Regarding "the black dude" and his switching of sides after his biopsy:
I don't think they ever mentioned anything about it on the show. He was just fine after an episode or two. However, I do know that after any type of brain surgery (even a simple biopsy), tissue/cells may either be damaged temporarily or permanently. Usually the brain is fairly resilient and will regenerate damaged tissue. So after some time and therapy, something like left/right reversals can be corrected automatically. For him, I guess it only took one episode.
