8-4 is my prediction and I'd be thrilled if we end up with that record. If we went 9-3 you should be fuckin excited and 10-2 would make people cum in their pants. Don't set your expectations too high, this is NC State we are talking about.8/24/2009 6:45:29 PM |

Ahhh now you accuse us of running up the score.
Hint: It's your defenses job to stop us from scoring - not ours. " |
I agree, and my fellow State fans need to stop bringing this crap up.
Is running up the score poor sportsmanship? Absolutely. Did Spurrier run up the score on us last year? Maybe. 20-0 is a three score game. 27-0 is where you MIGHT be able to make the claim. Is there any point in accusing Spurrier of running up the score? Hell no. Makes us look like whining wussies. Let's move along...
That said, this (below) is why I think SC is going down:
Quote : | "Random SC fan the big question mark is our unproven offense...........unproven OL, unproven QB, unproven WR, unproven RB. hell, Wesley Saunders (TE) and Moe Brown are probably the 2 closest things we have to "proven" starters on the offensive side of the ball.
but the way I look at it is this.....with John Hunt gone, our OL can't possibly be any worse than it has been the past 4 years. that's been the Numero Uno problem. secondly, Garcia IS a capable QB and seems that *maybe* he's finally pulled his head out of his ass and decided that he wants to be a player. and our WR and RB, while unproven, WERE highly recruited and do have potential, probably higher ranked recruits than anyone NC State has. they just need a capable OL and QB." |
Yes SC fans, your team has talent, and plenty of it. But the team will have to come together in a real hurry due to replacing so many starters. Your QB has some great tools, and yes the team's losses late last year were to quality opponents, but he hasn't proven beyond all doubt that he can carry the offense, which he'll likely have to do baring a significant improvement in the running game.
Wilson on the other hand is, with the exception of his durability (and that is a BIG exception), is a proven commodity. He proved he could make good decisions (only one INT, and our rushing attack sucks too). He proved that he can carry our offense (evident by how terrible we were when he wasn't playing). There are no questions as to whether he will be an effective QB. You guys may slow him down, but no way SC keeps Wilson out of the endzone. None. Our O-Line, even if it is less talented than yours (i.e. your guys got more stars than ours), has the benefit of continuity. We have two talented and experienced senior RBs. Our TE had a breakout season last year. Most of the WR core returns as well. In other words, the offense suffered practically zero turnover. That sounds stupid given last year's performance, I know. But if you ignore the quality of play by the NC State offense at the end of the year, then be prepared for a rude awakening in 9 short days.
The defense lost a few key players, but most starters return from last year. Irving (not Erving) was a huge loss, as was the transfer of Ellis (CB) and Simmons (S), who was dismissed for off the field issues. The safety position is a huge concern. But we too have talented LBs ready to step up, and yes you guys offered schollys to a couple of them (so we have just as much right to speculate about their ability as you do for your new guys).
If SC wasn't replacing so many players, then I'd be more concerned about this game. I think that if this game was played late in the season it would help SC tremendously. Even if I concede that SC has more talent on both sides of the ball, talent doesn't win games. Just ask Wake Forest. The system matters, as does the efficiency at which it's run. State's players are more likely to come out firing on all cylinders, which is why in the end NC State wins this game.

if we pick up where we left off last year in terms of on the field execution, we will win the game.
obviously i think we'll be better than last year, but in Week 1, i think if we equal our performance in the last 4-5 weeks of the season, it is more than enough to put the cocks away by 2 TD's 8/25/2009 8:40:19 AM |

I love our fans. If you are ever beside the visiting team entrance you better be giving them hell before the game. Curse up a storm and call them every name in the book. I don't care if you are super religious, especially against Carolina. That's one time in which God will look the other way, haha.

I love how they talk about how their recruits on offense were ranked so much higher than anyone on our offense, haha, what a joke.
Mattes - 4*(potentially a back-up though I think he starts) T. Baker - 4/5*(split-starter) Barnes - 4/5*(potentially #4 RB) J. Smith - 4*(on the 2-deep) M. Glennon - 4*(back-up!)
I truly find it hard to believe their entire offense is full of 5-star recruits. I know they have talent, but I don't really think they understand how much talent we have. And look at that, our most highly-recruited offensive players aren't even the starters. Experience is huge and continuity is as well(this is why our team struggled under CTC), and this is why I think we have the edge going into the game. Stars don't matter after you step foot on campus...unless you're Marvin Austin. 8/25/2009 8:57:53 AM |

Who is our 3rd TE? I doubt they want to burn Asa Watson's redshirt, barring additional injuries (knock on wood). Turn a fullback into an H-Back (Harrison Ritcher, Colby Jackson, or Taylor Gentry)? Extra offensive lineman? Maybe a linebacker for the goal line package? 8/25/2009 10:28:54 AM |
