If being "done" is 14/29 for 144 and 2 INTs over a little more than 2 quarters
Then what, exactly, is 13/32 for 122 and 2 INTs over 4 quarters?

Dude, Green Bay is a complete disaster right now. It's not fair to him or the other players on that team to use this season as a barometer of Favre's success. Sure he tries to shoulder the load during interviews and whatnot, but it wouldn't make sense for him to come out like "yeah the other 52 guys pretty much suck" 12/20/2005 5:38:48 PM |

fair enough, let's use the past five seasons or so.
because thats about how long Favre has been playing poorly or at least semi-poorly
Besides, the Falons are just as bad defensively and have WORSE WR's than GB and Vick is still above .500 while Favre is 'leading' one of the worst teams in the league. I didn't even know it was possible to look bad against the Ravens. 12/21/2005 1:55:03 AM |

^^Atlanta has minimal injuries.
Vick still has his best reciever(Crumpler) and 2 healthy backs(one a pro-bowler). Favre has lost ALL of his decent RB's, his best WR, and his best TE.
Don't tell me Vick has the same supporting cast as Favre, that is an absurd comment. Vick has more talent around him and can't produce anything. 12/25/2005 12:32:36 AM |

I think the real question here is HOW THE HELL did Vick get named to the Pro bowl team. In the NFC he is 11th in yards, 9th in TDs, 9th in INTs and 13th in QB rating but somehow he is one of the top three QB's. Farve has thrown TWICE the INTs Vick has and he still has a higher QB rating.
The only thing I can figure out is that the NFL is using affirmative action in picking QBs for the Pro Bowl. 12/25/2005 2:27:15 AM |

Oh my god you guys are fucking insane. Vick was pretty damn good AGAIN today.
What else do you want him to do??? He scored a bunch of points on the Bucs, he is NOT the one who gave up 180 rushing yards. This is the 2nd time this season he has beaten the Bucs in the 4th quarter only to see his defense blow the lead in the last minute.
You guys want Vick to be bad so you just completely ignore everything he does out there each and every week. This has gotten WAY out of hand.
First Drive: The Falcons picked up two first downs before offensive pass interference stalled the drive. That is a good job.
Second drive: The Falcons drove 80 yards on 5 plays for a touchdown to open up a 7-0 lead. Vick was outstanding on the drive which culminated in a TD pass.
Third drive: On 2nd and 10, Vick fumbled on a play which was reviewed and then upheld. Vick's only turnover of the day.
Fourth drive: Vick was sacked on 3rd and long by one of the premeire sack specialists in the game Simeon Rice. This happens sometimes.
Fifth drive: Vick led the Falcons 53 yards down the field for a touchdown to tie the score 14-14. Vick had an unbelievable series which included a 15 yard strike on 2nd and 10, a FOURTH DOWN conversion completion, a 10 yard completion to keep the drive alive after a holding penalty, and an 8 yard touchdown pass. This was Vick's 2nd TD pass of the game.
Sixth drive: The Falcons received the ball at the 13 yard line with 50 seconds left in the half. They ran some safe plays, no one was open so they took the chip shot field goal to take a 17-14 lead on the road at halftime vs the Buccaneers (the team that thrashed the Panthers)/b].
HALFTIME
In the 2nd half Tampa Bay made several adjustments [b]because Vick tore them a new asshole in the first half.
First drive: On third down Vick rushed for fourteen yards to pick up the first down. On the following third down Atlanta forgot to block which led to an amazing escape by Vick but he was unable to find an open receiver so Atlanta was forced to punt. Atlanta's o-line is not yet prepared for the Bucs D.
Second drive: Atlanta starts with the ball at the 11 yard line. Vick completes an 8 yard pass to bring up 3rd and short and he runs for the first down. Huge first down. On the next set of downs the Atlanta o-line is unable to produce positive yards for a screen pass or designed draw play and Atlanta is forced to punt. A good job by Vick to get a first down deep in his own territory.
Third drive: Michael Vick launches a 40 yard deep ball to Roddy White in the end zone for a TOUCHDOWN!!!! Nope, Roddy White drops the touchdown and Atlanta is forced to punt. You can hear general managers across the league say "How are we going to stop this guy when his receivers are no longer named Roddy White and Brian Finneran?!".
Fourth drive: Vick's best drive of the day comes with the game tied at 17-17 with 9 minutes left in the game. He leads a 79 yard drive culminating in a two yard Touchdown run by TJ Duckett. Highlights of the drive include: Mike Vick scrambling on 3rd and 7 to pick up a first down and keep the drive alive; and a 37 yard pass to Michael Jenkins to set them up 1st and goal from the two yard line. Amazing drive by Vick with the game on the line. Once again, Vick only needs his defense to hold up the way Tom Brady's did every week for four years.
But alas, it doesn't happen. Atlanta allows a 65 yard drive in 4 minutes which is culminated by a 6 yard TD RUN on 4th down. Absolutely pathetic.
Vick hangs his head and says "Wait until my team defense isn't a sieve and then lets see what happens".
Overtime:
1st drive: Quote : | "Atlanta starts with the ball on the 18 yard line. They call two run plays and set up a 28 yard field goal to win the game. Unfortunately for Vick, the kick is blocked and Vick is robbed of a victory for the 2nd time today." |
2nd drive: Vick starts with the ball at the 20 and immediatley throws a 27 yard completion to Alge Crumpler. On the next set of downs premeire sack artist Simeon Rice comes unblocked and gets Michael Vick to stall the drive.
Atlanta pins Tampa Bay inside their ten yard line and eagerly awaits good field position on the next drive.
It doesn't happen because Atlanta defense sucks and allows Tampa to run almost 6 minutes off the clock and pin Atlanta back to the 16 yard line.
At this point a tie does not do Atlanta much good, so they aggressively go for the TD and come up empty. Atlanta d comes up big once again for Tampa fans and allows two easy completions to set up a game winning field goal by the Bucs.
Vick's final line includes a 61.5% completion percentage, 63 rushing yards (5.7 per carry), 2 Touchdown passes, only ONE turnover, a dropped 40 yard TD pass, and a 38 yard completion that set up what would have been the game-winning touchdown in the 4th quarter.
A terrific day by anyone's standards, but when you dig deeper and realize that Tampa Bay posted 174 rushing yards, 444 total yards, with a time of possesion over 41 minutes it becomes apparent that what Vick accomplished was nothing short of spectacular.
It's no wonder Vick is headed to so many Pro Bowls.12/25/2005 6:57:49 AM |

It's pretty apparent that Vick bashers just don't understand football.
Matt Hasslebeck was a better QB than Vick this year.
I mean he really had an outstanding season.
However, there wasn't another QB in the NFC who was as good as Vick was this season.
Eli's passer rating was a mere one point higher than Vick and Eli doesn't have any rushing yards to offset what Vick did on the ground.
Vick has as many yards as Delhomme in 1.5 less games and he has FIVE less turnovers.
This really isn't even up for debate anymore.
Vick had a good season.
He wasn't GREAT like he was last season, but he was certainly good.
That's why the players elected him to the Pro Bowl.
Sure, the players make some mistakes at some positions by voting on reputation. These are positions like offensive line and defensive back where a player's worth isn't easily quantifiable.
They do not often make mistakes at positions like QB where it is very obvious who is good and who isn't.

Atlanta's defense is ranked 23nd against the run.
Atlanta is 8-7.
Now let's look at the nine teams ranked behind Atlanta in run defense.
What would you guess their combined record against other teams is?
Did you guess above .500?
Wrong.
Their combined record is 20-82.
There's an old adage in football that goes like this:
Quote : | " You can't win games if you can't stop the run... unless you have Vick, in which case you have a fighting chance to make the playoffs" |
Now if you listen closely ladies, this thread is playing my fight song.

Well I guess I dont understand football because when I look at these stats I wouldn't pick Vick and how does Vick have as many yards as Delhomme. (3258 to 2297) Obviously Hasselbeck and Delhomme deserved spots but the third spot should be up for grabs.
Brunell: total yards 3011 td 22 passer rating 87.8
Farve: total yards 3368 td 19 passer rating 73.1
Bledsoe: total yards 3447 td 24 passer rating 86.3
Manning: total yards 3640 td 24 passer rating 75.1
Vick: total yards 2894 td 21 passer rating 74.1
Now i know none of you are allowed to like Eli but himself, Bledsoe and Brunell got screwed. They all have better numbers and there teams are going to finish with better records. Not to mention that McNabb and Warner both threw for atleast 300 more yards than Vick in 4 less gam

Favre has been to the show, and Favre has won the show. Vick will never make it to the show, nor will he win it.
And yeah, Vick isn't close to Delhomme in passing yards, I don't know where rally came up with that statistic, I mean maybe if you ADD in Vick's rushing yards he gets close, but he still won't have as many yards. Plus like you said, you can't look at statistics alone, you have to look at the team record and stuff. And Delhomme has his team in playoff position.
And yes Brunell > Vick this year, yard wise, winning wise, etc. Eli could have possibly gotten in over him, but I think Brunell got the biggest shaft in that debate.
Hasselback > Delhomme & Brunell > Eli & Vick
You can't still be arguing Vick's dominance can you? We argue statistics and you whine and say we have to look at records. We argue records and you whine and say we can't use that either. What should we use to measure it now? Jersey sells? Athleticism? Just because he's the better athlete doesn't mean he's the better QB, it should just help him avoid pressure and get the ball off, and it does, he just doesn't throw it on target for some reason, haha. 12/27/2005 6:32:29 PM |
