year (he was 4th among safeties in snaps played, behind Hakin Jones, Josh Jones, and Wright) and, like I said, I think he got better as the season went on. the only one we lost in the entire secondary was Jarvis Byrd though and it's not like he played a ton of snaps, so (barring injuries) Buckley was likely gonna have to fight off young guys like Pratt, Boone, Sessoms, etc. to keep his playing time, so I understand why he's OK with walking away as a redshirt senior with no future in the NFL and a degree in hand come May.

just read that Airius Moore moved to weakside linebacker (so he can now play opposite Jerod Fernandez) and Bradley Chubb moved to DE

"Redshirt freshman offensive lineman Eric Shute is no longer on the football team.

A school official confirmed the news this evening, and he is not listed on the Wolfpack's official roster at GoPack.com.

Shute, who played his prep ball at Glenbard West (IL) High School, redshirted in 2014 after battling injuries. He was also out for spring practice with an undisclosed injury.

He is still enrolled in school."

Haha, love that we've landed 1 of the top 2 defensive players in NC each of the last 2 years, both being 4-5* players, and a 4* CB out of SC is "Doeren's best recruit", considering we had 5* RBs with offers Alabama and 4* RBs with offers from Ohio State, haha.

Also when you have a 4* recruit commit a year early, you really have to stay on them. I'm sure he has a ton of offers coming his way, hopefully we can keep him and Kobe Smith(they're friends).

So they're gonna have an autograph session after the Alumni Game. Who's autograph are you most interested in getting? Fisher? Burnette? Cotchery? K-Rob?

^^ where'd you see that about the autograph session? I don't really care nearly as much about autographs as I did growing up, but I've got a game-used white #27 jersey from Wolff's freshman year that I'd like to get signed. Checked when they announced he was coaching but didn't see anything about autographs.

I have all of those on a mini helmet along with the Holt brothers and Philip Rivers and etc.

Butttttt........from what I can remember in years past, the alumni don't hang around for autographs. It's usually just current players because most of the former players go to a formal dinner.
