Been playing bad lately ZvP which is typically my favorite matchup. Just had a pretty fun one. I had decided I wanted to try a hatch fake into 11RR against a forge first expanding toss. Of course he goes forge but uses it for a quick +1 4 gate. I end up supply blocking myself and push with 7 roaches and dont really have a good angle to hit his forge/cannon/gate and I end up losing them all. At this point I'm behind like 10 drones and my 2nd is just finishing. I manage to push out speed lings and +1 along with a few spines just as his 4 gate finishes and I hold him off. At this point he is still wayyy up in supply/drones. I sacrifice a few lings to see his army, mostly zealot/stalker with a couple of immortals.. I guess he figured I would go back roach. After taking my third I barely get out like 12 mutas in time to help stop his next push. He is on three bases at this point as well and still up in supply/drones. Finally I max out while he is still at 180ish and he makes the mistake of trying to pump out phoenix only to catch up to the muta count, so I push him as he takes the gold and his army is a smallish gateway army with 1 colossi, like 10 zealots who were all trapped inside his ball of stalkers and 7 or so phoenix. 28 mutas and 90 lings raped them.


He then raged hard about how mutas were the easiest unit in the game and zerg have the best air and anti air.

Beat a guy today in a ZvP who went 4 gate blink stalker. He goes, "Damn this build never works against Masters players." I go, "Maybe that is because it sucks and is an all-in." He responded, "I'm just being a creative player." I asked how 4 gating with Blink, something that is ridiculously easy to execute and has been around since Beta was creative.

Of course this disintegrated into a typical b.net back and forth where I at one point was making fun of him for spelling "cheap" wrong. Gotta love b.net.

Played an epic TTvTT with my roommate last night. It was on gutterhulk a map that I despise. I don't know why he hadn't X'ed it but whatever. They proxy their bases to the middle at the towers. I threw down a bunker on the high ground, they gave an offensive gg, and they rushed with marines. We pushed them back but they were getting tanks up faster than us and were utilizing medivacs to spot the high ground and harass with drops. I got vikings to counter and some banshees to save my roommates base. Eventually I broke through their lines with marines and a medivac. Cleaned up production structures and hit an expo. My roommate rebuilt his base twice and helped push with mauraders against their Thor. Eventually they quit out.

I will post the replay later today.

So I've been playing a lot of Team Monobattle lately, and I have the worst luck with going random. I always get stupid things like queens, or warp prism. So I've gotten really good at going offensive hatchery and spine rushing.

Won a bunch of them doing that the other night w/ zags.

cheesing is stupidly effective in team monobattles. If the game starts and you see they have only one or two tier 1 units, just go cheese them and it's gg.

The map that they do it on is pretty bad.

A better map would limit it some, especially cannon rushing.

But for now, the offensive hatchery is pretty fun to do and I've gotten pretty good at it.

Well, there are 7 preliminary rounds. I don't know what happens afterward. Also, it's a pro-am tourney so I'm guessing that the pros play one-another and the amateurs play against one another. I think the amateurs compete for swag but I haven't read the information in depth.

Also, I dunno what this first guy's problem was. We played game one on shakuras, spawned cross positions, and I massed marines and pushed out to halfway across the map while stim was researching. Expoed and pushed up his ramp as stim finished. Sniped his little bio ball and two tanks as they were starting to siege up.

He picked metalopolis and as the game started he said the game speed was set wrong, so we restarted, I double checked to make sure it was on "Faster" and he said to change it to fast. I was like "What?" He claimed that what the ladder games are on. I disagreed but he was persistent. I said whatever dude, set it to fast, and beat him in what felt like the slowest game ever. I 5 or 6 raxed without stim and went to his base. He scanned my rax as they were building and didnt throw down any barracks or cut marauder production. The first wave of 10 marines got taken out but he had a single marine and marauder left. The second wave of 15 marines a-sealed the a-deal.

^TeamLiquid.net is good for finding out about all that. Probably the best website for SC2 information and there is a strategy section and all.

I haven't been able to play as much because of work, but still fun when I can get on and as always will generally play team games if anyone is on and wants to play.

I keep playing monobattles. I wanted to make a push for #1 1v1 masters before season 3 but monobattles distract me. Had some hilarious ones today... we had carrier (me), medivac, warp prism, queen vs stalker, archon, infestor, marauder or something. I cannon rushed 3 of the 4 and the marauder terran managed to escape and mass, but he was toast at that point.

I wish the other monobattle maps were played much, they are better maps.

Altogether though i need to go back to playing 1v1, getting rusty.

Started playing 1v1s again. I really need to learn to not go +1 melee when Im going roach in zvz. I dont know why I always do it. Just had a game where he went for a 1 base roach +1/+1 timing push, I was defending on two base and I was supposed to have +1. Instead I had +1 melee. Ended up working out for the best though as I just reinforced with lings on my later push after defending and they did nicely

Were you playing custom 1v1's? Your ladder rank is only going to change if you go to multiplayer and hit the find match button. If you were playing 2v2 on the ladder with him you may not have played enough placement matches yet.

I had my 2nd preliminary match last night. The guy was a no show. 4-0 baby!

As for another turn of events, my younger brother, TheForged, had to play a grandmasters last night. My brother messages the guy and asked if he wanted to play. The GM was like, What? No. Who are you? My Bro was like "you know, for the geforce tourney". He was like I'm in a tourney? Ken said, nevermind, my bad. And reported the guy as a no show.

I have fun with monobattles all the time. However, you can't just walk into one. It takes some setup:

-You and your teammates need to care more about following the monobattle rules than winning
-Your party needs to have voice communication
-Your team rank shouldn't be higher than gold, if any rank at all (assuming you're going against a random ladder team)
-Unless you plan on submitting/keeping replays, you don't need to announce your units at the beginning
