The red in the endzones looks amazing, but I prefer the 50 yard huge NCS logo

Now how are we going to protect this thing when U2 brings their stage in October? Nothing crazy important, just curious.

i kind of like just the white outline of all the logos, bring on the red, but, the field is so beautiful doesn't matter what they do to it...

Quote :
"The Pros and Cons of USC quarterback Stephen Garcia
SOUTH CAROLINA GAMECOCKS
By Joseph Person - McClatchy Newspapers

COLUMBIA -- For all the preseason talk about South Carolina's five new assistant coaches, a new blocking scheme and Steve Spurrier's Dixie Chicks reference about being "Ready to Run," the Gamecocks offensive fortunes likely will hinge in large part on the right arm of Stephen Garcia.

Garcia will need help. The offensive line must play physical and give Garcia a pocket. The running backs have to explode through holes, get into the secondary and keep defenses honest.

And someone must emerge from a talented but young receiving corps to give Garcia a dependable downfield target.

With three days before the N.C. State opener, here are five reasons fans can be confident in Garcia and five reasons to be worried.

Five reasons to be confident in Garcia

1. He heeds G.A. Mangus' advice to stay within himself | Mangus, the first-year quarterbacks coach, didn't need to look at much video from the 2008 season to determine Garcia often got in trouble when he tried to do too much - "pressing," Mangus calls it.

Garcia has a strong arm and quick feet - and he will get a chance to show off both. But the offense will run more smoothly if he waits in the pocket and goes through his reads rather than scrambling at the first sign of trouble.

2. He gets good blocking up front | USC allowed 39 sacks last season, including five against N.C. State. Is it any wonder Garcia had happy feet? New offensive line coach Eric Wolford has brought much-needed aggression to pass-blocking - taking the fight to the defense rather than absorbing the pass rush.

The Gamecocks have the size. And it speaks to their abilities when 6-foot-7, 308-pound guard Heath Batchelor returns from a hiatus and has to fight for a starting spot.

3. Those cheating safeties | USC has a faster, more explosive group of tailbacks than it did last season. Freshman Jarvis Giles can pop a big gain at any time, while Brian Maddox and Kenny Miles hit the hole quickly, as well.

The Gamecocks had no such threat last season, meaning safeties could hang back in zone coverage and ignore the run. But if Giles or a backfield mate - Bryce Sherman? - starts breaking off long runs, the safeties creep up, and Garcia has more room to make downfield throws.

4. Garcia develops an early rhythm | Tommy Beecher and Chris Smelley are gone. Reid McCollum is not ready. The job belongs to Garcia, who should be able to play free and easy.

The Tampa native hooked up with tight end Weslye Saunders a bunch during preseason. If Garcia finds Saunders a few times in the first half at N.C. State, he could get on the sort of confidence-building roll that eluded him much of last season.

5. Garcia commits to being a complete quarterback | He watches film on his own. He studies his playbook. He doesn't get nervous before games because he's busy going over checks and coverages - what Spurrier said Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Danny Wuerffel did at Florida.

He stays out of trouble. He leads by example. He wins.

Five reasons to be worried about Garcia

1. He improvises his way into poor decisions | Garcia has a bit of that Brett Favre gunslinger mentality. He enjoys throwing on the run, and, better yet, winging the ball into tight spaces for seemingly impossible completions. But those throws too often turn into interceptions, which kill drives, which leads to losses, which results in a quarterback switch.

USC's 27 interceptions last season were the most in the nation. The Gamecocks cannot approach that number and expect to win seven games again.

2. The offensive line looks like it did in previous years | Nothing disrupts a play's timing like a bad snap, and the Gamecocks had plenty of those this month. Assuming the centers have gotten those kinks out, there is still the matter of breaking in a new right tackle in Quintin Richardson.

Mangus wants Garcia to quit looking at the rush and focus downfield. But if Richardson gets beaten on the right side, his defender will be in Garcia's line of vision.

3. Third-and-long | The Gamecocks averaged 2.9 yards a carry in 2008, forcing them into a lot of passing downs. But they have to be better this season, right? Well, no one can say for sure.

What if Giles' thin frame makes him injury prone? What if the line generates little push, and Spurrier is staring at a bunch of third-and-longs again?

Then Garcia will face a lot of blitzes.

4. He repeats his Outback Bowl performance | USC had an ominous start to the 2008 season when Beecher was intercepted by N.C. State less than three minutes into the game. The season ended four months later with Garcia committing turnovers on each of USC's first four possessions of a 31-10 loss to Iowa in the bowl game in Garcia's hometown.

5. He doesn't make the total commitment | He is ill-prepared. He makes bad decisions. And he finds himself on the bench, watching McCollum get a shot."

its always nice to have the big school logo at midefield when people are flipping through the channels during commercials for the other game. So much for school identity.

The pic with the endzone letters in red is a photoshop from a guy on packpride. That what he hopes they look like. Someone would have to go by Carter-Finley to see what they look like now, but I doubt they will pain until Wednesday or early Thursday with the rain today and possibly tomorrow.

Some people on pack pride suggested putting tuffy in the middle, which would be pretty awesome, but I think at that point, the field is getting a bit cramped, I like the current block S position.

Anybody heard anything about Owen Spencer? I don't think he's injured, I assume this is just quality USC journalism, but...

Quote :
"Wilson, who stands 5 feet 11 inches and weighs in at 208 pounds, will need to complete more than 54.5 percent of his passes as he did in 2008. A difficult task, considering last year's leading receiver Owen Spencer will be lost for most of the season due to injury. "
