heroine is a guess. But he was found in the back of his car on a bridge. You do the math.

Here's another angle. Pettigrew was connected to the 2008 doping scandal.

http://blogs.newsobserver.com/accnow/unc-track-assistant-dies

Now we all know that most elite football players use PED's. Maybe pettigrew was UNC Football's PED connection. Just sayin.

Yeah the tie to miami track program isn't from a good source.

But what matters is that Butch was abusing the track schollies at miami and pettigrew knew about it.

Also, pettirgrew knew enough about whats going on from the current operation and was gonna flip on blake and davis. Then suddenly he's dead.........in the back seat of his car.........at a lake.

What black guy do you know, goes out to the lake to do his faviorite poison, by himself?

Yeah, none.

That's true.

And statistically speaking, black dudes don't commit suicide. Not trying to make it a racial thing, but black people in general deal with more adversity from and earlier age, and suicide is not generally the method by which they deal with it. There are tons of studies that have been done on it.

http://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/publications/suicide-in-the-us-statistics-and-prevention/index.shtml#races

Quote :
"
Are Some Ethnic Groups or Races at Higher Risk?

Of every 100,000 people in each of the following ethnic/racial groups below, the following number died by suicide in 2006.1
Highest rates:
American Indian and Alaska Natives — 15.1 per 100,000
Non-Hispanic Whites — 13.9 per 100,000
Lowest rates:
Hispanics — 4.9 per 100,000
Non-Hispanic Blacks — 5.0 per 100,000
Asian and Pacific Islanders — 5.7 per 100,000
What are some risk factors for nonfatal suicide attempts?

As noted, an estimated 12 to 25 nonfatal suicide attempts occur per every suicide death. Men and the elderly are more likely to have fatal attempts than are women and youth.1
Risk factors for nonfatal suicide attempts by adults include depression and other mental disorders, alcohol and other substance abuse and separation or divorce.5,6
Risk factors for attempted suicide by youth include depression, alcohol or other drug-use disorder, physical or sexual abuse, and disruptive behavior.6,7
Most suicide attempts are expressions of extreme distress, not harmless bids for attention. A person who appears suicidal should not be left alone and needs immediate mental-health treatment."

Dude may have been a statistical outlier, but I doubt it. And with almost 50% of attempts failing.... just makes you wonder why more people aren't Boycotting Da Schooooo.

killpups is a noted Duke fan. It's like me claiming JJ Redick raped, pissed on and verbally assaulted young co-eds while on campus (one of the three is true).

** and as a board moderator these unfounded rumors need to either have some basis or need to stop. it does nothing if untrue except make us look like complete and utter fools.

Ok then lets focus in on just one point.

Why did Blake resign today?

Despite all suspensions, his defense played relatively well. UNC almost won.

People have been speculating on his relationship with agents for a long time.

Why didn't he feel like a distraction (which is why he claims he's leaving the program) several weeks ago?

Why only after Marvin was subpena'd by the state, did blake resign?

Maybe the track coach has nothing to do with anything. Lets drop that part for a moment. I guess there's not enough evidence there as of yet.

But thursday Marvin Austin is subpena'd. Saturday, UNC's defense does ok against a horrible LSU offense and almost wins. His young D plays ok. But sunday, all of the sudden, Blake feels like a distraction. If anything, blake is MUCH MUCH MUCH less ofa distraction as of Sunday. The season has started and off the field stuff will fade some.

Blake knows that Marvin Austin could lie to the NCAA and only lose his college eligibility which can just be compensated with more money from blake's system. But, Blake knows that Austin has to tell state officials the truth because state officials can send Austin to jail for lying.

So blake scrams after the game.

[Edited on September 5, 2010 at 11:06 PM. Reason : It will all come out after the SBI gets done with Marvin Austin. ]

My fault then. I know I've been in UConn-Duke spats with you in the past. Or at least thought I had been.

But seriously, those are some pretty serious and unsubstantiated rumors you're claiming. And while I want UNC to burn for their transgressions (and they really should and I think they will) it's not cool to post random rumors like that.

(Anyway, not going to push it -- do what you will).

1) Marcell Dareus gets suspended for 2 games...NCAA said he cooperated so he got a lighter sentence
2) Marvin Austin is subpeona'd the next day.
3) John Blake resigns the next day.

John Blake resigned becuase he knows that Marvin is going to spill the beans. Perjury is a felony, and he needs to focus on a legal defense becuase he knows what Marvin will say in his testimony.

Now the $1mil question is....what will be said in Marvin's testimony?

NyM410 playing the moderator card? weak sauce, bro.

Let's not get all Lee Fowler / George W. Bush up in Sports talk and start to quash theories because it "makes us look bad." I'm a rabid NC State fan and don't give a fuck about what people at IC, ParkPride, or anywhere else thinks of me.

There's nothing wrong with theories and we're all allowed to speculate as much as we want, unless the rules have changed.

Further, nothing that he's postulating is THAT out of this world. The track coach thing may be a bit over the top, but the Black Santa system is wholly plausible.

That's why I said "do what you will" so I don't really see what I'm squashing. Rumors like that really serve no purpose. I mean that is a pretty serious thing, no?

And the track coach thing is the ONLY thing I was referring to (I suppose I should have clarified that).

there has to be a reason he's called black santa. whether that means he gives extra jellybeans to the team at Christmas, or whether he's a crack-peddling, agent-schmoozing, ex-miami murderer is all speculation...

I imagine part of the timing was to keep a national ESPN audience from hearing about staff volatility for 3 hours. Chances are this decision was in the works already. Lot of possible recruits watching. A bunch of cheating athletes is bad enough. Having coaches leave is a definite sign of other things happening

I dont mind hearing rumors and reading into them in this thread, but I dont want to sift through multiple pages of conspiracy theory posts that are completely false (not saying any of this is) when there are enough new reports coming out everyday to focus on. So, I agree with the moderator giving a warning about creating and spreading false rumors - if they are indeed false. I dont care about the whole "making tww look bad" thing, I just would rather read this thread for real news and info instead of made-up conspiracy theories

that my 2cents

Obviously it wasn't a snap decision. And he certainly isn't stepping down for personal reasons. UNC Football is in a lot of trouble. And it's probably one of the more public "trials" we've seen in some time. Even USC's was a lot more hush-hush than this.

June 21st 1996 Several UM football players broke into the Track Team captains apartment and beat him. Some people speculate that this is who blew the whistle on the football team and prompted the NCAA to hold UM out of postseason play in December 1995. There's a reason that the track captain spilled the beans about the football team. Davis was abusing the scholarship benefits of the track team.

These are facts. well....other than the speculation part. lol

John Blake bio

wow, John Blake is the guy who recruited Ndamkung Suh to Nebraska. Didn't know that.

Blake was on staff with Davis at the Dallas Cowboys as a Dline coach, but apparently was never on staff at miami. However, there is a pretty big bio gap from 1995 to 1999. Just sayin.

So my next question. Are the girls that Blake was rolling at recruits different than Davis's stock? nannies and tutors? lol

I mean it sounds like Blake had a list of chicks to throw at recruits. Then Davis had a list of girls to work on em when they were enrolled and playing and "taking classes." lol

Oooh I found it.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1008584/index.htm

The main player that was arrested for beating the track captain was a wide receiver. Hmmmm which players are most likely to make the transition from Track to football? oh yeah, the wideouts. Just sayin

And look at all the other stuff Davis put UM through. wow

Jammi German was the wideout. Im trying to see if he was ever on a track scholly.

i posted about MA commiting to UNC because of the hoes like two years ago on PP or IC (don't remember which) and got flamed for it. a friend of mine point blank asked MA why he decided to go to carolina (this was while they were both on recruiting visits at UNC) and his answer was something to effect of "i'm going to get my stats and make it to the NFL no matter where i go to school. i decided to go to unc for the hoes. you got central, shaw, st. augs, and a & t all within 30 minutes"
