yeah officiating has been bad this half but i don't think it's been particularly one sided necessarily...bad calls going both ways. zags - karnowski specifically - are missing easy buckets.

both teams are getting a bit sloppy and missing open shots. been a terrible and not good 2nd half.

its amazing how many fouls have been called this half and yet the refs have still missed plenty of fouls. like...they're calling the wrong fouls. definitely a tight whistle. but it isn't even consistently tight. they'll let em bang a couple trips down floor and then decide they better stop allowing it and they'll call some ticky tack stuff when they just let something worse go uncalled. i guess that's the inherent problem with calling games so tight...you'll never call every single foul. so when you have a quick whistle it only further highlights the fouls you do miss.

It's not about the calls going one way or the other... it's the refs completely changing their style of officiating. Gonzaga was the dominate team the first half when pace was fast. Emmert made the call and they slowed the game down.

Same thing happened when we played Duke at Cameron in like 2011-2012. We were up 20 in the first half. They called like 5 fouls in the first 2 minutes and we lost lost.

Made the mistake of going on FB. One coworker who's a Carolina alum now has 11 posts about the outcome since the game ended.

The rest of the posts I see are from people who have never set foot on that campus, yet are saying, "We did it! It feels good to be a Tarheel!" Guess people have to feel like winners by association (and that's a stretch).

UNC fans have started doing this thing where they take pride in not having one and dones and winning without those type of players. That's ridiculous. How dare Duke and Kentucky and others attempt to get the very best recruits! It's unfathomable. Also...lets not act like UNC is winning with a rag tag gang of misfits. They've got plenty of top level recruits and Roy continues to recruit at a very high level. It's just funny to me that some how the lack of one and dones at UNC is some indication of them doing things better or more righteously than other schools (academic scandal aside). It's a weird thing to take pride in.

It's not just UNC fans. I even hear analysts talking about "this is what college basketball is all about, this team starts 3 seniors...". I mean...I get it. But that's kinda silly too and the argument doesn't hold much water when you look at plenty of teams having success with one and dones and plenty other teams succeeding without them. It's part of basketball until the rule changes but acting like it's bad because there are more top level players playing this sport (even if only for a year) is kinda wrong imo.
