So on a vain note, I can't stop flexing and looking at my arms. I am one step away from kissing them every time I look at them. I love how I am seeing triceps, biceps, deltoids(not as much but better) and my weenus is becoming wonderfully taut. I might be more insecure of fat arms than fat thighs or gut so this is too joyous." |
awesome!
And to think...TWW helped you! Did anyone ever think they could say that and mean it?

I'm not sure, how far is a 1/4 mile in yards? When I took swim conditioning in college our final exam was to swim the mile in less than 32 minutes (for men, 35 for women). I was somewhere in the 28 minute range 7/7/2010 1:06:41 PM |

1/4 mile would be 440 yards. A mile would be 1760 yards. Good time for the 1650 yard is under 16 minutes. So i assume like 17 minutes is a good time for the mile? So 28 is pretty slow? I don't know. 7/7/2010 1:24:24 PM |

I swam in high school and took swim conditioning in college. I was in good shape and swam my mile in 26 minutes non-stop. The faster swimmers did it in about 20ish. A 17 minute mile is a good time for a competitive swimmer.

haha yeah he swam before college but not in college. Don't know why he didn't. Could have done varsity or whatever. He swam at the Mecklenburg Aquatic Center in Charlotte. I should have gotten swimming lessons from him. Only thing in a triatholon i'm not comfortable with. I guess that's typically the case. I doubt I could do a 30 minute mile. 7/7/2010 2:06:58 PM |

It was fucking miserable outside today. Today was my brick day, did a little over 15 miles at a slower pace than I did 30+ 2 days ago because of the heat. I then started to do my 5k run and then said, "fuck this" and went inside and did 5k on my elliptical. Probably going to rest tomorrow and then go for a longish ride on Friday. 7/7/2010 7:14:40 PM |

btw, everyone that likes protein, likes chocolate, and likes desert needs to try this:
I just got out of work a half hour ago (today I demo'd a wall with a crowbar after working out biceps, forearms, and abs) and I wanted something sweet after dinner, because desert is rare for me. Microwave it for 30 secs so it's really soft and it tastes ridiculously good. 7/7/2010 10:47:17 PM |

^ Fat is good for you. It can be bad in combination with a lot of processed sugars, but if you read the ingredients in that thing you won't find any highly-processed ingredients or refined sugars.
Not all sugar is created equal. The sugars in that bar are complex sugars (read: maltotriose as opposed to glucose or sucrose) with a low glycemic index. Those kinds of sugars break down slowly over hours, avoiding the insulin spike associated with processed, sugary foods. 7/8/2010 3:04:59 AM |

ok since we're on the subject of food
how about these 50cent for 2 salami things. i translated the label:
Quote : | "Ingredients: pork, pork fat, iodine-containing salt, dextrose, spices, herbs, preservative: sodium nitrate, antioxidant: sodium ascorbate, spices, extracts, smoke. 100g salami was prepared with 151g pork
100g contains: 1905 kJ / 460 kcal 24g protein 1g carbohydrates 40 fat" |
each salami stick is 25g, so per stick:
115 calories (because wtf at 460,000 cal, must be wrong) 6g protein 0.25g carbs 10g fat7/8/2010 5:11:29 AM |

That is a good rule of thumb and helps you avoid highly processed chemical based foods
At some point one needs to apply their mind to certain questions though instead of blindly following rules
If I made a smoothie out of 16 fruits and vegetables would it be unhealthy because it had 5+ ingredients? No

i have been horrible since i went on vacation a week ago. i've worked out once.
and on top of it, i'm having all the same stomach issues i was having last year when i went gluten free except now i am gluten free and i still feel like i want to die. i think i'm going to make an appointment with my GP, although everytime i go to see him, he tells me everything is fine
i hate stomach aches, and stomach issues.....to the point where if someone touches my arm or face or anything, i want to vomit.
on top of it, i'm now gaining weight. kill.me.now. 7/8/2010 7:46:07 AM |
Quinn All American 16417 Posts user info edit post |
Cass are you sure its not somewhat stress/anxiety related?
I had stomach issues pretty bad for over a year. I had an endoscopy and everything trying to figure it out. I pretty much gave up and assumed it was something i would just live with. Prilosec OTC helped me tremendously which is odd because i had tried nexium and acidphex before. It sucks to take drugs daily but its even worse to feel nauseous after eating.
Good luck with it. I can relate and know how crappy it is.

You made this though, you didn't buy it premade. That is where most of the bad shit comes from. Anything you can make with fresh food is tons better for your body then preservatives, nitrates, and lesser quality food.7/8/2010 8:28:59 AM |
Solinari All American 16957 Posts user info edit post |
I know, but my point is... did those people read the ingredients list on that nutrition facts label, or just knee-jerk react to the length of it. There was no bad shit or preservatives, nitrates, or lesser quality foods in that bar.
If someone down the street made a smoothie out of 32 fruits and vegetables, slapped a nutrition facts label on it, and sold it to me for $3, would it be unhealthy because it had 5+ ingredients? no.
The point is, the 5 ingredients rule is a rule of thumb (which I use, too), but sometimes rules of thumb don't always work.
That's all I'm sayin. 7/8/2010 8:31:58 AM |

i've done the whole prilosec/nexium thing a while back. this is really low stomach pain......like in my intestines and not so much in the middle part of my body. and this isn't just after i eat.....the pain will go on for hours and hours. 7/8/2010 8:32:54 AM |

yeah, there is nothing wrong with that bar but it has to much sugar for me. I wasn't trying to argue with you just saying, in general, the less ingredients something has the better it is for health. 7/8/2010 8:38:31 AM |
