should be coming out soon.. the rumors on the internets say that with the time difference, it should be coming out sometime today.

The japanese update is also expected to work with the US PSP, but I'll be letting other people try that one out first.

I can use usb to move things with my phone, but it requires motorola software, whereas I can just send shit back and forth with my bluetooth connection, and like I said before, it would be nice to be able to do the same with my PSP.

It turns out all the problems I've been having are due to a shitty USB cable or something. There were I/O errors copying to the PSP that, according to lots of forums and whatnot, happen with ghetto cables. Urg.

Interesting. Are you using SNES9x? I guess I can see if I'm using an older version or something.

And, really, it's running at a very smooth framerate, but the game runs in super slow motion.

yeah, upgrade to the newest version and try messing with the sound settings. Lower the sound quality and it should help out the fps a lot.

I suppose it's worth mentioning that the price of the DS will drop to $129.99 next week.

It's also worth mentioning that since the last post an ISO loader has been released for the PSP and you can now play every game released for free off the memory stick(with 2-3 exceptions). If you're into that sort of thing.

DS is starting to rev it's engines...(it is worth noting and to add flame to this topic again).

1.) Meteos, Nanostray, Kirby have come out in the past couple of weeks and rock complete asshole. Meteos alone is worth the price of console.

2.) Advancewars & Nintendogs DS are next Tuesday with reviews through the roof.

3.) Lunar: Dragon Song, Castlevania, Trauma Center, Metroid: Hunters, and Lost in Blue all in a month or so.

4.) Age of Empires, Sonic DS, Mario and Luigi 2, Black and White : Creatures, A Boy and his Blob, Marvel Nemesis, Ultimate Card Games DS, Animal Crossing, Pheonix Wright, Guilty Gear, Mario Kart, Bubble Bubble, Lunar Blue, Elektroplankton, TMNT all in 2-3 months.

Plus new Mario Bros in dev, and Zelda on the horizon.

Extra plus - rumblings of Starcraft and Diablo2 ports to the DS!

By 2006 the PSP will get OWNED in the fun department. Say what you will but the facts are there.

No, those aren't facts, it's still your OPINION. Fun isn't something that can be measured scientifically.

Advance Wars DS is the only reason I kept my DS. I cannot freaking wait for that game. But every other game that's on my top 5 "must have" list is coming out for the PSP.

OWNED IN THE FUN DEPARTMENT?

YEA OK

MAYBE IF IM FIVE OR STILL LIVING ON MY MOM'S BASEMENT

THEY'VE LOADED LINUX AND WIN95 ON THE PSP

THE POTENTIAL GEEKGADGETRY OF THIS DEVICE IS LIMITELESS

FUCK YOU AND YOUR CUTE GAMES

GIMME A PSP TO TOOL AROUND WITH PLZ.

Nice try to flame. None of your crap applies to me. Its not about cute games you tard; It's about REPLAYABILITY. Games you can play 5 min then put down - and retain fun factor...PSP has jack shit in that department except for lumines...which pales next to meteos anyhow.

I love how the argument swings from defensive sony/xbox peole to 'i want mature games' - it aint about maturity -- sorry i could give a fuck if im seeing tits, hot coffee mods, or blood in a good game or not - i just want the game to be fun...

it just so happens that games that are all 'mature' are the ones that do so at the expense of having a one-and-im-done make to them. You play them once, you're done -- they are usuallyr inundated with clunkiness, terrible frame rates, or they suffer the 'sequel' disease.

I cant help nintendo likes to make original games that get repeated use, are fun, and are stylistic and fast.

so suck my balls.

WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT

I AIN'T CARE BOUT NO SHITTY GAMES

I'M TALKING ABOUT THE USE OF A THE HANDHELD ITSELF

WHICH BY THE WAY, IS MUCH MORE UTILITARIAN THEN A DS.

IF YOU GET YOUR DICK HARD CROUCHED IN THE CORNER PLAYING VIDEO GAMES ON A SCREEN THAT SHARES SIZE WITH A CALCULATOR DISPLAY THATS FINE.

I ONLY GET EXCITED ABOUT USING THE PSP AS A functional AND SLEEK PORTABLE COMPUTER.

WAIT...

YOU'RE NOT SOME 18 YEAR OLD FRESHMEN?

That is the thing. Nintendo is known for their innovation in terms of games and consoles: they were the first to use a D-Pad, the first to use a rumble mechanism, the first to put an analog stick on a controller, the first to use L/R buttons (I am really curious to see what they have done with the controller of the Revolution). Sure the PSP has more applications like running Windows or Linux, but what if you just want to do what it is supposed to do, play video games.

vibration (e.g. rumble paks, dual shock controllers) != force feedback

no home console has had force feedback implemented yet

although some third-party steering wheels implement it

and force feedback has yet to really catch on in pc games or peripherals

it's expensive as shit too

microsoft had a first-generation force feedback joystick a few years ago

shit was like $400

i'm not paying $400 so my fucking joystick can push back against the way i'm steering

no thank you

easy way to break something

you're talking about realistic force feedback. many years ago there were joysticks for the computer that labled themselves as force-feedback, long before the n64 and similar systems. they just rumbled and vibrated and shit depending on the support offered by the game (much like controllers for the n64).

Well for the record, I think the PSP is a cooler device than the DS too. I mean shit, if we are talking about only in your ruthless persuit of 'utility' and 'versatility' of a device.

Now, if we are going to persue debating these systems based on that, why not shell out another 300 bucks and get a nice LAPTOP. Why not start a thread like "LAPTOP vs PSP vs DS". Lets see what wins using this logic! I fucking guarantee you that a @#$@#$ laptop does a much better job than a PSP could even fart out. So sit down.

PSP users go back to the utility argument constantly for a reason - the games for it suck a fat nut.

Normally I don't like to feed the trolls, but in this case I'll simply answer the question and leave it at that.

My top 5 handheld wants at the moment are:

1)GTA: LCS
2)Advance Wars DS
3)Burnout Legends
4)GT4 Mobile
5)Pursuit Force
