^what the heels slander us with changes with the wind, this year the hot button is the schedule, last year it was the out-of-state recruiting, it has been academics, facilities, campus, girls, etc. in the past.

at least we just call them gay fairweather fans year in and year out....consistency is important

We just got a commit from DL Curtis Bryant. Bryant hails from South Miami Senior High School. He had offers from Memphis and South Florida as well and attended our camp.

Quote :
"At 6-2, 270 pounds, 5.0-second speed in the 40 and a bench press of 355 pounds, Bryant has been a leader on both sides of the line for South Miami. He doubles as an offensive guard and defensive tackle."

I hope we can get Rodney Cox. On Scout it lists us as the only school he has "High Interest" in. He's 6-6 216, and would probably make a great WR based on his size. Who knows, if the rest of our QB's stink we could possibly throw him in there since he has experience as a QB. I'd love for him to turn out like a Calvin Johnson or other protypical tall receiver.

Does anyone know how we stand with WR Jay Smith? Haven't really heard much on where he's leaning as of late.

there's a teammate of Linwan Euwell's that would more than likely commit if we offered him. his name is Sam Battle, he's a 5'-10" 235 lbs . he's supposed to be one of the top LB's in the state. having him and Linwan on the same team would probably be pretty good, b/c of the already built in chemistry they'd have as teammates in HS.

Sam is on the left, and Linwan is on the right in this pic

Offensive tackle and guard. We suck there so we need help, plus, these guys usually arent highly rated out of high school anyway. I think this kid was injured junior year....really wanted State to offer and we did, so he committed.

NC State quarterback commitment Russell Wilson is off to a blistering start, as he has led Richmond (VA) Collegiate to a 3-0 start. On the season, Wilson has completed 76-of-105 passes (72.4%) for 1,139 yards. He has thrown 15 touchdown passes and just one interception, and Wilson has added 200 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

Virginia's most prolific passer, and one of the top quarterbacks on the prep level, the 5-foot-11, 190-pound standout discussed his season, recruitment, and thoughts on NC State with Pack Pride.

What do you think of their situation? You mentioned that you watched the game this past weekend. What do you think of their offensive situation?
I look at it as a great opportunity for me. There are great quarterbacks already there, and they have great receivers, running backs, and a good offensive line. They have great coaches in coach Trestman and coach Amato.

It's a great situation for me. I can go down there and compete. That's what I love doing... competing and getting better and helping the team get better. I want to help the team win as many games as we can... win an ACC championship and hopefully a national championship."

That plus he is black probably means Wide Reciever. We need Rodney Cox too. Can't ever get enough good athletes.

Barrett played QB in high school so he could follow that example.

A lot of recruiting experts said if he was just 2 inches taller he would have been a 5* recruit at QB. Wilson will play both baseball and football here. Rodney Cox is definitely a WR recruit, or at least that's how they list him on the recruiting websites.

all of the sudden we're overloading qbs like we've overloaded runningbacks, it seems.

we will have next year a evans (rs jr), burke (rs fr), beck (rs so) and this wilson character as a freshman (not to mention marcus stone will still be around). hopefully ONE of those 4 will get the job done.

^If we're under the scholarship limit and not kicking kids off the teams like a school down the road, I could give a shit less if we load up at tailback and qb...those are two pretty damn important positions, and we still have room to recruit the other positions.

It's not really "overloading" to have three QBs competing, and a fourth redshirting. If anything, the last couple of years taught us some lessons about not having quality depth at that spot.

both our stock of qbs and rbs would do a lot better if we recruited an offensive line, but you know, gotta take what we can get.

Of our 13 commits, 4 are OL and 1 is a TE. some of the ones listed as defensive linemen may end up on the offensive line. also Micah Grimes a 6'5" 285 lb offensive lineman has us in the lead. he was at the BC game, and was quoted as saying "It was awesome."

In that highlight video his o-line looked terrible in high school, so perhaps compared to what he's use to our OL does look good.

I think we should recruit Offensive lineman as a top thing. Of course they are not flashy or whatever, but the key to a good team starts at the o line

There'd be tons of competition and we have absolutely no connections there.

Recruit rankings mean jack shit. If seeing 1-star recruits McCargo and Lawson go in the first round didn;t sink in then I don't know what will.

^just to back that point up a little

Burt Reed just committed to the Gators, and went from a 1* kid to a 4* kid overnight. no matter what happens on the recruiting trail, the scouts are going to assign stars based on where a kid signs. if he signs with Georgia, Miami, USC, Auburn, Florida State, Florida, Ohio State, Michigan, etc. he is going to be a 4* or 5* these days.

look what happened to Justin Burke last year, He was a 4* kid as a junior, and to start his senior year, his stats increased, and he through for eleventy billion touchdowns as a senior, but after a commit to the pack, he dropped to 3*.

this type of shit needs to be stopped....they should just rank the top 200 kids, and have the rankings stay the same the whole year, allow one change after their junior season. for all of the kids that are not ranked, or were not know about/good enough to be ranked, just call them "unranked" and let that be that. with the recruiting services, and ESPN's favoritism....if we keep going like we are going, there are going to be only 10 teams in college football that anybody cares about, and the rest of us might as well form a new Division II

^Yeah Toney went from 5-Star to 4-Star shortly after signing with us and they based it on his "poor performance" in some all-star game.

Justin Burke dropped from 4* to 3* after a state championship and eleventy billion yards and a 9-1 or better td-int rating.

Burke dropped a star during the summer before his senior year and a couple of weeks before he committed to us. The dude who ranked him 4* said he did so primarily based off of word of mouth without seeing any video (that says a lot right there) but decided to downgrade him after seeing his junior video. He didn't get downgraded because he committed to State, but the reason he did was just about as pathetic.

[Edited on October 12, 2006 at 11:49 PM. Reason : Baker dropped a star on Rivals - 1 yard on 2 carries in the Army AA game]

if he doesn't want to play here, that's fine. i'd rather have the ones who are devoted WOLFPACKERS than someone who doesn't care about the school. I mean, we were one if not the first school to follow and offer him to which he committed. After one great combine, all of a sudden other schools are interested, ego gets big, and he wants to go somewhere else??? We don't need that type of player.

He'll end up at NCSU or Clemson.
