Well if Jek won't post big pics on this page, I will.

I finally got around to swapping out my stock mani for a Tial-flanged mani.

Although I'm not a fan of open dump tubes, there really isn't much room to route it anywhere else given its proximity to the catch can and the BMC.

So up it goes. Fuck 'em.

The one in the background is a gt2560rs (dual ball bearing S15 turbo), and the one on the manifold is a gt2871r (also dual ball bearing). My little 2.0L needs all the help it can get with spooling up quickly, thus the baby snails

so why do both turbos still have internal gates if you're going to a tial external?

The smaller 2560 is going another car without an external gate, so its internal gate is staying.

I don't want to weld the gate shut on the 2871 in case I ever want to sell it. It has an adjustable wastegate actuator, so I just preloaded the crap out of it to hold it tightly shut and didn't hook a vac/boost signal line to the diaphragm.

So far, so good. The Tial gate snaps open when it should, and with no where near the boost creep like I had before.

You can just bend a threaded rod and put a few nuts on it so you don't have to worry about damaging the diaphragm. (Put a nut on each side of the actuator mount and a jam nut for each).

^^ Damn dude, that sucks I guess you got the motor shut off quickly enough?

I got a great deal on a full D16Z6 '95 Civic Si drivetrain (motor, transmission, ECU, wiring harness, exhaust, distributor, axles, radiator, etc) so I swapped it into my '92 Civic VX rallycross car. It's not the world's biggest upgrade, SOHC 1.5L VTEC-E to SOHC 1.6L VTEC, but 92hp with really tall gearing to a short-geared 125hp engine feels like a pretty crazy upgrade. In the process of swapping the drivetrains, I deleted the AC entirely, and the car never had power steering, so it's actually slightly peppier than a normal EG Civic Si as well as being slightly lighter. I also replaced the lower ball joints and front wheel bearings while I was at it.

There's a few pics in my gallery if anyone is interested, too lazy to shrink them down and don't want to post huge pics in the thread

I was on my way to the local Infiniti dealership to have some tires mounted after hours. I hit the rock about a half mile or so away and made it to the dealership before realizing that it had indeed cracked the pan.

Fortunately, the leak was slow. Took a solid 10 mins to empty out, so I don't think I could've lost oil pressure during that stretch of driving.

Oh well. I'm borrowing my buddy's trailer today and picking it up after work. On the plus side, I still got my tires mounted

If you're talking about the dents allllll down the side... Those are courtesy of a couple overzealous tandem drivers at the last drift event. It kinda sucks, but it was bound to happen sooner or later I guess.

installed an aux audio input in my truck that uses one of the XM bands

just fyi, if you ever remove a radio, remember to eject all the CDs first. i almost fucked up the 6-disc in-dash changer. after i plugged everything back up, it didn't recognize that there were CDs in it. wouldn't do anything with the CDs. the tech support guy at the number that came with the adapter kit suggested flipping the unit around, tapping on it, etc. that worked and i was able to eject them all. i reset the power to it again, plugged it all up, slid it in the dash, powered it up, and all the discs loaded and played. whew.

Glad that worked out okay.

A few minor things for the Integra over the wknd: Replaced a leaking rear brake caliper, which is a simple task however I noticed the slide pins were frozen in place Took about 90 minutes to resolve that pain in my ass. Then I ripped off a loose piece of heat shield from the catalytic convertor. It's original and the metal started snapping off at the bolt attachment points.

Did an "exploratory" oil change prep for the Cayman and had difficulty finding a tool to remove the oil filter. Forums say to use a 76mm oil filter wrench. The one I got from O'Reilly just slipped. Returned it and got one from Autozone. That too, just slipped over the filter housing. Said fuck it and ordered the genuine Porsche oil filter wrench tool from the dealership...and was informed yesterday the part might possibly be backordered till mid July

Bought 2001 4runner. I saved it from death by its hipster owner. It had been sitting for a year because "I ride my bike everywhere in the city." Anyway it immediately needed new front pads and rotors. After I handled the title I replaced them in an autozone parking lot redneck style because it was too late to find a shop to do it. Also added a quart of transmission fluid and new battery. I guess I just missed my old 4runner and this one also has the rare e-locker.

Oil filter housing is reusable. Only the filter element gets replaced. So that's a no can do...unless I feel like paying another $20-30 for a new one of those too.

^ The Lexus was the same fucking way. There's a posted size filter wrench that's supposed to work, but I swear the actual size was half a mm off. I ended up using a vice grip to get it off, which marred up the housing where the filter wrench would go. No big deal since I couldn't use one on it anyways. I was able to reinstall handtight. Never leaked and I was always able to take it off by hand without a filter wrench for future oil changes...

Car's in the shop right now as we speak. Just got a $1000 quote to fix the following:

- broken CV joint on the left side axle
- badly leaking oil pan so they have to reseal it
- some kind of sensor (anyone know what it is called?) that detects the amount of oxygen in the exhaust? IDK.
- 2 A/C fan radiator motors are broken

FML! Anyone know if Dorman products are acceptable?? What's good recommendations of products for all these issues? I want to get a good part but not pay too much.

Rattle canned the roof rack on the 4runner. Replaced a bunch of burnt out bulbs. New front rotors and pads. New battery.

Paid a guy to detail the Land Cruiser after a beach trip and put $100 of gas in it.

Bled the Integra's brakes (wahoo! haha)

Changed the Cayman's oil. Porsche's oil filter wrench worked like a champ! Saved some oil to send off to Blackstone Laboratories for analysis.

One item to grumble about: the oil filter hangs off the bottom of the engine, straight down at a 90° angle with the ground. When you remove the filter a LOT of oil dumps out all over your hand. I honestly have no clue how to remove this filter (in the future) without the same thing happening again, haha. wtf

Next items on the list are front pads and rotors on Porsche, prob next month. And then spark plugs shortly thereafter.

Integra needs new front rotors - prob do that in August since I hardly drive it in the summer.

Dorman is good.

Red Dodge:
- scraped the leftover film from tinted windshield 'banner' or whatever one calls it. it was peeling off last week, so I pulled.... only a portion of the film came. (installed by PO)

- another PO find - was piddling with the subs and box because its bracket screws came out, and noticed the controls on the MTX thunder-152 amp were all out of whack. I should have known something was amiss when buying the truck, as he mentioned that the subs were basically controlled with the factory fade knob on radio... basically no rear speakers without subs going crazy. Spent a few mins to get the gain/freq/EQ dials tweaked to where I can actually set fade to middle and let the bass control actually work. I literally didn't notice this until having the truck for 10mths
