supposedly the 'authentic' jerseys dont ave the tag. I have the BrindAmour replica, and the tag hasnt bothered me at all. I thought it would, but the jersey is pretty freaking cool, so I havent given it a thought.

The Edge jerseys don't have the tag, and they also cost about $250 (and that's without a name I think!). I've also heard they tear easier. I've never noticed the tag on anyone wearing one, so maybe it won't stick out as much as it seems.

got cullen, samsonov, and aucoin's autograph tonight

the locker room is a lot smaller than i thought it would be

(after Ruutu high stick, on the bench)

"Oooh my.. gawd."

"Is it that bad?"

"It's... h-horrible."

"It's not that bad, put this towel on it."

"Are you kidding me? Look at him."

that's as close to what i can remember about what laviolette said happened on the bench after that high stick. when you visualize cole standing there looking at it it's hilarious. maybe not as funny without laviolette saying it or something i left out though.

also another funny moment is when they take questions from the crowd and a boy, i dunno, probably 7-10yrs old, couldn't really see him, asks "who decides the trades" or something to that effect, laviolette says "Not me." and laughs and then asks "Who did you not want to see go away, did you like Commodore, Stillman, or Ladd or something like that?" the boy says "I didn't like any of them.."

the discussion would have been better with forsland than tripp though.
the pictures up in the press box in the hall are amazing..

yeah.

he didn't really talk much during those two moments

and i have picked up either the flu from the doctors office from unrelated issues or the team has it still sticking around somewhere, i sort of doubt this.. its just completely ironic.

either that or the BBQ they gave out was bad...

[Edited on March 3, 2008 at 11:16 PM. Reason : ]

oh he did tell the story of being at brind'amour's house and knowing when to leave when he took his dinner out to the hot tub

This is setting up for some kind of epic disaster where Samsonov goes bust and the fan base implodes since it seems like literally everyone now pretty much wants to marry him.

Nobody else is going to be willing to give him anything I bet. He went to Montreal and was an epic bust. Went to Chicago and was an epic bust. I say we sign him for 2 years at $2 million per.

The 3.5 he makes now is way to much.

Hm. Now that might explain a few things.

To be fair, there's not much to teach about a penalty kill in general. By the time you're playing on the PK at the NHL level, you know the basic principles: only one man into the offensive zone, don't throw hits, don't go below the goal line, don't chase too far to the point if a passing lane is open, etc. Everything that's coached on a day-to-day basis on an NHL PK is tailored to the specific PP attack of the next opponent.

^yeah, but it's still always good to develop chemistry with whoever you are playing with in almost all situations.

Well, here's the thing...there's no system involved in a kill because there's no breakout. If you can get an outlet pass, great, but your first thought as a defenseman in that position is not to look for a winger on the boards. Couple that with the fact that any one of your normal eight killers could be the one in the box, and you basically just have to trust that whoever is playing one of the four positions does their job...stay tight and get the puck out.

Just by looking at the end of the schedule, I hope we have things wrapped up before the last couple of games. We close out our season a day before Washington, and they get to play the Panthers who will not win that game, especially if there is a chance of them moving up in the draft by losing.

Nobody here is ashamed about being the former Whalers. The Whalers ruled. The real question is when are the Devils going to move? Incredible new $texas building and yet they are still at the bottom of the league in attendance.

so tomorrow is B1G1 with a VIC card? I think I saw something about it somewhere but coouldnt confirm it anywhere on the canes site. gotta hit that up

by the way, I am predicting a Scott Walker pissed-fest tonight which may or may not consist of a fight, a Keith Aucoin goal, and and a pint of blood on the ice.

Bret Hedican is many things:

I had the Hedican suite a couple of years ago and Kristi Yamaguchi was in there asking me about something on the menu... well she whips out one of the girls and starts breast-feeding right there... very uncomfortable moment

Poorly.

Yes tomorrow is BOGO with the Harris Teeter card. Will be rocking out the $40 seats at center ice for $20. And I will be seeing Gaborik for the 2nd time this season. Sweet.

OR

sop://broker.sopcast.com:3912/45749

USE VLC

"# Start the SopCast stream and let it buffer.
# VLC, go to Open Network Stream, select "HTTP" option, and type in 127.0.0.1:8902 (If port 8902 doesn't work, try 8912).
# You MUST leave SopCast running; closing SopCast closes the stream.
# You may need to mute the sound on SopCast so it doesn't bleed with the sound in VLC."
