People still use Teamspeak? I thought that Ventrilo had become the norm.

hell at least Steam has the right idea setup. If you do play COD4 on PC i don't know why you don't just use steam. Sound like you'd rather jump through hoops to play games then conform to the norm because its easier and makes more sense.
12/11/2007 12:00:28 PM
When I get on teamspeak, I can see who in the group of 40 or so guys I regularly play games with is online and what they're playing...or I can hit them up with xfire...shit I've been doing for years. So seems like Live is an extra cost I have never needed.Like I said, if you want others to stroke you off on how great live is, go to the 360 thread. And since, you apparently don't know what the fuck you're talking about, I do have CoD4 thru steam...but it is not integrated into the steam servers listings...you can see who's playing it, but you can't join their game through steam. And TS>>>>>>>>Vent...Vent's for poor people who can't afford a TS server[Edited on December 11, 2007 at 12:05 PM. steam is, well steam, good and bad things about it, the friends thing is pretty good though. though with the ps3 network as it is, it wouldn't take much of a leap to have it surpass live very easily, not really sure why sony hasn't pulled the trigger on it yet.
12/11/2007 12:03:24 PM
^I must be missing something (probably because I only have 1 friend and thats still pending) but as the PS network is setup now....whats so special about it? The LAN stuff is awesome like setting up media servers and stuff...and I do like the Interface for the PS3. Also the PS Store seems really empty. Am i missing something or has stuff been removed? I can't even find the GT HD demo. There also seems to be only 4 themes to download.
12/11/2007 12:07:42 PM
Are you talking about Xboxlive?Because short of an overhaul, PSN won't come close to surpassing it.[Edited on December 11, 2007 at 12:08 PM. Reason : to Arab.]

^accept my friend invite already!

simply add/redo the friends portion to the active list ala steam, add options for forums of various sorts you can access (vocal or text) for the various games and/or demos you have, and then have (attached to the forums bit?) a listing of ongoing games set to broadcast for each game/demothe rest of the crap about live i couldn't care less aboutnah not saying it's better, just could be good/better with some work, which they inexplicably have not done yetnah, lax isn't having a tantrum by any means, he's just extolling the virtues of how he does things and why he likes them better[Edited on December 11, 2007 at 12:16 PM. 12/11/2007 12:11:53 PM
Adding 'simply' to a list that fundamentally changes how PSN is setup is a bit misleading no?You can tell the Xbox360 was designed with live in mind and you can tell the PS3 was designed without PSN.
12/11/2007 12:20:46 PM
No, it's coming up because Golovko made the following comment
12/11/2007 12:47:35 PM
Why is this in the PS3 thread? Can you guys shut the fuck up already?
12/11/2007 1:00:10 PM
Oh really? Using the word 'frag' is gay. Sure. Well over in the Christmas song thread you saying you dug Mannheim Steamroller WAS pretty much the gayest thing I'VE ever read. So, if you ever proposed to trade those gayisms, no dice bub I'm hanging on to mine.
12/11/2007 1:10:04 PM
KainenI'm impressed.

^it was enough to put me off until I came to my senses and realized I didn't need 3 gaming consoles on top of my 2 handhelds. In my mind, and the way a lot of people/media outlets talk about it, it's just a matter of 'when', not 'if'.I realize it's probably (mostly) fixed now, but it's not something I want to deal with. Much less pay out the ass for the privilege of dealing with it.^next firmware update should take care of those XviD/DivX files for ya.[Edited on December 11, 2007 at 1:51 PM. Reason : d]

there's no SET release schedule for FW updates, but we've been getting an average of 1/month roughly.
12/11/2007 2:38:06 PM
oh sweet, so its not like xbox where its 'fall update' 'spring update' etc
12/11/2007 2:52:08 PM
the next update will probably be sometime this month, have divx/xvid support, and probably BD 1.1 supportprobably
12/11/2007 2:53:43 PM
well thats good...i won't bother with the media center then. I don't have a PC anymore so my only solution was partitioning the iMac and putting Vista on it.
12/11/2007 2:54:59 PM
You don't have a PC Golvoko? Just a Mac?
12/11/2007 3:27:06 PM
Just sold my gaming PC. so i only have Macs at home now.
12/11/2007 3:31:27 PM
thread hijacked. So has anyone played UT3 yet? its been getting some pretty good reviews and feedback.
12/11/2007 4:51:36 PM
i picked it up today...played for an hour between studyingso far it brings me back to the days of ut on ps2 and pc...if you have ever played ut then you know what type of deal it is...i will say that i tried both controller and m/kb and mouse and kb are way easier and better; however, you can set it so you only play on servers for mixed, only m/kb, or controller so that evens it out i recommend so far
12/11/2007 6:08:21 PM
12/11/2007 6:08:42 PM
^whys that? I enjoy using a Mac more so than I did my PC. The only thing I ever did on the PC was gaming. My Mac is where I do all my development (at home and at work)

anyone buy the bowling game in the ps3 arcade? Its a sixaxis game so I was wondering if its anything like the Wii sports bowling. In the info panel it says it simulated real bowling but I didn't think sixaxis had that kind of capabilities. Figured it would give you control like FLOW
12/11/2007 9:53:32 PM
Flow is the best game on the ps3.
12/11/2007 10:00:47 PM
its sad but its true lol
12/11/2007 10:02:20 PM
^^^^^ Sick, thanks for the info. That's awesome that you can filter matches for people that are only using controllers, makes me very happy. I am very close to buying this game.
12/11/2007 11:53:29 PM
for the bowling game, you hold the controller sideways (the 'skinny' part) with your index and pinky on the triggers. You use the triggers to put spin on the ball and swing the controller like you would a bowling ball. It's actually much deeper than Wii Bowling (more degrees of control) and there's some pretty cool random obstacles they throw at you, challenges to complete, etc.Oh, and it also has custom soundtracks. Which is nice but also makes me worry that Sony is leaving it up to the devs to implement this feature, rather than making it standard across all games. That would be a huge mistake, IMHO.
12/12/2007 10:34:09 AM
so its not like Wii where your hand motion determines spin etc? If you flick your wrist while following through it will put spin on the ball.
12/12/2007 10:35:44 AM
12/12/2007 10:41:27 AM
for games or for PS3 updates?
12/12/2007 10:43:11 AM
updates
12/12/2007 12:09:20 PM
well, kinda like on your profile it says "Worxing for d00k"And that's less lame not to mention stupid sounding than what I said? Give it a rest already, all of you....it's not working. On to actually relevant topics maybe?
12/12/2007 12:28:54 PM
LOL.
12/12/2007 1:19:15 PM
^x5, I'm guessing that was supposed to be funny? That joke's already been done, sorry bud.In the bowling game, you use the triggers to control spin. While it's not as 'intuitive' as Wii bowling, it allows for truer control of the spin. Wii bowling seems like it only has 2-3 different 'degrees' of spin you can put on it.
12/12/2007 1:26:45 PM
Do you get to feel the rumble of the ball rolling down the lane or hitting the pins?Or is that a sore spot to bring up?
12/12/2007 3:23:23 PM
the rumble is in my stomach since I can't afford to eat now that I bought a PS3.(jk lame joke)
12/12/2007 3:38:40 PM
^^ Do you normally feel rumble in your hand after releasing the ball when you are actually at the bowling alley? You're a fucking idiot.
