So I just realized that my jack and stands were, well, jacked from my truck bed because my dumb ass left them there for the taking. I don't really have the spare cash at the moment to pick up some more, so does anyone have a good floor jack and >= 3-ton stands I can borrow for 2-3 days? Need to do my truck brakes ASAP as well as a few items on a couple other vehicles

95% chance that I'm putting my red 1992 Integra GS-R up for sale in the next few months (possibly as soon as a month). so might as well get the word out now.
298,000 miles on vehicle
Aftermarket mods: -AEM CAI with K&N conical filter -DC Sports 4-2-1 ceramic exhaust header (dented on bottom) -Greddy cat back exhaust (sounds good, not buzzy) -Ingalls front camber kit -Koni Yellows 2 way adjustable shocks (installed 130k miles ago) -Spoon sports rear upper strut tower bar -unbranded rear lower tie bar (adjustable tension) -15" x 6.5" aftermarket lightweight alloy wheels (wheel + tire is less than 30lbs) -always used Mobil 1 synthetic oil -single disc CD player with front aux input -alarm system with keyless entry
Engine is putting out around 175 hp by my estimates. Redline is 8000 rpm, fuel cut 8200 rpm. requires 91 octane or higher Engine is B17A - 1.7 liter DOHC with VTEC on intake and exhaust cams Transmission is YS1, no LSD vehicle weight is around 2700lbs stock 0-60 when new was around 6.5, low 15s 1/4 mile, tops out around 137 mph With my driving I get around 23-25 mpg city, 28-31 mpg hwy
150,000 on current clutch (no slip) new battery original alternator 4th radiator 2nd windshield 2nd rear window 2nd brake master cylinder front brake calipers just over a year old rear brake calipers brand new new oil pan - less than 2 years old new coolant hoses thermostat valve replaced 1 1/2 yrs ago interior ventilation fan motor replaced 6 months ago alternator belt replaced 2 months ago entire steering system (rack and pinion, pump and tie rods) replaced 4 years ago engine mounts replaced 4 years ago windshield wiper motor arm linkage replaced 4 years ago timing belt and water pump have been replaced 3 times brand new spare tire (donut) 2 new rear tires
The good: -engine is strong, spins like a top, doesn't burn oil (except for that signature high rpm VTEC light smoke) -transmission shifts well, no grinding -interior is in great shape - seats somehow look near brand new other than some fading -power locks, power, windows, power moonroof all work fine
The bad: -body paint on all horizontal surfaces is badly faded -hood is dented from unfortunate collision with windshield -small crack in one fog light -driver's side door window doesn't always seal properly -ABS is non functional (pump needs replacement) -AC does not work (new compressor needed) -suspension bushings are all original -radiator cooling fan needs to be replaced (noisy bearings) -windshield washer fluid hose is broken (replacement might necessitate removal of front quarter panel) -water occasionally leaks into the front passenger footwell -new front rotors needed -rear hatch hydraulic struts need replacement -driver's side floor mat needs replacement -cruise control no longer works -intermittent wiper setting no longer works
Spare parts (cost extra): new pair of rear rotors OEM 14" x 5.5" alloy wheels with 8 year old Falken Azenis
The draw of this car is that the drivetrain can be swapped into almost any Civic/Integra built from 1990-2001 with very little modification. Looking for $2000 OBO.

Yes, torsion bars.
It doesn't seem to have any shock absorbers on the front though(he cut off the mounts), which could be a problem. Probably still has the shocks on the rear though.
Whole thing has been stretched a bit I would guess.
Wheels are probably Ford Model A with VW lug adaptors...probably wider than the tires that vw came with originally.

Aight folks I'm taking a job in VA and I'll be commuting in heavy traffic so I want something with good mileage, more maneuverable than my dually and safer than my VTX for daily drive. Looking to keep it unker $3k, something just to last me a couple years maybe. Must be manual.
I'm looking at a few options, in order of preference: - small pickup, 4cyl 4x4...mid-eighties toyota or nissan, early-90s ranger or S-10, that sorta thing. - TDI VW or other diesel car - SI or Vtec Civic, acura, early-90s sentra, something along those lines
Anyone got anything like that for sale?

I would advise against the 3rd gen (1993-1997) Ford Ranger 4cyl with manual trans. From mine and my family's experience, they are terrible about eating through throw out bearings...
S10's are pretty solid, with the biggest complain being intake manifold gasket leaks from what I've researched. I don't know much about Nissans, and Taco's are indestructible (but gl finding one for $2k).
Good luck in your search paerabol

Yeah, I'm in contact with a few Toyota sellers, it would be my first choice. Just have to be careful because so many of them have been modded and abused and changed hands every few years. This '91 Isuzu I found is intriguing, if the ad and pics are to be believed it's a very clean, stock, well-cared-for little v6 4x4 for half the price of comparable toyotas. I'd rather buy stock and do my own mods, but I don't want an anemic piece of shit...can't really find much about them online but I figure a v6 on a quarter-ton can't be too bad any way you slice it 2/3/2013 11:18:23 PM |

I agree. You pay a premium when you buy, but I think it's worthwhile because you'll be able to sell it at a premium when you're ready to get rid of it. In the meantime you're driving a vehicle that is built better and more reliable than most of its competition.2/4/2013 12:10:37 PM |

For Sale: Carbotech track only brake pads that fit (front and rear) -Honda S2000 (all years) -Acura RSX Type S (all years) -Honda Civic Si (coupe & sedan) '06-'12
These pads are designed for track use only. They can be used on the street but it is not recommended. They are very noise, create a lot of dust, are rough on rotors and don't bite very hard when cold.
2 sets of front pads available: RP2: used for 2 days at Charlotte Motor Speedway for roughly 200 miles. Cost new - $228, selling them for $175 XP10: used for 4 days (2 at Roebling Road Raceway, 2 at Carolina Motorsports Park), roughly 400 miles total. Cost new - $195, selling them for $150
1 set of rear pads available: XP8: used for 6 days track time total (see above and combine). Cost new - $162, selling for $75
All pads were ordered direct from Carbotech in Concord, NC and were bedded in properly at their facility, before I took delivery (cost extra).
I also have a set of front rotors that match up with the RP2 pads, see above for usage. I am willing to entertain offers and offer discounts for combination purchases. Photos, including pad depth measurements, available upon request. Prefer local delivery.

a 600cc sport bike is plenty fast and more than enough to learn on
it's the rider, definitely
when I first got my 900rr, I rode with Josh Hayes in Mississippi, when he was just a local mechanic / road racer
he had a beat up 600F2, with fairings only on 1 side and consistently outran/rode me, regardless of the 30+ hp I had over him
I kept up, only because of the straightline acceleration of my 9, and I grew up riding 2/18/2013 8:54:46 PM |

gixxers all turn well. they aren't r6's but they aren't r1's either. the r1 is a bike that i consistently hear people complain it not turning in. every one I see in the paddock has clip ons cranked as wide as possible for max leverage. kawi and suzuki are the sweet spot for me and my body type. r6 requires way too much body pump and body english to make it go fast and I'm not skinny/flexible - the bike kinda rides like a unicycle. im faster on my 10 year old kawi with far less effort and WAY worse brakes

Nope! Transmissions on the early 2000 models had issues, requiring pre-mature rebuilds ($$Ferrari$$).
That's why they have low miles and resale so cheap. I think the 2009 models and newer are *safe* from transmission grenades.
Wife and I saw a few a year or so ago and considered it. Did my research on some forums and about 90% of the owners on the forums bitched about their transmission issues. Warranty expired on nearly most of the cars, so it was a total "gotcha!" move by Maserati
