NFC South (5-1) Games remaining: None NFC West (2-2) Games remaining: None NFC 2nd place 2012 (2-0) Games remaining: None AFC East (3-1) Games remaining: None
Scenarios: NFC South & 1st Round Bye CLINCHED. SEA Loss + SF Win = #1 Seed & Home Field.
looking at the 3 and 4 seeds, it might not be so bad being #2, since you can figure the wild card teams are better than the North & East winners and can count on at least one upset; that could leave us with Philly/Dallas/GB/Chi and Seattle with NO/SF/Ari. of course, if both WC win, then we lose the advantage. either way, I won't complain, we did exactly what we had to do.
SEASON = EVEN MORE SUCCESSFUL 12/29/2013 4:25:06 PM |

Too much Deangelo hate. He's got a ton of guaranteed money whether he plays or not. He's banged up. He's about to turn 31 and has a ton of mileage on him. He lacks explosiveness for sure. I don't think it's effort the guy just doesn't have elite athleticism anymore. His numbers are solid this year especially given our run blocking weakness. None of our other backs have looked better that's for sure. 12/29/2013 5:42:53 PM |

he's just a guy. not like he's a diva or an ass off of the field.

He's managed to stay healthy most of the season and has made some big, game changing plays. Let's face it, the way Tolbert runs he wouldn't last 3 games as a feature back and Stewart is never healthy. Yeah, he's overpaid but that's not his fault. Football is a shitty way to make a living, I don't blame him for playing not to get killed out there. LT played the same way late in his career. 12/29/2013 6:05:18 PM |

the DeAngelo fumble at least didn't have anything due to age ... gotta protect the ball, I think some criticism is warranted since he did the same thing in week 1 in the redzone 12/29/2013 6:11:31 PM |

too much hate to quote. Panthers are pretenders blah blah blah
Really the point of this post is this summary:

Really, I'd just like everyone to commit to raising their intelligence levels a little bit. We don't have to take the "wait and see" approach to every sport every season. It's okay to include some educated analysis along with the banter, predictions, and humorous gifs.
We can't just look at counting statistics, wins/losses, and other misleading information to use as the basis of every argument. If the Panthers were a great team by week 5 or 6 it's okay to recognize that. We don't have to wait for them to win 11 of their next 12 games just to confirm what we as intelligent lifeforms should already be able to conclude.12/29/2013 6:29:02 PM |

i know it sounds dumb but id almost rather play @Seattle in the playoffs than @NO. I just hate the way we match up with New Orleans. Statistically, i know we'd rather have NO at home, but something about that match-up just skeeves me. I wouldn't mind dodging Philly either. SF at home is a solid match up for us. 12/29/2013 6:49:08 PM |

At the time I still think it was a valid comment. We had just lost by 16 points to a 2-2 Arizona team that lost to the Rams and Saints and had barely beaten the Lions and TB both by <5 points. We were 1-3 with our only win being against the really, really bad Giants.12/29/2013 9:03:03 PM |

Out of the 3 possible teams we could play first game, give me Philly all day. I'm still not sold on Foles vs a great defense, plus the Panthers should be able to hold McCoy in check with their front 7.
I really wouldn't mind playing San Fran either. Their defense is just as good as ours, but Kap played scared against us last time -- and that was at their house.
The team I really don't want to see is the Packers. Rodgers is probably the scariest QB in the league considering his delivery, accuracy, mobility, and grittiness. I could see him carving our soft-zone defense to pieces if we don't get lots of pressure.

There will be some general tickets sold at 10am this morning. They'll be sold out by 10:05 I would guess too.
EDIT: I'd rather play the Packers than the 49ers all day. That offensive line for GB is their achilles heel and their defense is really weak. I think we could make them one dimensional by shutting down Lacy and then get after them on passing downs.
It would be really hard to beat the 49ers twice in a year. They seem to be rolling right now too. I'd just rather avoid that rematch if possible.

Yeah, I don't want to have anything to do with the 49ers. That defense guarantees it'll be at least a close game and they have more playmakers on offense than we do. We barely beat them with their two best receivers out of the game. No thanks. With the Packers, I'm fairly certain our front 7 can overwhelm their offensive line and their defense can't stop the run or pass. 12/30/2013 9:42:13 AM |

SF over Carolina in the NFC Title Game.
How it plays out.
Philly over NO would be HUGE for the Panthers (pairing purposes). I think it happens in OT. SF will deficate on GB. Packers aren't ready. We beat Philly fairly comfortably. +9pts Niners win in Seattle by an eye opening margin.+10 We lose a bruising FG fest at home to SF. 16-13.
SF seemed like they were destined to win the SB last year. They make it back in 2014. 12/30/2013 9:48:41 AM |

The only difference is that Kapernick (sp?) has regressed this year. He's not nearly as dynamic as he was last year, plus Crabtree isn't dominating like he was. That could all change in the playoffs, but I doubt it.12/30/2013 10:34:00 AM |
