MLB is a great game... but I use classic hitting and a different pitching format from the default too..
I found some sliders that made the game great and pretty realistic. I just played the Braves and won 4-2. 9 hits for the Mets, 6 for the Braves. Some solid pitching and good hitting.
You really need the sliders to make the game better though. If not, it's a HR robbing marathon. 7/11/2007 11:21:27 PM |

its almost seems like you have to swing the instant the ball is about to leave the pitchers hand... I know its trying to be realistic, but I dont even have time to have any clue where it is going 7/11/2007 11:34:07 PM |
TreeTwista10 minisoldr 148450 Posts user info edit post |
again, its a great game but youre not supposed to immediately be good at it
and yeah you wanna begin your step as soon as the pitcher is releasing it but then you can decide if you want to let go (contact) or push up (power) or pull it to the right or left contact (circular to right or left) or power to the right or left (straight upleft or upright)...or not swing...and also use the left stick to control where in the zone

how do you not swing?
and how do you do all of that using the classic swing? 7/11/2007 11:38:15 PM |
TreeTwista10 minisoldr 148450 Posts user info edit post |
i dont use classic swing, i use the swing stick
if you make your step and dont want to swing, dont let go or dont push forward...just keep the stick held back until the pitch is over
also if you let go to swing and IMMEDIATELY pull back (or pull the right trigger) you will check your swing
btw try the homerun derby...in that, if you accidentally click down on the right stick, it doesnt make you drag bunt like a retard...thats one of the toughest things to get used to IMO because in regular games of 2K6, clicking the right stick inadvertently didnt fuck up your swing and make you bunt
the derby will certainly give you some good practice at hitting

Quote : | "E3 07: Silent Hill 5 spooking 360, PS3 Konami goes multiplatform for its horror-survival series' next-generation debut, set for sometime next year. By Tor Thorsen, GameSpot Posted Jul 11, 2007 8:12 pm PT
SANTA MONICA, California--Today at Konami's record-settingly brief E3 Press Event, producer William Ortell announced the company is developing Silent Hill 5 for "next-generation" platforms. The announcement marks the continuation of the long-running horror-survival series, which made its debut on the original PlayStation in 1999. Over the next several years, the franchises made its way onto the PC, Xbox, PlayStation 2, and the PlayStation Portable. It also arrived on the big screen in the form of the Silent Hill film, which was successful enough to spawn a sequel (due out next year).
Soon after the Konami event's literal 15 minutes were up, the publisher officially announced that Silent Hill 5 is in development for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Currently set for a 2008 release, the game will follow a veteran who returns to his hometown to search for his brother who has mysteriously vanished. As is often the case in Silent Hill games, his quest leads him to the titular ghost town, where eeriness is in full effect.
Konami is bringing back the sinister atmosphere and grotesque inhabitants of Silent Hill for the fifth game, but other aspects of the game are being changed. Specifically, the publisher said the game will include a new combat system, with an array of defensive and offensive techniques. The game will also sport an original soundtrack from series producer and sound director Akira Yamaoka. " |

anyone know if there is a way to slow down the pitching a bit? its basically impossible, at least to me, to tell balls from strikes since you have to swing immediately 7/12/2007 10:45:31 AM |

^^I don't know man. Sometimes I have to take pitches. I just hate when the CPU will get the benefit of a doubt, but if you pitch a close pitch on the corner or edge, it's a ball.

there is a slider on mlb to change the pitch speed.
set it low at first, then as you get better at the game you'll want to gradually increase it to keep it challenging. 7/12/2007 11:13:02 AM |

Jaybee1200 Suspended 56200 Posts user info edit post |
^^ where is it? I looked around for it and couldn't find it... and the problem is, I don't want it to make it "easier" for me to hit, like I don't want it to do something where I can swing anytime and still hit it, or anytime I hit it will find a hole etc., I don't want that... I just want it where I can actually see at least the general direction the ball is traveling before committing to swing.
and although I didnt like the game itself much, the graphics for Dirt looked amazing
and I really like Virtua Tennis... anyone got a copy they want to get rid of?
