I don't think $30 is too bad if they do a 50-55 song set like they used to do.

Unrelated, Neko Case is playing solo shows at the NC Museum of Art on August 19 and at Knight Theater in Charlotte on August 20.

not a lot of kids who think it's the cool show to go to

Love Language killed it

i wish every Light Pines song was as good as "Climbing Towards You". They have a lot of songs that do nothing for me but that song is pretty great live

2nd best $8 show I have seen.

They were on point last night, for sure.

Climbing Towards You I think is pretty awesome on that Drughorse One album. I think I probably prefer it over the live version, but don't have a problem with either. So, I've seen the Light Pines twice, and want to know what the name the first song they usually (apparently) play. I don't think they've recorded it. Oddly enough, I spoke to the lead singer at his day job the other day and he said they were working on an album, so it'll be on there I'm sure.

And I agree that some of their songs are just meh. Climbing Towards You is certainly one of their best.

gunzz, I was just about to post some shit about all the damned talking during shows. People seriously need to shut the fuck up. Lyrics are pretty important in most of these songs, but I always end up standing around near assholes running their fucking mouths the whole time. I'm glad I'm not the only one pissed off at this...

the story of the formation of shithorse is major lulz

they were playing somewhere (slim's maybe?), and that dude rolled up from outside, walked on the stage, and started singing

so they went with it

If you want to see MIA, LCD Soundsystem, and Pavement (among others) for free at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Maryland/DC, better go now:
http://www.virginmobilefestival.com/

Not sure if they're out of the free tix yet; already got mine. Went there at 10 AM sharp. Pretty pumped.

I saw Ariel Pink open for Vivian Girls at 506 a year or so ago. They were pretty terrible. But I like their new album.

magic kids are opening for ariel pink

i like their records a lot, but a lot of that is the spector-style production, and i hear they only tour with 4-5 people

J. Roddy Walston at Slim's on Friday night.

I thought Ponderosa were supposed to be on the bill as well, but don't see them listed. Ponderosa alone makes it worth $7.

so, for clarity, J. Roddy is tonight, Friday the 30th for $7

Ponderosa are playing a separate show there on Saturday night, and I think it's free. Both shows, ftw.

I was at Lincoln on Wednesday. Streetlight Manifesto was amazing. The Wonder Years were extremely poppy punk...sounded like New Found Glory, wasn't a big fan. Dan Potthast was entertaining, I remember him from the MU330 days.

just saw arcade fire / spoon

disappointingly short set from af

but overall pretty impressed at how their set translated to an amphitheater

spoon, not so much

which sucks because i really like spoon.

well i guess it was longer than some of the recent shows, but i was in my car in the parking lot by 1040.

spoon went on abt 730, af around 830 maybe closer to 845 iirc.

^19 songs - that's a fairly robust set list if you ask me. don't know if you could ask for much longer than that, especially since they are playing amphitheaters this time around.

and really a jay reatard cover? wouldn't have expected that out of AF.

"empty room" and "half light II" are about the only tracks from the suburbs that they didn't play at your show that i hope they play friday.
