Just got a call today from BJs about a management position based off my resume on Monster... which I haven't updated in over 2 years since I've been employed continuously and am happy with my current job. I'll still probably call them back and see what they have to say. Never hurts, right?

pretty simple. I got a phone call from the agency I've been under contract with to "meet them in the morning for a performance review." as well, several people came up to me yesterday asking if they could get a copy of the code I've been working on to "put it into source control." I go in to the "performance review" and see a status board on the wall with my name on it beside the row-header of "jobs ending". and the recruiter says that they didn't give any reason for letting me go. just told me not to come back

I stick almost exclusively to Craigslist. You won't get as high paying of a job, but there a lot less red tape involved in getting the position, usually. I open up all of the pages with relevant jobs to my career...writing, editing, marketing, design, etc. and apply for them all. Then, after I have done that, I open up the main listing of all jobs and check back every few hours to see all the positions that were added, ensuring I never miss one.

I applied for over 30 jobs in three days, and had four interviews during my first week of being unemployed. Going back to work February 20th.

I had an interview last month. It went well and my references were called. I saw Friday that the job was reposted. I know through HR that the department head didn't send her recommendation to them. I'm not sure how to handle that.

i hired into caterpillar in a rotational program then went out to the field to work with our dealerships to develop them & grow business (& learn a lot too)

you have to be relocatable but it's an awesome opportunity. i hired in 6 years ago through this program & it's definitely the best decision i've ever made

you have to have an account to apply on jointeamcaterpillar.com but the posting # is 94446 it closes in august & they hire in cycles

anyone with equipment experience or if you grew up on a farm (they love that) should consider! i had a degree in business & communication and went on the sales track but there is an engineering track for those of you more inclined. it's more for those engineers with the knowledge & aptitude but don't want to "be an engineer" and are more people focused.

ncsu has some recognition in the program (i'm not the only alum that has been through the program)

When I was hired in they did rolling offers so some people interviewed in August or September and were given job offers to start in Jan. I interviewed in Nov & started in Jan. I think they have it open for so long so they don't have to deal with creating a new opening every couple of months through HR

It is a program the company has been doing for about 50 years and are almost always hiring for it, just a matter of when the program starts, usually 3 groups a year starting in Jan, May & Sept so they are prob filling for the May start now.

Of course not. Any good employer knows you're there for the money. However, avoid asking about other perks like time off, holidays, etc., at least until further along in the process.

Where do you see the company going in five years? What are some challenges with the position? What's your favorite thing about working for _____________? etc etc etc. For me it really kind of depends on what has already been discussed in the interview. Just Google "What to ask in an interview" and craploads of pages with suggestions comes up.

It's just a 15-minute phone interview. I'm guessing I won't have too much time to ask a lot of questions so I'd get the best-of-the-best questions to ask from you guys. It's been ages since I've done a phone interview.

Yeah the phone interview I had for this job there really wasn't time at the end for those sorts of questions. It pretty much wrapped up with my now boss saying, "Well thanks so much for chatting with me. I'll email you tomorrow to set up an in-person interview."
