They do have scales. Don't know how accurate they are though. Anyone had experience with them? The most accurate way is the underwater current thing isn't it?

i was talking to my friend who's a physical therapist/trainer/former olympian/nutritionist and she said that the Bod Pod is the most accurate way of measuring...

there are universities that have them and will sometimes be running tests and let people try them for free - otherwise it's like $100 to do it.

My friend went from almost 30% to 10-11% in the last few months. My goal is about 15% right now. At 22% (according to calipers). It's a good thing to measure mainly to keep up with your muscle mass and how it fluctuates while you're trying to lose weight or bulk up. I feel overweight compared to the 4.5% my trainers at.

Meredith College has the Human Performance Lab and can do a bunch of tests.

http://www.meredith.edu/hess/lab/testing_specifics.htm

The prices aren't too bad compared to what I've seen.

I have felt like crap all week in that I've felt totally drained and exhausted. Today I've been having wicked sugar cravings. I didn't think I'd changed my diet too much, but being completely honest looking back on the week I've eaten substantially more simple carbs than normal and compensated by cutting back a little on protein and quite a bit on fat. I used to have sweet cravings every single day when I first went vegetarian and was mostly eating pasta and rice and the like. I haven't had any really since I started paying attention to nutrition. This week hasn't even been really bad except for cutting back on fat. I guess I've just gotten really used to eating well.

I <3 fat. It works magic.

its the new trendy thing to do for these upcoming apt complexes...the place wasn't any more expensive than ones with much less incentives and much older apts

we also are on the 3rd floor with vaulted ceilings....extra exercise and free extra living space. The view is also terrific as you're up so high, I keep the windows open and walk around naked. Its pretty pro.

Brier Creek feels like everyone is 3-4 years older than I...Cary is where my age group seems to have congregated.

there is a severe lack of nearby gym in the brier creek area too, everything is 10+ minutes away. If someone were looking to franchise, this area would be ideal. When are we opening our "green gym"? Have you developed a rail gun setup for a smith machine yet?

I have to work today, but maybe we can play tomorrow?

I'll even bring snacks! I just made some strawberry wheat germ muffins. YUM HEALTH FOOD. But it has 7 ingredients, so porcha may not eat them... and they're low cal so Quinn may not eat them either... OK THEN MORE FOR ME.

I pretty much only recently started supplementing my cardio by running. For years and years all I did was tennis and basketball (played four times a week for over 2+ hours when I was in Cali).

I'd be down to play basketball with people if it isn't outrageously far away.

update: so i've been trying to eat healthier but eat more calories a day and eat throughout the whole day rather than just a big dinner. i cut down on the drinking alcohol a lot (once or twice a week) and started doing a lot more salads instead of pasta or bready stuff. replaced most of my protein with soy or really lean turkey/chicken. i've been really good about eating breakfast before class and lunch after so i'm not going crazy at dinner.

but i'm pretty sure i am getting fatter. so i am obviously doing something wrong. i am probably eating too much fruit. I killed an entire watermelon in a few days along with strawberries and oranges and the like. too much sugar? I'll try to keep better track of what i'm eating so i can figure that out.

then again I will admit my workouts have consisted of painting my room (the never ending project) and waiting tables 5 times a week. so yea.

anyway it's not going so great, but now that class is back in session i guess i shall try to hit the gym before/after class and check back in with results.

^ Why are you so fucking bitter? Take that attitude somewhere else. I'm pretty sure this thread is about encouragement and not being assholes to each other.

OH but wait... pointing this out to you might cause another meltdown.

^2 Sounds to me that you're at least trying to make somewhat of a difference by eating healthier.

If you feel like you don't have time during the day to workout, what about a 20 min exercise video? bmel has one by Jillian Michaels (30 day shred) that does circuit training and it's pretty intense.. It's short, but it's something ya know?

i take cinnamon to help burn sugar, because my body doesn't use carbs properly. i'm no fitness guru, and hardly in shape, but I think it helps. maybe that will help, ddk?

Too much sugar is bad, but all the fiber in fruit helps to flush it before it's absorbed. Some moderately intense exercise will help.

thanks god! you are so helpful! no shit sherlock i just said i hadn't been working out. however I hardly feel like going to class and working 6 hour shifts 5 times a week waiting tables and trying to get a giant room painted on the other days qualifies as lazy. But thanks for being supportive and not a giant asswipe for no reason.

as for the workout videos, due to giant painting project there is really no room for me to do them at the moment so I'm just gonna go to the gym

thanks to everyone else for helpful tips/comments

i want to add that i have no gripes with God whatsoever.

him and i had it OUT (via pm) sometime over a year ago and it turned pretty ugly.
after that we started talking civilly and now we have this pretty cool friendship that is based on the fact that we only agree with each other about 25% of the time (if were lucky ahahaha) but we respect eachothers opinions.

ive actually learned a lot from him by letting him say his piece and then i say mine.

its turned out to be a pretty cool friendship, just because we're so different.

I did a fast mile on the elliptical and reached my max heart rate.

3x8x45 squat clean and press (I struggled with the last set but I think I will up it to 50 or 55 next time)
3x10x45 tricep curl and squat (I am def upping this weight to try 55 next time.)
3x8x20 one arm swing
3x8x100 dead lift (I am struggling with grip on this one. I think this might be a max at the moment because I struggle so bad with getting the 3 sets completed because of grip.)

I AM BUSH-WHACKED!

not a body shot but you can almost see my guns in this picture. HAPPY!!!!
