jsut start with the miniseries movie thing, then the first season. you will then be hooked like crackbeat and your raw animal instincts will do the rest. Don't watch the ancient version.

He wasn't really a main character though. He kind of disappeared for a while, they brought him back the previous show, then they kill him this one.

Made me sad that they showed how much promise he had at the begining of the episode then he ends up dying.

I am very curious when they will do an episode on the main plot arc and why the prisoner wouldnt tell the old man what other cylons there were

Wow I watched the miniseries and First 3 episodes of Season 1. Holy shit, my NetFlix queue is now only BSG discs at the front.

What other shows from SciFi do ya'll recommend in a similar vein as this when I'm done watching all of BSG? I am going to probably do Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis, which will probably tie up another month, and then I'm thinking maybe trying Babylon 5 (I watched a little when it was on, but not much). What other shows do ya'll suggest? Farscape? Dark Angel? I never saw either of them. I'm a big scifi fan and love Star Wars, Trek, BSG now, etc.

b5 is well worth watching IF done correctly ie. in order and keeping in mind that past the first season it gets unbelievably better.

Farscape is just hands down awesome

Firefly: same - altho short

SG-1/Atlantis: SG-1 started out pretty good now it's mediocre but still watchable. Kinda happens after 10 seasons though.

Sure it did, I got the box set the very day it came out this past year. It starts out kinda hokey, but the later episodes are absolutely fantastic. The CGI is extremely dated, though! You'll be hard pressed to find any finer episodes of any sci-fi show than "The Angriest Angel" in this series.

it's just damaged. it's the magic of scifi. the ship'll get the crap blasted out of it and magically be fixed the next episode.

plus I mean they do have mining ships and refinery ships to make parts and help with repairs right?

So about the pegasus's crew.

Anyone think the crew will try to revolt agaisnt Adama in some way considering as soon as they joined up with the fleet that Cain was killed, then Her ex-o was killed, and now the former Pegasus Commander? And now Adama's son is in command of the ship.

Possible?

^^ you obviously don't catch on quickly. It's clear that there are no sacred cows for the writers. Also, how can anyone with a brain not see that a pegasus revolt would be way more interesting than if they just submitted themselves peacefully???

This show is all about "things are going to get bad before they get worse"

The rest of the pegasus command is pretty docile, and Lee pretty much proved himself in that episode. That was exactly the thing he needed to do to get command; Adama couldn't just put his son there... but the Engineer guy pretty much handed over command in front of the bridge once he had fucked up. There really isn't anyone better to take the post.

at least, unlike with LOST, shit actually adds up.

Quote :
"this one thinks shes more human than cyclon, just like someone else i know"

baltar is a cyclon. he was talking about another version of himself.

proof:

-someone else was downloaded into his brain
-his house was destroyed and six was killed on caprica, he could have only survived if he was downloaded into another body.
-the quote above, he basically called his other self out.

THEORY:

Baltar isnt just a Cylon.
Baltar is the Cylon God

Quote :
"
This was a discussion started on the thread called Who is a Cylon. I felt this theory should have a thread of its own. It should be fun to see everyone's ideas on this one.
In short: some have theorized that Baltar is actually a Cylon. I think this is true and that he might be The Cylon. Theory follows:
Baltar as a human at some point helped the Cylons develop the human models using his vast expertise in genetics and electronics. The bio-cylons believe that he is God. Being an egomaniac, he cannot resist the temptation. He creates a single, genetically identical copy of himself, exactly like him except for his knowledge of the Cylons, to resume his life on Caprica. This cylon model has a mission and a "holy spirit" to guide him, the corporeal and imaginary versions or Six are sent to guide him and be his conscience. Baltar, the Cylon God, promises that his "son" will bring salvation to the Cylons by exacting revenge on their former masters and bring the Cylons "home".
Some facts that support this idea:

Baltar has been told by Six on numerous occastions that he is the Chosen One, the one destined to survive and usher in the new race of God's children.
Baltar has endured several trials by fire in the episodes 33, Six degrees of Separation, and during the Kobol story arc. In all these he had to give himself over to the will of God.
He has performed miracles-including the cure for cancer, using Cylon DNA.
There are 12 models just like the 12 disciples.

"

At the very least, we know now that balter is a clone, with downloaded memories.

Quote :
"I think Gaius Baltar is the Cylon god, and the granddaddy of human-looking Cylon "cyberbiology".

I speculate that he is much older than he appears today. That he did groundbreaking Cybernetic research before the end of the first Colonial/Cylon conflict. That he perfected 40 years ago the method of "wetware" imprinting and replication that is the basis for all Cylon organic technology and the basis for conciousness transfer. In doing this he threw in his lot with those of the Cylons by agreeing to a Faustian bargain: surrenderring his humanity to achieve virtual immortality by his methods of copying his conciousness and transferring it to an "limitless" number of succeeding generations of Cylons.

I also speculate that he perfected some of the "grace notes" in Cylon organic mind control: selective memory erasure (the basis for "sleeper" agents, and his own present incarnation on Gallactica/Kobol), a reliable method of human cloning combined with embedded programmable conciousness. A way to "meld" or combine conciousness (which explains internal Six), although this is reserved for exceptional godlike personages, such as instances of himself.

He's effectively transmuted himself into a parody of the Christian trinity being father, son, and guiding spirit of the newest and deadliest generation of Cylons. The biggest objection to this line of thinking is that Baltar's ego is so large, it's hard to imagine him tolerating multiple simultaneous instances or manifestations of himself. I would think he could tolerate only one version with full knowledge of "the way things really work". The "original" Baltar, an older man than the one we've met is who I think is the Cylon god, narcisisitic enough to allow other manifestations of himself to exist, but cautious and jealous enough to limit their knowledge, memories, and even the boundaries of their own conciousness.

All this is "blue sky" guessing at this point, not nearly enough facts to back it up. I wouldn't be shocked if the story played out this way, though."

Uh......

Think about this logically here before you go insulting people. The crew of the Pegasus is pretty fucking docile. They didn't revolt against an Admiral who shot her fucking XO in the CIC in front of God and everybody. What in the Christ makes you think they're going to revolt against someone who will be a lot calmer?

and I'm torn on if Baltar is a cylon or not. I don't know how he could survive a nuclear shockwave without being downloaded to a new body, but if he was downloaded, that means there was no need for Number 6 to seduce him in the first place.

Thus bringing up the point - why would the Cylons want two Cylons to fall in love, since they can't physically reproduce anyway?

And why would they want to hide the true nature of the two from each other? A cylon that for all intents and purposes knows he's human falls in love with a cylon that knows she's a cylon but wishes she were human?

You didnt read this theory. Balter is a perfect clone of the baltar that created the biocylons, but some of his memories have been erased. He thinks he is 100 percent human, that was the plan of the original baltar. God didnt create jesus and give him knowledge that he was god, he was sent clueless. Balter's 6 is there is there to guide him. Thus the trinity: father, son and holy spirit (six in the brain).

The cyclon God, original balter, could easily insure that they know only what he would want them to know about him, or about his 'son'.

Ron Moore said at the end of season 1, he almost had balter meet God (in the theatre), who was going to be played by balter.

Again, we KNOW baltar was killed on caprica. There had to be some divine intervention, becuase the cylons dont know that hes a cylon, just as you said, there would be NO reason to have to suiduce him.

its also clear now that the president is a cylon, probably, once it is revealed, she will become a 'devil' figure, for reasons which fit into the analogy. she will probably be an antagonist for at least an entire season. she is suppose to lead everyone to a new home....also, her blood is compatible with baby cylon blood.
