I thought republicans were states rights advocates. Basically, they are for destroying the state's right to regulate the healthcare industry inside its borders.
And of course when I buy my healthcare from Wyoming, which only has three mandates, I can't even find a provider in North Carolina that accepts my healthcare.
Such a great plan.10/6/2008 5:57:29 PM |

As much as I disagree with Obama; I think Palin is a Bafoon and McCain has gotten misguided. I can no longer understand what he runs for. At least I know what I am getting with Obama. More foodstamps, chrome rims on old chevy's, shorter waits at the ER b.c i'm forced to subsidize LaShuana's 10 kids health insurance, green hippy energy, and the ability to sleep at night b.c i know Obama is less likely to start WW3.10/6/2008 6:23:53 PM |

speaking about moving on, how bout some fresh-out-of-the-oven-polling now shall we?. This from Rasumessen, a pretty conservative pollster.
FLORIDA: OBAMA 52-45 (Ed Note: !!!!!!!!) MISSOURI: OBAMA 50-47 VIRGINIA: OBAMA 50-48 COLORADO: OBAMA 51-45 OHIO: MCCAIN 48-47 10/6/2008 6:35:51 PM |

so Obama has lost a good bit of ground in Virginia and Ohio, but gained in Florida? Or, more likely, the polls have been widely variable and volatile and don't tell us a whole lot other than... it's closer than it should be. 10/6/2008 6:50:03 PM |

Ohio is the same as the previous poll by Rasmussen. Obama is down 1 point in VA. He has gained overall in both those states from poll averages. So that is not an accurate assessment. His lead is growing. 10/6/2008 7:07:19 PM |

Or is it only because you are American? I am really curious?
What if he thinks that America is NOT the best (whatever that means) country in the world, but he wants to MAKE it the best? And if he succeeds, in your eyes, not only will it stay the best, but also become better.

These guys better be careful, this is dangerous territory the fear they are driving up. Watch this video below. Calling Obama a terrorist? That is not good at all and I don't care what party you support. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjf0NlfO73M
Quote : | "After John McCain delivered the central question of his speech today -- "Who is the real Barack Obama?" -- the first, and loudest, supporter seems to yell:
"Terrorist!"
That said, the moment is uncomfortably revealing: McCain is now dabbling in the tactics employed in the most viral smears of Obama, if not to the same degree. No honest observer would dispute that McCain's speech today was about sowing fears of Obama as a risky, unknown, and vaguely sinister "other," and this supporter, at least, read the subtext, intended or not, loud and clear.
And when McCain delivered that line there was a gratified, even visceral roar from McCain supporters, as if this attack -- fear the alien in our midst! -- was the gloves-off moment they'd been waiting for. " |

no, it wasn't an ignorant fool in the crowd. it was a police chief (pretty sure) that was speaking to the crowd, getting them amped up for palin to come out
EDIT: found a link
Quote : | "Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott took the stage moments ago as one of the introductory speakers at a rally here for Sarah Palin. After delivering brief remarks in support of Palin, Sheriff Scott flipped the switch and used Barack Obama’s middle name in order to incite the crowd of thousands of people who have already gathered here.
“On Nov. 4, let’s leave Barack Hussein Obama wondering what happened,” the law enforcement officer said.
UPDATE: Palin campaign spokesperson Tracey Schmitt issued the following statement on Sherriff Scott’s remarks: “We do not condone this inappropriate rhetoric which distracts from the real questions of judgment, character, and experience that voters will base their decisions on this November.”
According to his web site, Scott became sheriff in 2005.
“People could say running for sheriff took either courage, ignorance, or a combination of both,” Scott said on the web site.
Many of the thousands of people in attendance roared their approval at Sheriff Scott’s dig at the Democratic nominee, whose Kenyan father shared the same exact name as his son.
After Sheriff Scott left the podium, local radio host Mandy Connell took the stage next. She too drew a loud ovation when she said Obama “hangs around with terrorists.” " |

I'm going to say this again:
Obama's relationship with Ayers is a non-issue. They served on some boards together, had a professional relationship, and happened to live in the same neighborhood. Ayers is now a professor at the University of Illinois, and is well-respected among his peers. He is an upstanding citizen, despite his sordid (and distant) past. Obama may be a better person for working with him.
The McCain camp would like to scare people by saying Obama is pals with a terrorist for his association. Well, then I guess the University of Illinois are pals with a terrorist, along with everyone else with whom he has had any sort of relationship. I'm sure a lot of his friends and colleagues would object to that.

I don't think he actually bombed anything, except his own people (accidentally).
He wanted to though.
You're right that this might be an issue as it related to the electioneering, but it's not an issue as it relates to Obama as president. Ayers did this when Obama was 8 years old, and Ayers went in to hiding for 20 years as a result, which is well after Obama met Ayers. It's ludicrous to impugn someone based on what someone they know did WELL in their past. Half the people I know can be painted as scumbags for things they did in high school.

Nobody said anything about blind patriotism. But Obama's wife and Wright's comments both make it seem like they're ashamed of their country, which isn't an acceptable attitude for a president, in my opinion.
When you're embarrassed and ashamed, you'll make concessions to others to improve the world's view of your country. While that's certainly not a horrible thing in most cases, it could be very dangerous in dealing with enemies like say, radical Islam. No matter how well received Obama is in the world and how he improves our reputation, radical Islam groups will ALWAYS be anti-America and taking the whole "well we're the ones that caused this problem with Bush & others so we deserve it RAWR RAWR" attitude is going to bite us in the ass when we don't take their threat seriously.

I don't condone the calling Obama a terrorist and the emphasis on Hussein or anything..
But I don't understand how you're so positive it's not an issue as it relates to Obama as president. Yeah, he did it when Obama was 8, what the fuck does that prove? I don't think anybody's suggesting Ayers showed Obama how to make a bomb and plant it in the White House. The whole radical left-wing attitude Ayers obviously had could have easily influenced Obama. The fact that he was a terrorist is just proof that he was as extreme as you can get. He may have stopped planning bombings but as he has never showed any regret for his actions, it's pretty clear that his beliefs and political views are probably pretty much the same. Again, I'm not saying there was a 100% chance Ayers had an influence on Obama but how can you say with 100% confidence that there wasn't?10/6/2008 10:13:29 PM |

because Obama is the messiah. He would never espouse anything that was bad for the nation. It doesn't hurt that Ayers was so right about the stuff he thought, anyway
