I guess a Big Ten playing in Hawaii on championship weekend is just odd

Maybe it's just me

MWC is for real. Did you see what Utah did to Bama? what byu did to oklahoma? TCU took them both to the woodshed. They score big AND hold their opponents low. They've had a good defense and rushing game for years but now its all come togheter.

so after that debacle of a Big 12 title game, are the bullshit media polls still going to pull rank over the BCS computers and put Texas over Cincy?

Hey, now... don't question Texas. They did beat ONE ranked team this year in the final polls!

and their toughest OOC was in Laramie... you don't go in to Larmie and beat Wyoming...

because the only reason it changed was because it was the last play of the game.

NCAA Football, and many other sports are riddled with a "only fix it if it's the end of the game"Itis

as was said already.... how often is the clock looked at on a pass that's thrown away during the game? It only mattered that it was the last play of the game, and no im not naive, but it's hypocritical at best.

If Nebraska had thrown that away and the clock had ran to 00 just like that, it would have been game over...but when its one of these media favorites that are expected to win, they get every second chance possible. That extra second always ticks off, and it never gets put back on. Never seen time put back on the clock like that...this isnt a fucking basketball game...was Coach K on the Texas sideline? Nebraska should have won this game because Texas should have never had a chance to kick it.

texas doesn't have a shot against bama. so at least that 'balances' out the universe somewhat. fuck.

boise state, tcu, cincy will never have a chance with the bullshit bcs. fuck college football till a playoff is created.

Who cares if the clock runs for an extra second elsewhere in the game. It doesn't affect the final outcome like getting this timing issue wrong would have.

Please note. I'm unhappy Texas won and I wish that the clock had run out so that McCoy could be rediculed for eternity ala chris weber. But I'm just glad the right call was made with ir rather than the wrong one as has happened so many times this season.

That call where the ref said the Texas player was down on the 1 yard line during that kickoff return was a bad call and I don't see anyone complaining about it. 1 second left was the right call... and Texas was incredibly stupid to even get themselves in that situation. 9 seconds left? Don't run a 7 second play and then lob the ball up in the air. THey got lucky.

The more unbeaten teams there are at the end of this year the better. I don't care who I have to pull for. I wouldn't mind seeing 3 (or more depending on how the bowl selection pans out) unbeaten teams at the end of the year.

Boise State.

Nebraska wins and they get the Liberty bowl or some shit. Now they'll be in a BCS bowl.

my problem with the play is that you rewarded texas for being greedy. pass plays always let a second off after it goes out of bounds. texas had a timeout and mccoy couldve just fell down and called it but he wouldve lost a few yards so he rolls out and throws it into the stands. that took the time.

had he fallen down and called the timeout, texas kicker would've been short. the refs gave texas an extra second to be greedy

What the fuck are you talking about. The replay clearly shows the ball hitting the ground out of bounds with one second left. "greed" has nothing to do with it

But seriously, the number of plays reviewed today by the officials in every game was absurd.

Need to go to the NFL system of coach's challenges except in the final 2 minutes.

i'm talking about mccoys options.

fall down and call timeout or throw the ball out of bounds and hope it makes it in 3 seconds (never happened that quickly before)

he chose the risky one and the refs bailed him out.

[Edited on December 6, 2009 at 12:13 AM. Reason : if not, the fg is short after losing the yardage]

Refs did a good job with setting the clock to 1 sec. left but McCoy being an experience QB should have recognized the time that was left. They got lucky. If they don't play any better then Alabama is going to roll all over them. ROLL TIDE!!!

I disagree. NFL officials are much better than college. Even in the NFL this play would have been reviewed and overturned. Almost makes you wonder if colt suffered a concussion.

The refs didn't bail anyone out. They just got the call right.

i dont know if falling down was a "safe" option there

he was at like the 42. that's a 55+ yarder. he was just an idiot and had no clue how much time was left

The refs didn't bail him out, the rulebook bailed him out.

When there is time left on the clock, you are allowed to run plays, silly.

^^Are the NFL comments at me? I'm not saying anything was bad on this play. I'm saying all day in college football in general, every even somewhat close big play was reviewed to the point of getting fairly ridiculous.

Bweez. Yes the NFL comments were at you. I just think that the officiating success rate is much lower in college. NFL officials are much better at getting the call right in the first place. In college with two coach challenges there'd be a small but relatively large portion of games where 2 or 3 challenges wouldn't be enough.

^^^Maybe you're talking about the bowl game against Cal last year.

Because Miami had some of the worst clock management I've ever seen at the end of that game.

^I dunno.

Out of probably 10+ official reviews I saw today, one was overturned (and that one was probably incorrect, the GT two point attempt).

But I understand your point.

So Alabama and Texas play in thirty three (33) days

Imagine the Colts and Saints wait that long after the regular season to play the Super Bowl, with no games in between

I just think if it's going to stay this way then they need to be a little more selective about which plays to review. We need someone saying "WHOA THAT CALL DOESN'T LOOK RIGHT," rather than "WHOA THAT CALL SEEMS LIKE IT COULD MAYBE BE CLOSE" all the time, on virtually every big play.

Uh, TOB wins the "I took timeouts into halftime/end of game" award this season, we've all seen that. While Les Miles and Mack Brown gave him a run for cluelessness, TOB can rest easy, mission accomplished.

now that the regular season is over for the heisman candidates, i will be pretty outraged if Ingram doesnt win the heisman. he just torched the #1 defense in the nation and he's played against more ranked teams and top defenses this season than any other candidate. in every big game this year he has shown up, the only blemish would be at auburn where he was injured and playing.

I have never seen time put on the clock in a situation where it is that close. It takes time for the official to signal the ball dead, and then the dude in the box has to hit the button...

this was not what replay was intended for, and a total crock of shit, but of course the big 12 wanted this outcome

DISCLAIMER: I do agree, the ball hit the ground with less than .1 still on the clock, however, in every football game ive ever watched in my entire life, i have never seen time put back on like that in something so close.
