Wow Maryland beat the living shit out of Wake. I know Maryland hasn't beaten anyone, most impressive team they've beat is BC, but that game in College Park COULD be huge and I'm starting to get nervous about that one too (along with Clemson and UNC).
Maybe Miami will stomp them next week and put their ACC title dreams to rest. They did get slaughtered by Clemson so I don't know what to think about the Twerps. They still play UVa and FSU too. 10/30/2010 11:35:26 PM |

That post had to have been a troll. There's no way anyone, even a Carolina fan, would have wanted a recruit at the game where they had to mount a fourth quarter comeback just to beat a FCS team by 4 points. 10/31/2010 11:02:07 AM |

^I doubt it. I'm not sure where I stand on Oregon (I don't pay much attention to the west coast) but I really don't think Auburn will make it undefeated. It very well could come down to the SEC Championship game but I just can't see them winning out. 10/31/2010 3:12:51 PM |

Bama will beat them when they play this year. Newton is like Tebow and Alabama shut him down last year when it counted. Bama will be in the SEC title game against either USC or UF and will win regardless. No way the Cocks beat them twice in a season.
Assuming how the computers play out, that might put Bama in the title game against Oregon assuming they remain undefeated. TCU or Utah, one will be eliminated from discussion this week. Boise will be the wild card. I would be pretty surprised if either TCU/Utah or BSU got in over a 1 loss Bama.

Its gonna be a tough call if you have only one undefeated major team with Oregon and then Boise and TCU followed by a lot of good one loss teams. Every year until now I could understand the argument, but despite their bad schedules TCU and Boise are both legit great teams this year no doubt about it. I think its great that at least neither are even being questioned about going to a BCS game should they win out, which is a good step for non AQ schools. I at least hope if neither makes it to the title game that they dont lame it up this year and put them both up against quality opponents so they get at least a chance to prove it on the field. 11/1/2010 1:52:16 PM |

The Big East is expanding to 10 teams and ECU is too shitty to be included.
http://www.wralsportsfan.com/voices/blogpost/8554615/
Quote : | "The Big East presidents and athletic directors put their heads together in Philadelphia today and decided to expand the conference for football. According to the New York Post, TCU, Houston, Central Florida, Temple and Villanova are the targets to bring the tally of football playing schools up to 10.
Absent from the initial list is East Carolina. It's no secret Pirates athletic director Terry Holland has been positioning the school for possible inclusion, but the Big East has never given the impression that they were interested.
According to Sports Illustrated's Stewart Mandel, former NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue has been consulting since April and has already discussed expansion with TCU and Villanova. The Wildcats are already considering a proposal from the Big East to move their program to the FBS level, which would require upgrades to their stadium." |

Geographically Houston and TCU make no sense, but that does not seem to matter anymore with any conference. The Big 12 should really be making a push to get TCU and Houston in all reality.
Villanova's football team isn't even FBS and does not deserve to be in a BCS conference, Temple pretty much as well. ECU is actually the best candidate from that group if you try and keep some geographical sense and competitiveness. I have a feeling that ECU's straight up horrible academics probably plays a role in their exclusion.

let's trade them BC for a team 11/2/2010 4:23:13 PM |
Brass Monkey All American 13560 Posts user info edit post |
Temple made it to a bowl game last year (should have won, but Pierce got injured), and are already bowl eligible this year at 7-2 (4-1). They will probably represent the East division of the MAC in the conference's championship game. Their only two losses are to Penn State in a game that they could have won, and to the best team in the West division of the MAC in Northern Illinois. NIU is pretty good too. They barely lost to Illinois and beat Minnesota (I know they suck, but they are a BCS team with better talent than NIU).
Now obviously Temple would have to take their licks for a couple of years, but with them playing at Lincoln Financial Field and being in an area that produces some decent football talent, I could easily see them becoming a tough out for the more established Big East teams.
The Big East though does need to scrap the idea of adding Houston and TCU. That'd just be retarded from a geographical stand point. ECU and UCF are no brainers from a football perspective. ECU has a good sized stadium and already has a history of playing WVU. UCF is decent and would have their rivalry with USF take on another level. 11/2/2010 4:33:33 PM |

ECU isn't being considered b/c they play in buttfucking Greenville. There is no market there at all. TCU and Houston are in major markets. It's already been decided that geography and competition means nothing. It's all about the benjamins. 11/2/2010 4:55:38 PM |
Brass Monkey All American 13560 Posts user info edit post |
True it is all about money, but Greenville isn't necessarily a good reason why ECU would be left out. Academics yes. Small college towns are the norm. ECU may not have as many fans as State and UNC, but they do have a decent following in the eastern part of the state. In regards though to Temple they are at least better than Duke, and would give the Big East the Philadelphia market (even though PSU would still be #1). 11/2/2010 5:07:06 PM |
