THATS MY POINT. the situation is completely unkown, and thats not the way it had to be if we parted with sendek in a more organic way.

The unknown is the best option sometime.

I'd rather go out and look for a one night stand than hook up with my ugly neighbor.

It might work out and it might not, but at least I can look myself in the mirror the next morning.

Herb is a spineless douche bag.

He will never win. Accept that and move on.

at the least

he will not take it jailhouse-shower style from the refs

and he'll get just a tad bit more fired up for in-state oponents than Herbie the lovebug did

For comparisons sake, Herb couldnt win a GAME in the NBA.

The players would mutiny within 6 practices.

They woudlnt break 70 points in a scrimmage game.

you said he couldn't win A game, as in one single game.....

i took that as an attempt at humor because he could definitely win a few games, what with the Princeton O and solid defense

Thurl Bailey was on Lowe's 92-93 team? That had to be a little weird--your former teammate is now your coach...

[/off-topic]

I agree with the "big risk, big upside" sentiment of this hire. Given the circumstances, I think it's about the best we were going to do. Hopefully it'll work out well. And even though I was definitely a Herb supporter, I'll be behind Lowe 100% to succeed. Just for the record.

I mean i dont think he'd go 0-82. Maybe like 1-18 before he was fired...

But for starters no general manager (not even Isiah Thomas) would give Herb a shot to coach in the pros.

If you combine Herb's disregard for shooting free throws, his inability to produce good shots within the confines of a 35 second shot clock, and inability to draw up game ending plays...

He'd have his head handed to him...

There's a good chance the ball wouldnt even make its way inside the three point line now that his team would be dealing with a 24 second shot clock.

i'm not saying he would ever be given an NBA job, but he wouldn't lose every game...

back on topic:

whoever said that Lowe would bring in detroit's defensice tenacity, well he's only been their asst. coach this year, not under Larry Brown who was their defensive guru and helped them established that defensive fire. the defense that that team exemplifies is more or an extension of ben wallace anyway

We're not an NBA team that just hired Herb Sendek. So these comparisons are dumb as fuck.

Does anyone actually read what rallydurham says in his posts?

We led the country in free throw % and we were strong last year in that.

But none of that was Herb enforcing it.

I'm not happy about this hire...he has not proven anything and the NBA is a completely different game than college so we really have no clue how he will do...i mean he may be a great coach but lots of people could potentially be a great coach

That being said give the man a few years bc next year is going to be rough bc despite what people say our team is extremely weak compared to other teams in the ACC

It's Sidney not Sydney.

Plz to learn that. Don't look stupid.

Herb coached here 10 years and people still spelled it Sendeck. (Mostly Bashers though).

Good point ballinlb, I think Sydney will need atleast 3 full seasons to get going and by his 4TH FULL SEASON, everyone will know what kind of assets he truly brings to the table. Now, all I ask is , WOLFPACK FANS-give him TIME to work his mojo!! Again, GO PACK!

I supported Herb and I was really sad to see him go.

That said, I'll support Lowe and only hope that the transition won't be as nasty as it looks. Hopefully he'll have us somewhat on track in the next couple of years. Hopefully we'll be able to get some of those recruits back, since he has NBA experience.

"Slackerb" your a fucking retard...how can being "Black Coach" be a negative....ummm hello look at the % of players playing college basketball over the past decade? Mike Davis, John Thomspson Sr, and the III, and I could go on and on...., quality recruits are going to look at his experience, what he brings to the table, the venue the Pack plays in, our fan base....Im guessing you were throwing in the race card to be funny, it's too bad you were even accepted into NCSU at all-you fucking disgrace to the student body!

I don't want to start an argument but since 1984 the only black coaches to win the NCAAs are Nolan Richardson (Out of coaching) and Tubby Smith (Won with Pitino's players).

Lets see. How hard is it to win a championship to begin with?

What's the ratio of black coaches to white?

2 black coaches to win the championship in 20 years is an accomplishment, if you ask me.

It's good to know the ratio of white and black coaches are equal or that it is even easy to make it to the tournament.

The ACC has 6 black coaches now:

Paul Hewitt
Dave Leitao
Frank Haith
Oliver Purnell
Leonard Hamilton
Sidney Lowe

That is half of the league.

Point being blacks are slowly making it equal

It's the whole generalizing a whole race based on the qualifications of a few, b/c I would not say
ohh White Coaches are sucking b/c Dave Odom didnt take SC to the NCAA tourney this past season".
What one coach of one race does has no barings whatsoever on another coach of the same race, it's just ludicrous....when's Lowe's tenure at State is done(which hopefully wont be for a long, long time), no one will compare him to Richardson of Arkansas or Hamilton at FSU...just the prior coaches before him at NCSU....the good and the bad ones.

hope this isn't [old]

Quote :
"Regina Davis, the mother of N.C. State signee Larry Davis, said N.C. State director of NCAA compliance Jon Fagg called the family Wednesday evening to say he was optimistic that the Wolfpack's new coach would call either Thursday night or Friday morning to speak with Davis in person. Fagg, who didn't tell the Davises who the new coach would be, declined to comment.

Told the new coach was expected to be Lowe, Regina Davis said out of all the names that came up during N.C. State's 34-day coaching search, Lowe sounded like one of the best.

"I probably know more about Sidney Lowe seeing him behind the Detroit Pistons bench than I knew about any of these other coaches," she said.
