i wish that guy would have but the same amount of effort into straightening his teeth as he did whitening them. overall, they weren't any worse than anyone else they could have brought in.

I'm fine with it. I mean, they pretty much stuck to script without going all Marvin Gaye on the song.

But I do like hearing the marching band play it, just cause it sounds good when a big band plays it.

I live and work in SC so there are a lot of Clemson and SC fans. The row of cubes across the wall from me has 3 old South Carolina fans and today they were talking amongst themselves and I guess 1 guy has to miss the game now for some reason and he said "eh its ok, its not like the season really starts until the next game anyways."

All I've heard them talking about the past couple weeks is the Georgia game. (their 2nd game). Its just fired me up even more heh.

I second the "not bad, just not right" comment. The guy is on key and has a good voice, there's just something off about the whole thing. It's like eerie and cheesy at the same time.

"And then you have Sean Spence, who was like the ACC Rookie of the Year if you will."

for one, it doesn't make sense, and for two.....its fucking wrong

Trimane Goddard was the just like that in high school as well. I went to high school with him and he was our starting qb, and db, as well as the punt returner and kick off returner.

He was clocked at 90mph on a fastball (baseball he was our best pitcher)

Also, he was the PG in basketball.

He worked out pretty good for UNC but didnt make it to the NFL. It's probably just because he went to play for such a ***** school.

This is what I like to hear! I'm so effing happy to have TOB as our coach.

Quote :
"The team is looking strong. Every year from now on, there is no reason we should not have a winning season and be able to go to a bowl game. The goal is to be ACC champs and go to the national championship game, that’s what we set out to do, but at the worst we should end up at a bowl game. We are tired of playing each other. Everyone knows everyone else’s moves, and we are ready to be tested in the opener."

Sorry, late to the game. Maybe it's all the generic/cliché rock poses the guy feels he needs to strike while singing the national anthem.

I expected the one guy to start breaking out in "what if, what if, what if, what if, eyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeiah" and the other guy to start jamming out some RATM.

Terrible.

TOB on front page of http://www.cbssports.com

Quote :
" If it's Friday night in Gainesville and the Florida Gators are playing a football game the next day at The Swamp, Tim Tebow deserves a hotel room. How could he sleep in his apartment? He could not. He deserves a hotel room, and dammit, the University of Florida will spend the money to get him -- and his teammates, at a cost of roughly $40,000 for the season -- that room.

It's not a hotel, but Stanford did pay a large sum just for a bathroom for Jim Harbaugh. And it's the same thing at Oklahoma with Sam Bradford. And at North Carolina State with, um, whoever plays quarterback for North Carolina State. And at Tennessee and Oregon and Purdue and South Carolina and just about everywhere college football is played at the BCS level.

Players need a hotel room on Friday night."

My response to Doyle, I never post but I had too share this since I know he won't add it to his "Hate Mail" blog:

"Because I'm not an absolute moron."??? Not sure about that one Gregg, your article is completely off-target.
First, that money comes from the pockets of willing boosters and flows to local businesses. In these economic times I'm sure those business owners appreciate having someone stay in their hotels, but I guess that is just fiscally irresponsible. "Stimulating" the local economy without government funds, say it isn’t so(We both know that even for state schools the money for the hotels come from football revenues, not any state or federal funds)
Second, it is not only to protect students from being a moron, but also to hold meetings, feed the athletes, ensure everyone is accounted for, and to keep them away from "outside" distractions (the $5 mil booster is at least a controllable distraction, I too was a teenager once before and I don't know any teenage male that wouldn't answer the knock at the dorm room door from a girlfriend at 3am, pre-game night or not). Besides not everyone can play coked out of their mind like UNC’s Lawrence Taylor, I like the idea of the team I support being isolated from outside temptations.
Remember, athletic scholarships are business investments, these hotel expenses are simply a cost associated with increasing the ROI (Return on Investment) of those scholarships. It's not arrogance, it's smart business if it increases the product on the field, thus increasing the number of paying viewers to watch that product.(NC State just had it's 9th consecutive year selling out season tickets) The fact is a university is a business, and like every business it must generate revenue. (Good Football = Higher Revenue) If staying in the hotel increases the level of play, which it makes sense that it would, then why wouldn't a university do it if they had the resources to do so.
Third, why single out NC State??? Are you a UNC-CH grad?/bandwagon fan?
Finally, I understand that everyone has this nostalgic feeling about football, I do as well. It would be nice if the money wasn't involved and your average kid could come out of the stands and play like the "Aggie 12th Man" (that is a reference to Texas A&M in case you are wondering). It is wrong what $5 mil can buy in Gainesville, but in the end this is a business. Look at it this way, lots of young men (and women in all the sports Football supports) get high quality education OPPORTUNITIES because of the revenue football programs generate. Additionally the University of Florida Athletic Dept just gave $8 MILLION back to the University of Florida to help the university cover expenses. They did it because Tim Tebow stayed at a Holiday Inn Express the night before each game and because he did they generated more revenue. This meant they turned a profit, which allowed them to give $8 million to the University general fund! That makes $86K investments in hotels seem a lot less shocking than you try to portray.
BTW NC State's Quarterback is Russell Wilson, All-ACC 1st Team QB and ACC ROY in 2008. You might not know him now, you will by November.
