I got a very neat invitation from a friend yesterday. The invitation was printed on a handkerchief, wrapped around a RSVP postcard.
http://www.lucky-luxe.com was on postcard. As a textile person, I thought it was very cute, and very well done. They do this kind of.. retro style but it feels modern. I don't know, I was very pleasantly surprised. 3/16/2011 10:21:01 AM |

i used a travel agent in another city to book my most recent "girls trip" so you don't have to use someone local if you can't find anyone
i'd be happy to send you the info, she's a good friend of one of the girls going on the girls trip so while i don't know her i consider her legit.
we ended up booking an all inclusive resort in mexico for 4 days and all 3 of us are flying from different cities so it was really nice to just have someone else figure out all the details 3/16/2011 1:46:57 PM |

Ordered one of these for our guest book: http://www.etsy.com/people/TheHandmadeBoutique?ref=ls_profile. We are using a fujifilm instax camera. We are spending more then most do for the guest book but I think it will be much cooler to have lots of pictures of everyone who was at our wedding compared to just names in a book. 3/16/2011 8:29:33 PM |

Yes...BeeLine Travel in Raleigh. We have departments that specialize in all sorts of different destinations. We have an entire department just for Costa Rica, Belize and Panama. We also have a Fiji specialist and somebody who specializes in all things Disney.
btw, speaking of Bass Lake...they are having a wedding show on April 3rd from 1-4p...My husband and my catering company will be there. Apparently they only let 2 vendors per category participate so it could be a small show.3/17/2011 4:00:21 PM |

^2 that. is. AWESOME. making a mental note
I know some of y'all probably saw this on FB, but we got a sneak peek of our engagement pictures and I seriously LOL every time I look at this picture. My "serious" face is ridiculous, Eric looks ridiculous in his Beaker mask (our homage to when we made the masks for the NCSU/UNC game in 2009), and the guys posing are ridiculous (they were way into it).
We should get the rest in a week or so... I'm so exciteddd It's weird though, I'm actually excited to see our "nice" shots the most versus silly/playful ones 3/20/2011 7:53:56 PM |

Hi Ladies, and some gents, I need your help again. My sister is trying to plan a bridal shower for me and I cannot for the life of me come up with any ideas as to where. We don't want anything terribly expensive. I'd like to keep it close to Raleigh. and for probably about 10-15 girls. Ideas? 3/22/2011 6:04:55 PM |

Is that Nacstates' engagement pic at the top? What an AWESOME picture. Very natural, real, and fun.
This thread has been a wealth of information.
New question:
I just got my save the dates in- they're magnets. They look awesome and they're functional. I addressed some envelopes with my printer...and they look really sharp, actually. However, I kind of want something a little personal in the save the date envelope. I'm sending stuff to aunts and uncles, cousins, etc and want to make it a little more customized. What can I add to the envelopes to give it a touch of personality? There's a photograph of us on the magnets.... I was thinking a little note on some stationary? But for 75 people? (150 invitees- but sending out about 75 envelopes). Drop in a leaf from a palm tree from Texas? Leave it impersonal? My handwriting looks like a 9 year old's....What are some things you've seen done? 3/23/2011 8:17:47 PM |
wolfpackgrrr All American 39759 Posts user info edit post |
I used embossing powder and stamps to emboss the outside of our envelopes. Everyone thought I had bought the envelopes that way it looked so nice! Hopefully I'll remember to take a picture to show you tomorrow since I have a spare one in my car Anyway, you could find a stamp that goes along with your wedding, your life whatever, and emboss the front of the envelopes with it. 3/23/2011 9:48:43 PM |

My friend mailed out her magnets in envelopes and they got beat all to hell on the way to us so for that reason I'd say save the special extras for the invites...but if you are dying to do something for the save the dates, try to do something related to your overall theme. We are getting married at the beach so our save the dates were tiny bottles filled with shells and sand and a map rolled up inside with our date on it. 3/23/2011 10:44:33 PM |

Found out while at dinner with a friend tonight that a mutual friend of ours hasn't received her wedding invite yet. I mailed those out months ago. My guess is that she didn't tell me she had moved apartments between when I sent out save the dates and invites so it got lost being forwarded. She's probably like, "wtf I got a save the date but wasn't invited to the wedding ." 3/23/2011 11:01:19 PM |

wolfpackgrrr-awesome, thanks! Paw- Dude....that's a fantastic idea. I love the message in a bottle idea. I'm trying to stay away from cliche beach motifs...but the message in a bottle is too fun to pass up. I already ordered the magnets, though. I'm sure I'll figure something out- I'm the world's greatest procrastinator. 3/23/2011 11:12:20 PM |

^^^ I love it because the embossed area was slightly glossy and raised. I bought the stamp at Joann for half off and stamping and embossing the 50 envelopes took a little less than an hour. The embossing powder is pretty cheap and goes on sale regularly. I just needed a little vial to complete the project and still had a little left. The heat gun is kind of pricey but it's on sale this week at Joann, or you can use the 40%/50% coupons the craft stores always put in the Sunday paper. I definitely wouldn't buy one full price. 3/25/2011 8:22:09 AM |

Two of my bridesmaids got their dresses from here: http://www.eshakti.com/default.asp
One paid 50 dollars, the other 35. Which doesn't really help for physical shopping but it's an option 3/25/2011 10:20:28 AM |
