Covered over 600 miles this weekend (took friday off) through some awesome VA and WV roads. hit up Shenandoah National park and George Washington National forest. Absolutely beautiful time to be riding!

Nice f00! Bikes are in the shop for the winter here in MT. Already have flakes in the air! Time for the sleds to come out!

Rode in the Red Sleigh Ride in Asheboro this weekend! Pretty fun. Probably 70 bikes. 4 Randolph deputies on Harley's escorted the group.

He is in the army, in some tank battalion i think

So my buddy that's traveling across the states on a motorcycle will be passing through Raleigh area tomorrow even ing or tuesday evening. Anyone wants to meet him for a beer and/or to hook him up with a couch to sleep on/field to camp in? He has been doing pretty well so far but I think he has been staying in motels more than he originally anticipated and it's wrecking his budget.

tried my hand at flat track the first time saturday at coleridge. laid it down in the first race because I didn't know where the grip was and I had a road racer body position. next race I got better and the last race I didn't get last place. was a lot of fun and the most track time you'll ever get for $5.

also, RIP Marco

^^^I am surprised more people don't die in the motorcycle pro racing circuits. Especially in the races held on the public road-based courses such as Isle of Man TT. Considering the speeds these days and the inherent lack of protection, motorcycle racing holds a pretty darn good safety record.

If he doesn't mind trekking out to the Cleveland area in Johnston County, he's welcome to crash at my place.

Yeah isle of man looks terrifying. Its only mitigating factor is that it's a time trial.

Now there's a REAL cafe racer guaranteed to piss off your neighbours with dat 2 stroke powR! What do you plan to do with it, restore?

Mike has been an exemplary guest... Just skimming his blog was not near enough to start to understand what he is trying to do. Even after talking to him all evening it's only starting to sink in. Selling your house to go on a year long moto trip is quite an adventure. Glad to have gotten the chance to meet him. Going to try to get up early enough to cram some eggs and coffee into him before he heads off to the outer banks.

As for the RD, I plan to go through the whole thing. My buddy that gave it to me will help build the engine (he has been building 2-stroke beasts for almost 20 years). Going to modernize the suspension with beefy forks and re-done swingarm bushings, powdercoated frame, and new home-brew cafe bodywork. Of course going to have to sort the wiring and brakes too... Re-laced spokes, new rubber seals and all that. Long-term project, as they say. Nothing un-touched. Not a restoration in the purist sense, but it will be given due justice.

^^That's some pretty impressive stunting. I'd love to see some more footage from that show.

The second video is pretty nice, but it would benefit greatly from shake-reduction or a steadicam setup. What was it shot with?

I may have an opportunity to buy a motorcycle for a good deal, but I need help with pricing.

1997 Harley 1200 Custom. Stock, except it has aftermarket pipes (I believe screaming eagle, I can verify later). Stock pipes will come with as well. It's in "fair" shape, but never been dropped. Will need a new battery, the carbs might need cleaning, and the tires are 50%. What would be a reasonable offer? $2k-$3k?

Anything I should know in particular about this model Harley? I plan on hitting up some Harley forums, but would like input from the crew as well.
