I believer that the Hickory store started doing it b/c a new Lowes Foods opened up down the street from them.
Its the same thing they did to Farm Fresh in Wilson. Farm Fresh did a few days of what they called "Super Doubles" which is where they doubled coupons up to $2 (unheard of in those days) and HT (right down the road from them) did on-going triples for a year. Farm Fresh closed down in Wilson 2 years ago.
and yes, I drove to Wilson to go to Farm Fresh for Super Doubles.

I'm going shopping tonight for some stuff to donate to the food bank
My brother's gf's neighbor got DESTROYED by the tornado.
I've already got a box of toothpaste, deodorant, toothbrushes, etc to give to them
Going tonight w/ my mom to pick up some canned veggies and other non perishable foods.
There are a couple good deals this week:
Kroger Purex laundry detergent is $1.99. $1 off coupon from the 3/13 insert.
Lowes Foods Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks. $2.50 each. Buy 4 get $4 off your order instantly. Use 2 $.50/2 coupons. Makes it $1 a box. Gonna pick these up to put in my donation box
Harris Teeter Hefty One-Zip bags. $1 each. Use $1/2 coupon (from early Feb. I think) and it makes it $.50 a box. Perfect for putting together little bags full of toothpaste, deodorant etc 4/20/2011 10:41:41 AM |

I completly forgot that it was Super Doubles until like 5pm yesterday
I had been out of town all weekend and up until late Tuesday night. It completly slipped my mind and I was super busy catching up at work that I didn't even check my usual couponing blogs.
I have pulled some coupons to use but not sure if I'll go tonight or tomorrow night. I know most HTs get their trucks in late Friday night so maybe I'll go early Saturday morning 4/28/2011 9:47:14 AM |

Here are my finals from HT and Bloom (don't think I'll be going to HT again this week)
Went to Bloom today when I was in Chesapeake, VA for their Super Double promotion. I stopped by the customer service desk to learn about their coupon policy. Their limit of identical coupons per transaction? 10. I was in shock. I am an official Bloom lover now. I hope they come to Raleigh for real this time (instead of breaking ground for a Bloom like they did in Morrisville and then turning that into another Food Lion)
Final totals: 8 Propel Zeros 5 Good Life Recipe Cat Food Bags 3 Lysol Wipes 4 Ziploc Slider Gallon Bags 1 Tidy Cat scoopable 2 Log Cabin Syrups 2 Polaner jams 3 Deerpark 6pk water 3 Crest Pro Health toothpastes 3 Oral-B toothbrushes 6 Reach Floss 4 Bayer Aspirins 2 Kraft Homestyle Mac and Cheese 4 Ritz Crackerfuls 2 McCormicks Perfect Pinch 3 Hidden Valley Salad Kits 4 cans Pringles 2 Pepto Bismol 24ct 1 Stride Gum (to eat up overage at HT) 1 Peanut M&Ms (to eat up overage at HT)

Over the years, I've learned to despise Food Lion. Their prices just aren't low enough to justify being so so so crappy. They downgraded a potential Bloom to a Food Lion on the corner of Ray/Strickland so now we've got four Food Lions within a three-mile radius of one another that all sit half-empty.
While I think that sucks, apparently it's worse in other areas. In one town, they bumped a potential Food Lion down to a Reid's. They've also been downgrading existing Food Lions into Bottom Dollar stores all over the place. It's bleak.
It's kinda like they know something we don't know. I mean, can you imagine buying a new home and being somewhat okay with the Food Lion that's in walking distance...and then BAM, they knock it down to a Bottom Dollar. So depressing. 5/2/2011 2:34:29 AM |

more free Ronzoni pasta this week (and next week too) at Kroger w/ the mega event. <3 <3
So my mom gave me her coupon inserts from yesterday's paper and they got a Target coupon insert full of P&G Target coupons. We didn't get this in my paper over by Brier Creek. She lives over by Crabtree.
There are some great Target coupons that will make for some free/really cheap products when combined with manufacturer's coupons

Also, both times Ive went to the Kroger on Falls of Neuse and Strickland and expected a Catalina coupon, I have been rejected. They claim it works, but I wonder...clerk said it only works "if there is a sign up"...yeah, that makes sense. 5/2/2011 2:38:17 PM |

Rite-Aid people:
- What's the schedule for Rite-Aid deals? (HT has new deals on Wednesdays, e-Vic on Friday, etc.) - If something is 2/$6 or something like that, do you have to actually buy two for the discount? Harris Teeter you just get one at half price, wondering if it's the same at Rite-Aid. 5/9/2011 12:39:26 PM |
Fhqwhgads Fuckwads SS '15 20681 Posts user info edit post |
the new deals at Rite Aid start on Sundays
If something is 2/$6, you can just buy one and it'll be $3
if something is BOGO free at HT, if you just buy one, its half price
if you are doing a BOGO free at a drug store (like rite aid), they actually charge you full price for 1 item and you get the 2nd item free. So just buying one won't ring up at half price. But at drug stores, you can use 2 coupons on a BOGO free 5/9/2011 12:49:21 PM |

fHT is doing another General Mills deal this week...buy 10 items and get $4 off your order
http://www.harristeeter.com/promotions/group_offers.aspx
Only the items listed in that ad are included
I just wrote out a possible scenario:
3 boxes Cinnamon Burst Cheerios $2/box. There are $.75/1 insert coupons that would make it $.50/box 4 Larabars. $1/bar. There is a printable on Larabar's website for $1/2. Going to print 2 and make them $.50/bar 3 Betty Crocker Supreme Brownies $2/box. There are $.50/1 insert coupons to make $1/box
so AC but before the $4 taken off, it would be $6.50. After the $4, it would be $2.50 or $.25/item
For some reason, this General Mills deal hasn't been reported on any of my couponing blogs or websites but it was advertised in my e-vic email this morning.
and I just figured out why. In really small letters at the bottom it says "valid for e-vic customers only"

where do yall find coupons/deals on fresh foods? the overwhelming majority of coupons are for convenience foods, which are ok sometimes, but most of the money I spend on groceries goes to meats, fruits, fresh veggies, etc.
I'll get meat that's got the $3 off going bad in two days coupons on 'em when i can find them and then freeze, but you don't see them that often for meat people want to eat.

Butterball Turkey Bacon or Turkey Sausage is $2.50 at Harris Teeter and there were $.75/1 insert coupons that would make it $1/package
you can find rebates in the grocery stores for stuff like "buy 2 bags of kingsford charcoal and save $5 on fresh meat". you see a lot of those during the summer
I've gotten free fresh produce before. One time during Super Doubles at HT, Kraft Salad dressing was $2 and I had a $1 coupon so I got it free. Then there was a peelie on each bottle for $1 off fresh produce when you bought 2 kraft dressings. So I got 2 free dressings and they doubled the $1 off fresh produce peelie as well. I believe that time I got some free lettuce.
90% of my fruit/produce comes from Aldi.

Fresh foods.....Buy into a community garden. There is a great one in the Holly Springs area....Join for 1/month. Do 10 hours of work a month and get a basket of veggies a week. There are several Co-ops/farms that are a great price....10 week and you get tons of in season fruits and veggies!http://www.localharvest.org/csa/ A few people at my work joined together and split the basket.
Wine tags have $1 off fruit and veggies tags on them. Become friends with venders and they will just give you a stack of coupons. My sisters is and she usually gets a stack of each (she even shares)....
$1 off meat $1 off produce $1 off poultry $1 off seafood $1 off your total purchase
I save them for super doubles and get all kinds of free meat.
I have also stated before. I always do the beer rebates for meat......I have already received 73 dollars back for meat purchases this year.
Miller lite had coupons around Easter $2 off any turkey....needless to say I have tons of turkey breast, legs, and sausage in my freezer.
Also anytime I go into a supermarket, I look at the markdown meat. If I find a good deal, I will buy it all. I got lean formed hamburgers originally 9.97 for 1.45 a package. I got 6 packages. The key with this is figure out when they mark it down and go at that time every week. I know the HT I got to does it Tuesdays around 11 am.
Lately, I have been using my overage at Walmart to pay for produce. There is a $2 off any Whisk detergent coupon out and I use it on the .97 bottle and apply the 1.03 to my cart.....which is of course their policy.
