I will sell you the 18"s for semi-baller status drifting

haha wait, were you the one wanting those Hankooks? He did say someone wanted just the tires

Before:
46 lbs x 2 fronts (conti DWS in 225/40/18)
57 lbs x 2 rears (goodyear eagle F1 run-flats in 275/40/18.. yeah yeah that's all they had in used stock)

After:
38 lbs x 4 (hankook RS2 in 245/45/16) I imagine "autocross" tires are heavier than street tires.. yes, no?

Total unsprung weight savings: 54 lbs
that's like.. losing 4000 sprung lbs or something

I do miss the meaty look at the rear, but the car seems much more peppy from a dig

doesn't have to be used, pretty much you're going to make more torque with compounds down low...spooling a diesel requires a pocket watch without nitrous. when running one as a single you're spinning 3-4k+ when staging, and are pretty much a BAMF. also noteworthy, Black's diesel drag truck runs a single S591 with nitrous.

I'm right at 10#/hp (per dyno), 8.4@90 in the 1/8th. and yes, yes I know I post about it all the time.

New Jeep needs a water pump?

G8 gets a bath, and some sealant on rolled fenders. Rolling creates a nice pocket for water to rust in.

Yeah it's a design flaw. They made the plastic impellers so that when they expand they contact the pump housing and it sqeals.

This guy should be canned!!

Yeah, t'was I, but I didn't feel like buying the set just to keep keep the tires and resell the wheels.

For seriousness though, if you get smaller stuff, I'll holler at those 245 guys.

On the DR650

New supermoto fender (some trees may have broken the other one)
Warp 9 3 finger clutch lever.
Replaced misc washers/bolts

On the way:

Cycra pro bend handguards (barkbuster+handguard combo)
Skid Plate

Soon:
New handlebars/grips
Front forks rebuild (upgrading springs, replacing seals/rings, and maybe adding some dynamic drop in cartridges.)

After all that I think I will be done spending money on it for a while. Until next year maybe.

Picked up a tint kit from Advance and tinted the 335i. If you follow the directions closely, you really can't tell a difference between it and a $200-$300 job.

Anyone have advice on where to purchase an OEM-spec suspension bushing kit? All my searches online thus far have only found me polyurethane bushing kits and I am not looking for something that hard core.

Also, if you were overhauling the suspension on a 22 year old car with 304k miles, would you replace the springs? i.e., do springs wear out?

I douuuubbbtttt you're going to find an OEM kit.... I looked a while back for my 91civic with no success.

Those trailing arm pivot bushings are going to be the suck $$$$

I'd do springs, struts, bushing, and tie rods..... if you plan to keep the car.

How's the engine doing at 304,000?

She starting to smoke much? My buddy's civic dx had no piston rings left at 200,000 I know the engines are completely different but I'm just wondering.

^^I guess I'll probably go with this Energy Suspension kit: (http://www.autoaccessoriesgarage.com/Suspension/Energy-Suspension-Hyper-Flex-Bushing-Kit/_Item/_546100013?utm_source=google&utm_medium=Suspension&utm_campaign=GoogleProducts&utm_term=Energy-Suspension-Hyper-Flex-Bushing-Kit&gclid=CMOTy9uUwL0CFaw-Mgod8FAA7A)

Description says it works well for Daily Driving duty.

sumfoo1, the engine would appear to be doing just fine. No smoke out the exhaust, except during high rpm VTEC usage (which to a degree is actually normal). Oil consumption is about a quart every 3-4,000 miles (though I think most of the oil lost is from a small leak). The B17A has forged internals so that probably helps the engine's robustness.

Got a nasty drivetrain vibration when accelerating moderately to hard in 1st or 2nd gears - gone in all other gears. Last shop I had the car at said that was being caused by the clutch flywheel. That sound right?

tint kit?

I bought some pre-cut tint for my Sienna from Ebay and did it myself. I used to cut my own from those in-store rolls and did terribly. I am very happy with the Ebay kit.

I don't think that sounds right. Usually, I attribute drivetrain vibration like that to a worn out inboard CV joint. The shaft and the joint cup no longer rotate on incident axes under load/torque. When coasting, they tend to center up a bit and the vibration subsides. Why only in the lower gears? That's where you have the most applied torque. It could possibly also be due to a worn support bearing on the driver's side extension shaft, but I'd bet more money on the inboard joint.

In other news...What have I done to my vehicle lately? I replaced what had to be the most difficult radiator I've done in a while. It's tucked in behind the intercooler, the engine oil cooler, and the AC condenser, and the bumper, grille, and all lights had to come off to get to it.

This weekend I'm putting on thermoquiet brake pads. I hate brake dust, these had the best reviews for no dust. I was close to ordering Hawks or EBC reds. I used a amazon $30 promotion, and will be sending in the mail in rebate of 30. Pads will end up costing me 18 out of pocket.

Pat, I totalled the Volvo. I did replace its radiator (and the alternator at the same time after said radiator pissed all in it), and it was a bitch.

This is a SAAB. Totally asking for it. And it was a bigger bitch than the Volvo.

You got me stumped on yours. Engine mounts perhaps?

PFFFT, SAAB’s SUCK!

Here’s something funny, I’ve test driven two last gen Saab 9-3 Vectors (higher output engine, sport suspension, aero bits, bla bla), really wanted to buy one. The alternator broke on the test drive on both. I guess people don’t drive them hard The last one cost me almost $1000 in wasted plane tickets, so I bought different car(s) instead. Currently have two somewhat modified cars added to the fleet. Cooper S and M3. Both are lovely in their own rights, but I saw another Vector in traffic the other day, still think they’re rather handsome...

My s13 throttle shaft cracked at some point but I just happened to notice it last week. Replaced the throttle body and added a catch can to my PCV system. Also helped my buddy get his s13 ready for paint (pulled off all the vinyl, took off the side skirts and overfenders, etc.)

Vector is the last generation...basically a glorified Opel/Vauxhall/Saturn platform (GM Epsilon), including the engine, which is GM's Ecotec.

Viggen is the hot OG 9-3 (1999-2002), which is still technically a GM platform, but engine and management are all SAAB.

Strawberry face conversion or bust!

Seriously though a fastback s13 with strawberry face is sexier than most brand new cars, 944s any mustang etc.

That red S13 in this thread is very attractive w/the fender flares and conquest wheels and all, but I disagree, most of them do not look good to me. I do really like how 944s look.

No, no, no, NO!

If you’re going to compare a 240SX to a 944, you can’t take a heavily modified late 90s 240SX with a body kit to a stock 944... Not to mention a 240SX did the quarter in what 18 seconds at 75mph? Jeez.

Here’s what look like two stock cars (and what I’d commented on);

No comparison.

Of course later model ones with great wheels, some decent body work, lowered, etc. can look good, but that’s hardly the same thing as it inherently being a good looking car.

Lol yeah like I said I like the s15 nosed s13 better than almost any other similarly shaped car.... 944 turbo would be just behind it....

If we went for purely stock cars the 944 turbo would be at the top of my list....

Unless the cobra Daytona is included... IMHO it's the best looking front engined 2 door EVER.

That’s not a stock 944. That’s a 944 with replica wheels with improper offset from an awkward angle.

That’s a stock 944 from a sales brochure.

Anyway, I’m aware that some 240 SXs look good modified, I don’t disagree there.

944s look better, stock vs. stock.

And S15 fronts look terrible on S13s. Pop-ups 4 lyfe. Unless it's a coupe, then Silvia front with bricks.
