You're looking at that from the wrong direction, the opposite also holds true. The more opportunities you give someone to get something right, the more likely they are to get it right as well.

If someone has a 50/50 chance of making any shot near the basket with defenders in the way, and they get two chances, and Anya blocks one.... They still have one 50/50 chance at making a basket. Anya's block has only added +1 to his block stat without changing the percentage chance that the other team is going to make a basket IN THE AVERAGE CASE.


Two highlights of blocks going right is not the average case for Anyablocks, it's the best case. They don't always work out like that. Hell, the don't "often" or even "mostly" work out like that.

also just saw where antwan walker was reclassifying from 2016 to 2017. seems like we started recruiting him kinda late, so maybe him reclassifying bodes well for us...we get more time to make up ground in the recruiting process. he's currently a 3* on 247 and a 4* on scout but was described as a "late bloomer" in the article i read.

Not sure if our new assistants have a relationship with him, but we are in the ACC and have a ton of PT to offer for '17.

If Yurtseven is indeed cleared, this might be Gott's most "talented" team while at NC State. Obviously the results might not indicate it, but from a pure "NBA prospect" and "talent/potential" standpoint, I can't think of a better team.

Not sure if this is backed up by science, but my feeling is Yurt will help Abu's #'s similar to what being on a really bad team did for Cat. Not as drastic, but DSJ dealing dimes, a biggun to distract defenses, and a (2?) 3 point threat(s) should be a good scenario for Abu.

seems like it might be a waiting game. the NCAA has to clear players in order of their season...so players that need to be cleared who play a sport in the fall (football, soccer, etc) will be the first priority. and then they'll move onto winter sports. and while i'm not exactly sure how these things work, i'm sure the State compliance office will be doing what they can to gather info and prepare for the impending inquiry into his eligibility.

somebody's gotta spell Abu at the 4. he won't play 40 mpg, obviously. and i don't think Anya and Yurtseven will play much at the same time next year. i would have to think Hicks is more of a 4 than Kirk...so Hicks would very likely be the one spelling Abu for ~5-10 minutes per game. maybe more depending on foul trouble. all of this, of course, is moot if Freeman isn't redshirting.

maybe for a few minutes/game, but i think defensively that'd be a liability if the other team has some quick, athletic forwards. and even offensively, while yurtseven may have some range, i think his primary responsibilities are still gonna be close to the basket. and anya can't move more than 3 feet from the basket without being a total liability offensively.

We COULD play Yurt at the 4, but that wouldn't be ideal.

Yurtseven is good offensively, but if he's consistently double-teamed, he isn't going to be very effective. If you have Anya on the court, no one is going to focus on him defensively, so Yurtseven will get swarmed inside. Play him with Abu and both should really benefit as neither will see double-teams.

I doubt we'll see a ton of Yurtseven and Anya on the court at the same time barring injuries or some weird match-up we're trying to take advantage of.
