I agree that they'll probably get sucked off all week. It's bullshit that this will be the case though. If a person cheats on a test and nearly passes it, you don't pat them on the back and tell them good job. At the end of the day, they still fucking cheated.9/5/2010 12:24:58 AM |

They've certainly been more successful under PJ than we've been under TOB but you could easily argue their program was in much better shape when he took over than ours was, not to mention Russell Wilson's knees would have exploded if he had to run the option.

lol so your defense is that PJ took a mediocre team and made it great, but TOB has taken a bad team and...well, nothing?
also, stop with the bullshit about blown knees. nesbitt is 2 inches taller and 15 lbs heavier than wilson. he was recruited for a pro-style offense and converted over. why would wilson be so much more fragile?
navy has had much smaller QB's. one QB/SB/FB has blown a knee in PJ's offense in the last 9 years. how many blown knees has state had running "normal" offenses? shit, how many at ping pong tables?

Quote : | "nesbitt is 2 inches taller and 15 lbs heavier than wilson." |
that's the difference between being a 1st round draft pick and going in the 7th round
Quote : | "why would wilson be so much more fragile?" |
Because he's missed a bunch of games in an offense where he runs like an eighth as much.

honestly though, you can't tell me that up 30-10 that LSU's players didn't put it in cruise control in the 4th quarter(the only time UNC's offense looked competent). When LSU really turned it on, they dominated.
Also, Jordan Jefferson is probably the worst QB that UNC will face the rest of the season. 9/5/2010 5:56:24 AM |

^^ I kept on hearing the announcers talking about how lsu had put in a bunch of backups. I really didn't understand that move. The game was no where near out of reach. Les Miles needs to be fired immediately. 9/5/2010 8:54:26 AM |

^^ This. I didn't think UNC even looked outmatched aside from kick/punt coverage. They were able to move the ball pretty much at will and once they stopped giving up 50 yard chunks on special teams they shut LSU down.
I think the core problem is that LSU isn't the typical LSU. Les Miles is gone after this year with that team.
Also two really bad calls in the last 2:30 of the game. UNC clearly hit the guy on the onsides kick before he touched it (but you can't change that on instant replay since it would be a regular penalty) and LSU clearly grabbed Pianalto (sp?) or whatever on that last play before the ball got there (his entire body was turned by the grab). Probably evened out and ended up fair.
Quote : | "If a person cheats on a test and nearly passes it, you don't pat them on the back and tell them good job. At the end of the day, they still fucking cheated." |
I think the idea is for the kids on the team who didn't cheat. I mean if we lost half our team for the same reason and the so-called "good kids" stepped up and (actually) won a game like that I'd want them to get the attention they deserved.
Praise the kids, condemn the program.

You do realize that whether the coach is Les Miles, Adolf Hitler, or Donald Duck....LSU is going to have a loaded class year in and year out don't you? Much like UNC basketball, LSU recruits itself.
Les Miles is a pretty mediocre coach. After watching his clock management skills last season, I'd argue he's a pretty bad one.9/5/2010 10:07:51 AM |

LSU looked like shit. Who gives up 400 yards to TJ Yates? They def let up on the gas in the 4th quarter, I think Miles (or someone in the coaching staff) even said they had Peterson out during one of the long TD passes because they thought the game was out of touch. I don't care, giving up 24 to Yates and the UNC offense is pathetic (not to mention almost losing the game at the end). I haven't looked at the rest of their schedule, but I wouldn't be surprised if they're staring 6-6 or 7-5 in the face 9/5/2010 10:57:23 AM |

Not an issue, the LSU player touched the ball first prior to being hit..also, that same stupid player touched the ball prior to it going 10 yards, which is not an issue because LSU touched it first..
LSU did get away with several block in the backs.....9/5/2010 11:00:53 AM |

^ When I was watching the long LSU punt/kickoff returns I kept thinking to myself they got away with some pretty blatant blocks in the back also.
TJ Yates looks much improved. His guys were wide open, sure, but he seemed to see the field better and have better decision making. Granted, LSU might have helped him do this. If TJ Yates turned himself into a serviceable QB in the offseason, Carolina could be a really good team. I'm doubting that's possible, though 9/5/2010 11:07:47 AM |

It's classic John Chavis defense. If he gets a lead, he has his DBs play soft coverage. If a QB/OC is smart enough to recognize that then they can hit short and intermediate passes all day and Chavis seems to never readjust. He has been doing this for the past 15 years. It used to frustrate the shit out of me when he was UT's DC. Chavis is a really good DC unless he has a big lead or if it's 3rd and long. Then he backs his defense off and gets burned.9/5/2010 12:55:26 PM |

just to name some of the smaller and slower opponents Navy has faced with the TO without getting every quarterback wrecked:
Ohio State, Texas Tech, Missouri, Pittsburgh, Wake, Boston College, Notre Dame, Maryland, Stanford. But they did duck Gardner-Webb and Murray State.
And correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't Nesbitt's knees still whole after two seasons of running all over the ACC?
