I put the tonneau back on, and the Bedrug came yesterday. Now the groceries won't slide all over the place.

My car is a 2002 Honda Accord EX V6 coupe. And yeah, I knew that....just couldn't think that day. LOL

So got my oil pan cleaned and re-sealed, new CV joint replaced, 2 radiator motor fans replaced, and O2 sensor fixed/replaced, and then found out that oil was ALL around my engine and transmission so the shop had to take my transmission out (which they had just installed March 2013) and clean the area and replace some part to stop the leak.

All in all....paying about $2000 total for it all. I hopefully will have my car back next week so I can then go buy new tires and get my alignment done. *sigh*

^^Do bed covers really make a difference in mpg? I never got one for any of my trucks because I thought they'd always be in the way.

^You got hosed.

Degreased the engine bays on the Land Cruiser and 4runner. Sanded and rattle canned the center caps on the 4runner. New wipers all around. Carpet samples came in the mail today for a replacement carpet for the 4runner. $257 to replace which isn't bad. I bought the whole car for $2,100 as a beater.

Yeah, my mom ended up finding cheaper parts at another place so we got our own. So maybe around $1500. IDK.........

They do good work supposedly, but I think the labor is where they got us.

That was by no means a screaming deal, but for all the work they did that number doesn't sound that bad*

*unless the transmission work was gratis since they had installed it less than a year ago. If that's the case, definitely hosed.

I got a letter in the mail today from the DMV license and theft bureau saying:

"We have received information from the below listed person(s) that the above vehicle was stored"

I sold the car 4 years ago. What the shit?

I bet the dude I sold it to is pissed that his shit got towed and he can't get it back.

Same thing happened to me this past year after I sold my civic. I don't know how and why, because the title was notarized with the buyer and me.... unless dude put a random plate on it and rode dirty.

not shit. I sold it to a coworker's son, so I knew it was totaled even before I got the notice. As I mentioned, title was notarized and the notary documented appropriately - 0 fucks given.

The only real fuck I give is that selling that thing was a damn dumbass idea.

Used Lexol leather cleaner and restorer on the driver's seat of the Volvo, which has a lot of checking and some cracking on the lower portion. First application did nothing. I'm going to give it another shot, and if that continues to do nothing, time for leatherique and regretting the $18 I spent for the two Lexols.

(Driver's seat is the worst--the leather on the passenger seat and back seats is nearly flawless, but hard. Hoping for some softening action.)

Water pump shaft bearing blew up on track in my M3 last weekend, it actually happened just past the kink at CMP for those who know that track. When it went, it let the accessory belt have enough slack to pop off so in addition to losing cooling I lost power steering and alternator. It also took the AC belt off on the way out, so I lost AC, not that I noticed at the time heh. The exploded bearing also let a significant portion of my coolant (luckily just water at the moment) spray out all over my front under body panel and everything else around there including the front wheels. There is also a mechanical fan on the E36 that helps cool the engine which rides on the water pump shaft...so it started slamming into anything and everything around the area when the water pump went. Luckily it was so old and brittle that it lost the battle with the radiator.

I limped it (quickly) backly to my paddock spot since the temp gauge looked okay at first (I hit the AC button to force the electric fans on). With help from two of my friends that were at the track day, we got the water pump replaced with one from Advance and the accessory belt back on. I hot-wired the electric fan to run on high whenever the ignition was on since the mechanical fan was toast. I left the AC belt off since I didn't really need it anyways.

The car survived the rest of the track weekend and the drive home to TN like that, showing no signs of overheating issues. And on the bright side, by removing the mechanical fan and AC belt, I reduced the mechanical drag on the engine and it felt a bit peppier the rest of the weekend

I have a better water pump on the way from Bimmerworld, and a lower temp thermostat and electric fan switch so I can permanently leave the mechanical fan off and not have the electric fan running non-stop. I also ordered a new throttle body to intake elbow so I can delete the stability control throttle body, which has been annoying me for a while now (stability control has been disabled electronically, but the ASC throttle body still restricts air flow and gets in the way when working on the car). New pads/rotors and tires go on this week too.

^, ^^sweet!

After fighting intermittent gas fumes in the 240, even after replacing the gas cap, I pulled the fuel pump the other day to check on the o-ring sealing the pump cover to the body.

It was stretched about +20%. I snipped out a section, heated the ends over the stove and (surprisingly) was able to stick them back together. While poking around, I suspect the fuel pump filter "bag" thing had long fallen off so I fixed it up. One gas tank later, I've increased my mpg by about 10%! (avg 21-22 mpg up to 24 mpg, 50/50 city/rural)

^ Its funny what repairs can increase your gas mileage...we replaced the leaky gas tank in my buddy's '89 Civic hatch and his mileage went WAY up...go figure

Its really cool that you were able to fix that o-ring like that, but is it worth it over just getting a new one? Are they hard to find for 240's or something?

At least you can get a friggin water pump at a local parts store for your race car, be grateful!

Me, hmm. Clocked wastegates, why yes, two of them, yeap, on the same car... L :O L Fixed rear upper deck spoiler in the upper position and disabled the hydraulics. Hmm, maybe a RWD conversion soon, man I don’t even know anymore... The thing’s pretty stupid to drive especially in the rain. I always feel like I’m about to wreck it, stupid diff...

Little ko4 turbos on 1.8t vws I can barely fit my thumb in.

Well... I take that back beer can is 59.44 mm on avg meaning a 60mm inducer turbo minimum.

You can make 600-650hp on a 60mm inducer turbo....

Clocked the turbos, only netted about 1.5psi but slightly faster spool. Considering GT2 intercoolers and another tune. I wasn’t really after much more power but seems easy enough to get the next 100hp, so why not!

Oh, disabled the spoiler hydraulics as originally planned. Racing seats, sliders/adapters etc. are in (factory Porsche manual seat sliders accept Recaro racing seat uprights, how cool is that!1), along with the half cage. New center caps, new tires ordered (that’s probably going to happen a bit too often). Installed the roof rack. Um, I guess oil change and stuff aren’t worth mentioning. Here’s a current pic from today;

Well fine, they also accept Sparco racing seat uprights, which is what I ended up installing. I guarantee you that your Mercedes wagon does not accept uprights from any racing seat without an adapter...

Projectors... do you have any before pictures, or better yet, “during”? Did it take any custom fabrication?

Wash & waxed the Insight. Got a waterproof cargo tray and dropped it in (like Weathertech, except it's a Honda accessory).

Took the 7 to have some sheet metal work/welding done on the hood scoop (I wasn't about to try to weld aluminum sheet metal myself. That's beyond the scope of my ability). I then took it to the body shop and had it painted, so it'll be waiting for me when I get back to FL later this week.

I also welded a big crack in my brother's sailboat trailer, and helped him get the little 4 hp outboard running.

in case anyone was wondering, if you change your fuel/water separator filter on your boat and need to prime the fuel line back up, you can stick the fuel line up in a shop vac hose, seal it up with duct tape, and prime the line in a few seconds. this is way faster than using the priming bulb and tastes better than sucking on the fuel line.

"custom" fab was easy. There's 3 mounts for the new headlight, but only 1 is the same between a-spec and j-spec lights. Used some 1/4" flat steel about 4" long for one of the side mounts on the new one piece assembly. Drilled two holes in the steel so bolts could pass through and followed up with a few nuts and washers to offset/adjust the headlamp into firm position. Had to cut out a non-structural part of the radiator support. Just a bit of sheet metal that the old headlamp bolted to, but the new projector housing takes up more space. Moved a couple relays... Not completely bolt on, but not bad either.

Quinn had the great idea of using the old bulb socket for a wiring harness/adapter to the new lights.

Before was a reflector with a dual filament bulb, now I have a nice dedicated low projector and high reflector. Cutoff favors Right hand driving in Japan, but I've adjusted it not to be annoying with oncoming traffic. It's bright and clear, Much better than the aging reflectors.

Before on passenger side, after on driver side. Old headlight and corner signal lamp were not bolted in at that time, hence the bad gap.

Rustoleum spray. Sprayed the bottom of a coors beer can until it puddled up and used a paint brush to cover the exposed metal.

I can see twice as far as before with about 50% more illumination and no "hot spots." I'm very pleased.

My cruise control button that activates it (not the button that sets the speed) has been broken for the past few months... when i push it in it briefly engages the cruise control but when i stop pressing it the button won't stay toggled.

well my friends, i fixed the SHIT out of it... with a piece of soda straw and macgyver-esque ingenuity... the cruise control is now permanently engaged!

? I don't know where you are referring but it's definitely not been in an accident and the front end is the way it's supposed to be... Maybe it's the chrome and black piece above the front bumper that's playing tricks on you.

That being said, I don't like the front end of this model. I prefer 2009 and up.

why harass people with modified trucks? there's so much more utility to a truck in that state than a Porsche with a roof rack.

Flip the script and what can a truck not do that a Porsche does?
- curvy roads & track days
- give off that euro car vibe
