maybe you mean, spacey was just kinda likable and not casted correctly?

the problem is that without spacey we wouldnt have gotten the awesomely delivered lines....like "WRONG""

well billions is unrealistic - there are only 7 billion on the entire planet - he wanted to knock off part of america - his idea wouldn't have killed billions first of all

i think he the part was casted correctly - the entire movie was a bit dark it seemed but it wasn't around him - i expected lex luther to be portrayed as more powerful/smarter/darker

well, the entire lex arc was fairly bizarre....the idea that you could sell real estate on barren crsyal magic shit....you just had to let that shit slide

crystal + water = city ? ok, just bizzare.

Or that, somehow, by virtue of creating it you could claim that it was yours.

Lex Luthor, along with his skanky girlfriend and four prison goons, will defend the entirety of America 2!

the more you explore the lex arc the more you realize how stupid it is.....the point is, his fucking insane and evil. nothing new or interesting or special.

^yes, and in tv canon. i was speaking to movie canon -- it just wouldnt work.

Okay, be honest.

When you saw Parker Posey running around, screaming and screaming about her brakes being cut, did anybody else think, "Hey, it's Margot Kidder!"

I'm dreading working saturday night door, wednesday was bad enough (although i found 6 bucks cleaning one of the theaters). I think i'll watch it again sunday before i clock in, try to pick out any little things in the background. I know my friend wasn't satisfied until perry white uttered "great ceasar's ghost" towards the end.

I thought the same thing about lex's plot, the only thing i can think of is that given enough time to develop the crystals also would have given lex kryptonian technology, or he some shit like that. I also thought the "twist" was a little too obvious, he was only gone 5 years, so louis would have had to have moved on like 20 minutes after he left.

oh, and somebody needs to make a pinball louis game, i'd play it

Do not read this if you have not seen the movie---SPOILER WARNING---I did not like this movie. Both of my kids thought that it was boring. It was slow and did not have enough action. Why was Superman portrayed as a super stalker ex boyfriend hovering outside lois lanes house using his xray vision and hearing to spy? Superman would never do that. Why didnt Lois tell Supes it was his kid right away? Does Richard White know the kid is not his? Lois denied ever having sex with Superman when she was talking about the article title "I spent a Night w/ Superman". If she didnt tell him than that is just wrong. Where was the big end of the movie fight scene? Supes gets chumped and stabbed in the back, then throws an island into space? Lame, lame lame. Lets see a battle. Brainiac, Lex in the purple armor- something. The special effects were great but face it Superman stopped a car, lifted a plane and bullets bounced off his chest. this was in every superman movie- i hoped to see something different. Parker Poseys character was a retread of the villianess in the first superman movie and Spacey was portraying Luthor as a greedy conman, not the brilliant scientist out to "protect" the earth from the alien threat. Spacey was acting like Gene Hackman instead of giving us a briliant dark luthor that the movie should have presented. Lets face it-he wants to build an island and rent out apartments? with billions dead who would live there and how would he defend it? Sorry that this is so long but i really wanted this movie to be good. I and the 8 people I went with were very dissapointed.

I have a feeling that those that dislike it the first time around will probably have it grow on them by the time it's out on DVD. Seems to have that kind of potential. I'm really looking forward to seeing it on the regular movie screen. Probably will this weekend. Then by the time it's on DVD I'll be looking forward to holding a screening for friends on our big screen at home.

That's not really true. Superman's always behaved in ethically shady ways, whether it's being a vigilante or using his powers to enable his career as a reporter.

She wrote that article in the first movie, and she hadn't slept with him then. She didn't sleep with him until the second movie, so she wasn't lying.

So they chose one version of Luthor over another. Big whoop. You can't have it all. They could have gone with Luthor the scientist. They could have gone with Luthor the President. They went with the Luthor that was already established in the first two movies, since this is a sequel.

This is supposed to be the same Luthor that wanted to nuke California into the ocean to create beachfront property that he owned. What did you expect? A green armored Luthor attacking Superman and then for Krypto the super dog to fly down and save the fucking day?

Nah superman would not have trouble lifting an island/mountain. he did it in the comics all the time...

Hell, in the comics sometimes he would fly INTO the sun to get maximum power! he's a badass!

before he lifted the mountain of kryptonite, he flew above the clouds and absorbed a lot of the sun's energy... he did this in the comics when he needed an extra "spurt" of energy....

and as someone else said, that's why he almost died doing it.
if it had been a normal mountain he could have lifted it to space, gone back and got 5 more just like it, and still not break a sweat

froshkiller- Richard asked lois if she ever slept with superman and if she ever was in love with him she says no twice. this is a lie right? As far as the timing of the article she denies having slept with him period. she did not say well i slept with him later but not at the time i wrote the article. Lois is portrayed as shady and somewhat of a whore. I wouldnt say that superman has always been shady. He is defined in th DC universe comic book world as the "big blue boy scout". I have been collecting and reading superman comics since 1984. (yeah I am old) I have read thousands of issues with superman in them since I have worked at a comic store and a video store that sold comics, and I have never seen superman portayed in stalker type manner as was in the movie. Maybe I am nitpicking but i loved X- men 2 and expected alot from Singer in this movie since he is a huge Superman fan. I have since come to realize that Singer is more of a Richard Donner fan. But different Strokes for different folks- Oh yeah Superman's son is a murderer.

yeah i pay attention, i pay attention to the point that i expect a certain level of continuity in the characterization of a main charatcer, especially one that has been in the pop culture pantheon for decades. Look i am sure that the movie will make a gajillion dollars and I understand that some people love it. I sure didnt.

Lois wasn't being a "whore", she was being conflicted. She had a new life with this new guy, and now she doesn't know what to do. In a knee-jerk response to this (in order to preserve her stability, probably aided by the fact she has a kid), she decides to lie about it.

It's called being a realistic character

if you tell one guy he is the dad of your kid when you know in fact another guy is- then you are at best a liar and in my book a whore. saying that she did it because she was "conflicted" and wanted to keep her"stability" is pretty weak. Imagine if you raised a kid for five years thinking it was yours only to find out it was another guys, you would consider that whoreish. Lois needs to take that kid on Maury and have a paternity test. On another note-in 2009 when supes 2 comes out what do you think will happen to Richard White? Killed off or what?

^ Dude this movie isn't intended to set up a bunch of role models

the fact is, people DO this stuff. she's a realistic character. i'm sorry she doesnt live up to your, or somebody else's model of a perfect woman. that's not what Lois is supposed to be.

Not sure if he'll die or not though.

where was it ever said that richard thought jason was his own? he was there for him when he was a baby, he could be his "dad" even knowing he isn't his "father"

about the mountain, i guess it just seems to me like supes is supposed to lose his powers around kryptonite but manages to lift a giant piece of it into space. while he has a shard imbedded in his back from the "knife" no less.

Now I didn't read the superman comics, but I think giving him some humanistic traits make him a more dynamic character.

Actually, right after the "stalker" scene he flys up and reflects on what his biological father, Jor-El, says "...even though you have been raised as a human, you are not one of them."

^^ thats my interpetation -- he probably at least subcon. knows he isnt his biological father.

lois would have had to sleep with him WITHIN 4 DAYS (approx. max window of ovultion) after superman left in order for there to be a real mystery, likely not the case here. hes probably never done the math, 8 months .... 9 months.... becuase he doesnt want to know.

For the record, it's entirely possible that Lois didn't know who the father was until Luthor brought the kryptonite towards him, so she might not have known or at the very least doubted it since the kid was sick all the time. Even then, it was hard to tell in the movie what was going on, because whether the kryptonite was near him or not he always looked pale and ready to pass out. Up until the piano, I thought the entire thing was just a coincidence.

And has no one thought of the fact that she could have carried the kid for more than 9 months? I mean it is the child of an alien so she could have gone for months without knowing she was pregnant.
