hahaha, what the fuck, I've been watching this line of storms heading our way all day, thinking we would get a killer storm this afternoon/evening. The line of storms is pretty thick and stretches across most of the eastern US, so I figured there was no way we wouldnt get something.

Well look at the damn radar now, the line of storms is still there, but its breaking apart in the middle - at the exact part that looks like it will cross Raleigh. I swear there is a bubble over this city that kills storms, I WANT SOME SUMMER THUNDERSTORMS DAMMIT

there was one like 2-3 nights ago in North Ral.

not a very big one but there was thunder and rain

^ JTMONEYNCSU, d7freestyler, and i were talking about this last night.
jt's major was meteorology and he said something about large cities being able to deter storms (or something to that effect) but he really didn't think raleigh was big enough to do that.

Maybe you're referring to the urban heat island effect, where turbulent mixing in and around cities is greater. Though, that really doesn't hinder thunderstorm development in the city itself. There are only about a billion factors that go into the dynamics surrounding storm development.

I got to see a wall cloud today around 3:30, and a funnel cloud around 8:30 tonight. Both went within 3 miles of the house (Iron Station, Lincoln Co.). Over in Denver (East Lincoln), there are trees and power lines down all over the place.
