he's too old and slow to hang in the playoffs
and he gets like 2 assists per game over his career. elite passer? Vlade Divac and Arvydus Sabonis were elite passers

what does that even mean?
he isn't asked to do much more than protect the rim, rebound, set screens, and make passes, which he's still doing in these playoffs
him fouling out tonight doesn't mean he's worthless
and yes, he's an elite passer. assists are only awarded to the player who passes to the dude who makes the shot. secondary assists don't show up in the box score as assists.

Not that hard to watch him compared to the other 9 players on the floor and see he can't. Any average or better center would thrive in that offense with the spacing and attention that the guards demand. 5/10/2016 1:53:31 AM |

Bogut is fine. He's probably the only rotation player aside from Barnes that hasn't gotten significantly better since last year, but that's not saying a whole lot. Comparing him to Plumlee is a goddamn joke though.

"not that hard to look at his playoff stats" in a vacuum, as if he isn't a beneficiary of any success by playing on the most talented team in the league who has literally revolutionized spacing and how opposing teams have to play perimeter defense in the game of basketball. But that box score is all that matters, right?

I actually am surprised. It was well deserved bit you had to figure somebody was going to vote for Lebron or Kawhi, or accidentally vote for Seth Curry.
50, 45, 90 shooting and 30ppg plus 73-9 made it pretty hard to not vote for Steph. 5/10/2016 2:43:40 PM |

Hard to feel bad for SAS there, they were getting all the calls in that game. Kanter was getting whistled every time Aldridge touched the ball, KD got hacked a few times with no whistle, etc.
It's hard to watch Ginobli and Parker out there sometimes, they just look a step too slow on a lot of possessions. Kawhi and Aldridge are carrying them right now.
They've still got a shot at getting it back home for a game 7, but they need one of Green, Parker, or Ginobli to step up and contribute big on the offensive end. 5/10/2016 10:41:45 PM |

seemed like a lot of shitty calls went okc's way but I don't see any one call that cost them the game, SA has def looked beatable all series, might just be kind of a transition year for them, they look a little lost on offense at times, the old big 3 need to step up more, not just be content to be shitty role players
( man DG is such an awesome defender, SA in general still playing great defense, so fucking stupid he can't get on an all defense team)

Duncan literally cannot play in this series. There's no one he can guard on OKC, and he's very limited on offense. They're much better off with Aldridge, Diaw, West getting those minutes. As great as Duncan has been he's a huge liability for them in this series. 5/10/2016 11:06:19 PM |

Spurs old guys look even older in this series. Looks like they've completely run out of gas and I wouldn't be surprised to see OKC wrap this up the next game. Duncan needs to sit, but even Parker and Ginobli look slow and are playing poorly.

It's really time to move on from parker and duncan they stink.
Still kinda shocked at the reversal of this series but okc has a good team. They just didn't play like this all season. If they'd looked halfway decent in the regular season i may have given them a chance to win the series. Very surprised they snapped out of it, they lost way too many games this year down the stretch.
Now I'm having to question if they could beat gsw... I just don't think so. Too much firepower.
I mean parker or mills is not a huge difference but they simply can't keep putting duncan out there. Go with boban to neutralize the glass.
Oh and tmac saying the league is diluted because steph won unanimously is the most DELUDED thinking ever. 5/11/2016 8:19:38 PM |

Can't decide which is the more favorable matchup for the Warriors. OKC is obv less disciplined and thinner on the bench, but they've been playing at an elite level throughout the playoffs and it would definitely be the more entertaining series. SAS looks old, tired, and out of sync, but they've got a HOF coach, a deep bench, and LMA/Kawhi as superstars. Either way, I hope for a game 7 to allow Draymond and Bogut to heal up. 5/12/2016 11:52:14 AM |

we'll see if parker bounces back but man he's aging worse than I thought he would, last year I thought he was just hurt although maybe that still is the issue or it's combination, I figured he'd have a good two more years left at least, I always thought he was absolutely key to their title runs so I'm just wondering if SA just might not be an elite team anymore 5/12/2016 3:32:58 PM |

Parkers entire game was predicated on speed and quickness. Getting layups and springing open for midrange jumpers. He can't hit the jumpers anymore and he doesn't get many layups. He was the catalyst for their offense all those years, now he can't be. But yet he's still shooting for some reason 5/12/2016 8:06:52 PM |

It is easy to forget the thunder had Westbrook get injured one year, ibaka the next, and durant the next year. Most likely cost them 2 finals appearances and 1 wcf appearance.
And the harden trade which is probably the worst trade of my lifetime.
I feel like they're gonna close out the spurs tonight, that rebounding advantage is just huge. I'm trying but I can't think of a team whose done this big of a 180 from regular season to postseason. Okc looked very unimpressive all season, I probably watched 20 of their games. They did not look capable of this 5/12/2016 8:32:05 PM |

I don't think anything is wrong with the spurs. They aren't an offensive juggernaut and okc has stepped up their d. The games are being won because durant and westbrook are playing at a high level simultaneously and then making clutch plays down the stretch instead of turnovers.
I said before the series they would need to get like 60 combined every game to win and thats about what they've been doing. Westbrook's assists and clutch play at the finish has put them over the edge. I don't think they can keep this up for a long period of time but now they just have one more game to have the series. 5/12/2016 8:39:36 PM |

I think Waiters and Kanter are both playing much better in the post season than in the regular season which may be the biggest difference.
OKC has been a horrible match up for the Spurs for the last few years because of their athleticism. Parker and Duncan's total collapse has just exacerbated it. Aldridge is a great replacement for Duncan, but as I believe face and I both said in the NBA thread, the Spurs might be better off starting Mills to save Parker's legs for the pkayoffs.
They just never found an adequate replacement for Parker or Ginobli, and against an athlete like Westbrook that's death. 5/12/2016 8:50:40 PM |

^^ Adams was a really good pick. He's tough as hell and his offense had evolved steadily. OKC will not win a title without a decent wing though. Their best lineup now will not work against GSW or Cleveland. They desperately need a competent SG. Waiters is serviceable, but they're in a similar situation as the Clippers. Their best lineups have a glaring hole.
You just can't play two big without one of them being a stretch player who can also play some D. 5/12/2016 9:38:59 PM |

Okc size is just alarming. The old zig when everyone is zagging approach always yields results.
They present a really interesting matchup now with golden state.
Can golden state go small against these guys??? I'm not so sure. I really don't know if you can go small when they throw 2 of the adams/kanter/ibaka at you with durant at sf. Their SG are all tall and Westbrook is a pretty big guard who plays incredibly big. 5/12/2016 9:40:25 PM |
The E Man Suspended 15268 Posts user info edit post |
Its different because SAS are not great on offense. OKC won't score enough with a big lineup to keep up in a GSW series. Westbrook and durant have to keep scoring 60ppg against GSW to even have a chance. 5/12/2016 9:49:14 PM |
face All American 8503 Posts user info edit post |
Golden state is at their absolute alex with a lineup of
Curry, Thompson, Iguodala, Barnes, Green. The whole key is that Green can guard anyone. But barnes and iggy vs adams/kanter/ibaka & durant??
I don't know if they'll hold up. Which if that's the case they have to play bogut a lot. And bogut only averaged 20 minutes a game this year. So let's assume they bump that to 26 because he gets in foul trouble if he plays much more.
That still leaves 22 highly questionable minutes at center if they can't go small. I like Ezeli, but he hasn't been healthy and he's played more than 10 minutes only 6 times since January 25th.
Golden state is horrible anytime varejao is on the floor. I don't think you can rule it out that cleveland is still paying him and he was sent to destroy the warriors title chances 5/12/2016 9:58:17 PM |

OKC hasn't played well against GSW for the past few seasons and I think Kerr is worlds better than Donovan. It'll be an exciting series, but it will be a monumental upset if OKC takes it. Dubs in 6 is my guess. 5/12/2016 10:06:17 PM |
