it seems to me like she knew (or at least suspected) that her pets were zombie repellents. she seems to have great instincts, and her gut is telling her that the governor is a shady motherfucker.

so i don't find it strange at all that she isn't comfortable in woodbury.

I really think she just wants her sword back, it's like her safety blanket. If you've been on your own and survived fine with a particular weapon that long, when someone takes it away from you, I'm sure you'd be really reluctant to give it up.

Poll Time!
Like all villains, we can only assume the Governor is eventually going to get his. Maybe not, but I feel the odds are that he will eventually be killed off in some form of heroic justice. So, who do you guys think will kill him?
A) Michonne
B) Andrea
C) Rick
D) He does not die
E) Other:______

Regardless if you read the comics or not, the show has apparently deviated enough to make this a wild guess for anyone. That said, please no spoilers in saying what happens in the comics to the Governor.

I vote B) Andrea

This was my thinking as well. Although I don't know if it'll be a surprise. He'll probably have to do it to protect his family

Please note that I have NOT read the comics. This is just the first thing that popped into my head when the question was asked

um, i suggest you don't read this thread.

i don't read the comics, and i don't want spoilers, but none of this is spoiling anything for me.

(unlike lst year, when i told my dad i hadn't seen the most recent one, and he then proceeded to say "I can't believe they killed Dale!")

I'd go along with that, and do in general, but there were dozens of seemingly normal people in the town that seemed to be happy and feel safe without giving off any crazy vibes. What does it take for you to begin to let your guard down just a little? As opposed to just wanting to leave that place right away?

I completely understand her wanting her weapon. It would make me feel safer as well. And I'd get it even more if it were just the guys who were going on the patrols that they saw in this town. But they've met normal people. I'd also be more inclined to go along with the idea of her just having a bad vibe if there was something... anything... that she actually observed that would induce those bad vibes. If anything, they've done some things that should make her relaxed. As far as she knows they saved or at least tried to save the pilot. They gave her and Andrea shelter and food. There are a lot of people there vouching for the place.

What makes you think she has "great instincts"? Are you saying because she used the zombies as repellents she must have great instincts? We don't know how she came to that conclusion, it could have been trial and error, maybe someone told her, it could have been an accident. Rick and Glenn smeared zombie guts all over themselves in season 1 to avoid being detected by zombies. T-dog laid underneath one in the beginning of season 2 as a herd passed by him. People have simply learned that the odor of the zombies masks the scent of living flesh and that the zombies aren't attracted to the scent of other zombies. We have no reason to think she has great instincts.

well, for one, she doesn't trust the governor. maybe she's irrational, maybe she's nuts, but it doesnt matter. we now know that her instinct is spot on. it probably stemmed from the crash site. when she first saw the governor, it appeared that he was murdering the passengers. sure, he explained to her that the passengers had turned, but she still thinks something isn't quite right. i wouldn't call that irrational.

also, more importantly, she is alive. most likely going solo for a while before she met andrea. i suppose she could have been with a large group before we met her, but i doubt it.

Agree with these two quotes. I'm guessing the people drooling over her are doing so because they know her from the comics (and by saying that I'm not trying to incite a comics v. show war...)

See, I didn't really get that she doesn't trust the governor from the episode so much. What I got was that she wants to leave, for no real apparent reason. Which is my issue with all of it. Maybe I misinterpreted it. I may have missed some dialogue, but Andrea asked her about it and I don't recall her saying "I don't trust them." Which would have been pretty simple.

Quote :
"1) Why do Michonne's two zombies start freaking out when the governor & his people appear. They even theorized that without the ability to eat, they lose interest in attacking people. What's up with that?

remember, his scientist is trying to prove they have a part of their old selves that remain or at least a thinking part...now most walkers are just going off of their virus because the hunger is probably very strong but michonne's are not only (1) used to not eating (2) clearly know michonne (3) have seen what happens to other walkers - and guess who kills walkers on sight? these new dudes...I'd be an agitated zombie too and as far as michonne and andrea they had no reason to be agitated because they never felt threatened (at least after she took arms and jaws)

While your post makes sense, didn't the scientist guy at the CDC pretty much disprove this? With the whole brain scan thing that showed only the tiniest blip of brain activity.

lol at scienTIST. And no, I don't think the Guv's guy knows what the CDC guy knew. And while the Guv's scientist may be trying to prove that the walkers still maintain some sense of their past, that wouldn't explain why Michonne's chained up walkers were freaking out in the woods.

Maybe Michonne is all pissy because she feels this protection she is being offered is a slight to her ability to take care of herself. Maybe she feels Andrea no longer needs her help, again devaluing her worth.

2) I don't see why the Governor wouldn't want some trained soldiers with his group. They would be abled fighters, they could help train others, and they could even help with intel about the government's efforts other military bases potentially. It seems like the Governor's crew are all kind of thug like, and maybe soldiers would not put up with his crazy ass bullshit

3) Why are Andrea & Michonne so welcomed, but the other people they found (pilot & solders) are killed. Maybe b/c they are women, and he wants them for repopulation purposes?
"

1) I'm guessing even though they are docile for the most part they were excited by the sounds the other zombies were making. I don't believe the scientist didn't know her zombies were excited and noisy and that is why she killed them. He just gave a theory without all the facts. He only knew about zombies from whatever Merle observed and told him.

2) Well the Gov all ready made it clear that everyone has a job and no one panics during attacks. When her heard the pilot's story about how people freaked out and panicked and these guys just left their stations, comrades and friends behind maybe he didn't think they would "fit in". That at the first sign of trouble they would do the same thing over again. Also maybe the citizens of Woodbury don't know about the virus being in them. Didn't the dark haired girl say something about a girl becoming a zombie but they weren't sure how she was bitten?

3) I think they were welcomed because Merle wanted info about his brother. Also because the Gov was interested in why the pet zombies didn't attack. He spent a lot of the episode trying to get information from them about Rick's group, the pet zombies and what they know exactly.

As someone who hasn't read the comics, I don't see what all the Michonne worship is about. She has a sword and has spoken like 2 lines. So far she's essentially non-character. Knowing nothing about her background/history makes her reactions to the Governor and Woodbury without context.

I feel like people that have read the comics are imprinting some of her awesomeness from her character there to the TV show.

Guys, she's a loner, she's been surviving out in the cruel, cruel zombie apocalypse by herself. There's no telling what she's seen and endured. Merle put a gun to her head, belittled her, held her in a room, The governor is sketchy, and the mad scientist asked here weird questions about walkers and her pets, and they TOOK HER SWORD! Of course she's leary of these new people. Any rational purpose trying to survive would. I swear, some of yall wouldn't last a day in the zombie apocalypse!

Agreed about her being overhyped given what she's actually done so far. But I think it's fairly clear that she's been pretty much alone for much of this outbreak and has learned how to survive on her own. I'm assuming she doesn't have a ton of knowledge about what's going on (as opposed to Rick's group). I've never read the comics either, but I don't think those things are a stretch to assume about her. It's also not a big a stretch to assume that those things would lead her to be distrusting of this new community of people. The blonde chick had been in a group for much of the time and she knows Merle. That's why, imo, she's so much more trusting of this new group.

Basically, what ^ he said. Even without reading the comics, making those assumptions about her character is not much if a stretch at all.

They just introduced Michonne what 2 episodes ago? Give her a chance, I promise she will be a badass. You will not be disappointed if she's anything like the comic book character (which she obviously is so far)..

I agree the TV show zoomed in on her scowling face too much in that episode, I think they just told the actor to keep the badass face going so that the dumb viewers don't forget "oh yeah, she's the badass with the sword".

And it's obvious to all except the doltiest of the dolts-- the main reason she's pissed is that they have her sword.

Kidding...

The Governor has clearly offered to let Michonne and Andrea go on their way with their weapons on hand. If she wanted her sword back so badly, she can just gtfo. Maybe Michonne's angry face and Andrea's Woodbury-orgasm is suppose to play into the two sides of your conscious, trying to determine if this is too good to be true or not.

I don't feeling like searching for who said this, but someone here indicated that that Woodbury townsfolk do know know about dead people coming back and zombies. The dark haired lady walking Andrea and Michonne around mentioned that they have not have a breach in over a month, but was unsure how the zombie got in. However, multiple townsfolk, including the Governor has mentioned that most of Woodbury townsfolk are stragglers that they brought in. I think they said they only started with about a dozen people, and now it is over 70. How would these late comers not know about the dead people reanimating, and then share this knowledge with others?

What about the governor, from Andrea and Michonne's knowledge about him, is sketchy?

"Weird" questions about "her pets."... The only "weird" part of that is that the chick has "pet" zombies that she keeps on a chain, with their jaws and arms removed. It's also "odd", based on all we know about the zombies, that they don't try to attack her. Wouldn't you want to know more about that? Doesn't almost the entire audience of the show want to know more about wtf she has two zombies on chains? It's EXTREMELY reasonable for people (especially a scientist trying to learn about the zombies) to ask questions about that situation. The guy's questions were not weird given the circumstances.

i know you are joking, but it actually kinda is. it doesnt really ruin anything b/c people already made a big deal about michonne, but for all the non-comic people know, she could die in the next episode. i dont understand why the comics readers are so insistent on "predicting" what will happen in the future. its very easy to avoid doing.

Everything about his character is being portrayed as sketchy.

His group comes in with a show of force at the crash site, he de-brains a dead soldier, he and his soldiers are quiet and secretive, he takes their weapons and puts them on display in their china case, they have a nurse looking over them but won't tell them where they are or who they are, he has a mad scientist as a side-kick who interrogates them over tea and eggs, they have a community set-up in the middle of a zombie apocalypse... and it's the end of the world and death is around every corner.

I wouldn't trust anybody, especially an authoritarian who has control over an entire secluded community who obviously has a lot of secrets.

hardly the type of character who would die in the next episode

just rewatched, a few points

- almost sounds like the helicopter was shot down and didnt go down by mechanical failure?
- when Andrea is about to wake up/being transported, she hears muffled chatter, one thing being "a female"...might just be informative, might be a reason why the let em live
the Governor knows that whenever someone dies they turn, Andrea and Michonne didn't yet know
- who wants to bang Andrea more: me, the Governor or Michonne?
