You do realize that I have Eli Manning starting, right?
And I'm in a 14-team Yahoo! league. Here's who's left at RB. Right now I have LJ and Chester Taylor from the Vikes, and I got Duce Staley as backup, but he might not even make the team now.
Here's the top 10 left: G. Jones- Jax V. Haynes- Pitt B. Calhoun- Det. M. Jones-Drew- Jax D. Blaylock- NYJ K. Faulk- NE M. Bennett- KC J. Norwood- Atl L. Toefield- Jax M. Pittman- TB
I've shopped Leinart around, and noone wants him, tho people are chomping at the bit for Rivers and I'm positive I could get a great back for him. I mean, unless Eli goes down w/ an injury, I'm set at QB w/o Rivers.8/31/2006 1:35:13 AM |

I didn't see you had Eli, just saw that one post you made.
Then yeah shop Rivers around, but get a better back than Jamal Lewis. I don't know what to ask for because I don't know who needs what in your league.
Look into just picking up V. Haynes, Pitt likes the run-by-committee, and he's likely to share time with Parker.

^^you should look into Lundy for the Texans, Toefield from the Jags (now that G. Jones is out for the season and Freddy will get injured), Travis Henry (he wont be starting, but Chris Brown is injury prone), and other like that.
In a 14 man league, making the move before the move (picking up a backup who could start if the #1 goes down) is usually the difference maker in a great season.

not true.
Henry is the backup
Quote : | "Craig Tapper, of Titans Online, reports Tennessee Titans head coach Jeff Fisher quickly squashed an internet rumor that he had decided on RB Travis Henry as the team's starting running back. Rumors began circulating yesterday on CBS Sportsline that Henry had overtaken RB Chris Brown as the Titans' starting running back. Fisher said Wednesday, Aug. 30, that Brown was still the starter. Brown said he had not heard about the news. "I didn't even hear about it," Brown said. "You all are telling me something new. I had no idea about that. I didn't hear anything about it." Brown will start the team's preseason finale followed by Henry and rookie RB LenDale White." |

I might go ahead and pick up hayes, but im gonna shop Rivers around as well. Here's who I might be able to get, based on who would probably take a good QB in Rivers right now:
-Wali Lundy -Warrick Dunn -Steven Jackson -Willis McGahee -Brian Westbrook -Corey Dillion -Jamal Lewis -Ahman Green
Both Jackson and McGahee are on a team starting Trent Green, w/ John Kitna as a backup. They're my top targets right now.

no way in hell someone would trade you Jackson or McGahee for Rivers...same goes for Dunn and Westbrook. Unless you play in a league full of idiots, which could very well be the case.
You'd be better off packaging Rivers with Chester Taylor for one of those bigger name backs 8/31/2006 12:51:56 PM |

ok so i had third pick
WR went FASTTTTT, Peyton was my first choice. left me having to get sleepers or unknown starters though for wideouts, also RB's were first to go and I got lucky gettin Edge and Lamont...for some reason the people forgot about Lamont
what do I need to change, obviously probably need a good solid Wide out...im set at at QB and D and Kicker...I think
1. (3) P. Manning 2. (14) E. James 3. (19) L. Jordan 4. (30) Sa. Moss 5. (35) D. Stallworth 6. (46) D. McNabb 7. (51) P. Burress 8. (62) C. Dillon 9. (67) J. Horn 10. (78) S. McNair 11. (83) J. ^ I think people just don't trust Oakland's line or that Aaron Brooks can be enough of a threat to take pressure off of Jordan.
However, they are 4-0, it doesn't mean too much in preseason but it does show that they can put points up on first string D (although the teams they played, aside from philly, aren't that great). So I figure he will end up doing pretty well.
At least I hope so, because I have him too.
he was my 2nd pick in a 14 team league 8/31/2006 2:01:57 PM |

yea i have gotten him 3 years in a row and been one of my biggest guys every year, the media just doesnt get on him like tehy do other guys, same with Tiki Barber.
I know I did REAL well with what i drafted and when I got it, I can tell I did but for my Wideouts I think i need more...i have potential just nothing I see as a SET big timer. otherwise i had an incredibly good draft. 8/31/2006 2:14:54 PM |

Last year when Jordan moved to Oakland into a starting role the experts began hyping him up to be the big sleeper back that could pay huge dividends, and then last year he just never put up those kind of numbers so he slid down a lot. 8/31/2006 2:23:07 PM |

depends on what ur league emphasizes...we have alot of point given to receptions and recieving yards and hes a big play when it comes to routes and all, he gets alot of catches a game actually so it helps havin him get those big numbers in my league 8/31/2006 2:36:21 PM |

Shop santana moss.
he scored 10 TD's last year in a total of 6 games.
He had three multiple TD games and one game with 3 TD's
They added more weapons and Brunell is hurting (not to mention [old])
He WILL NOT have as good of year as he did last year. I dont like him as a number one WR.
but overall, good draft.
You have earned the Guru's Seal of approval.
p.s. but remember to work on the WR's. If you have a redskins fan in your league, offer Santana to him for another top WR. Those 'skins fans think Moss is the second coming. Work it in your best interest 8/31/2006 2:47:34 PM |

I don't understand your strategy at all. You pass on a elite back (probably LT) to take Peyton and still end up with McNabb and McNair. Obviously Peyton is better, but McNabb is solid barring injury and LT is a fantasy beast. I hope some other guys in your league need a QB or that you start two QBs so that you can use those three to your advantage.8/31/2006 2:54:38 PM |
JT3bucky All American 23258 Posts user info edit post |
LT and LJ were gone, Alexander was the only one left and in our league QB's get alot of love
we only have 1 spot to open for them but I simply drafted McNabb as trade bait later in teh season as well as McNair, I figure someones QB goes down and then I can make some decent trades for him
I already have a trade on the table for Steve Smith for McNabb and Dillon, depends on it the guy offers, he has Kitna as his QB 8/31/2006 2:57:21 PM |
rflong All American 11472 Posts user info edit post |
^ Ok well that changes my thinking some, but how could you pass on Alexander!? He only scored 28 TDs last year. If you're able to get Smith though, then you'll have a pretty sick team assuming Edge is Edge and Lamont lives up to the hype this year. 8/31/2006 3:02:39 PM |

So on my 14 team league I drafted my RB's and WR's pretty early, and left my QB until later, when I got two who I thought would put up solid, but not spectacular, numbers. I picked up Rivers in the 8th round (knew someone else wanted him, so I got him earlier than I wanted to) and Brad Johnson in the 11th.
So the question is, should I start Johnson the first few weeks, in case Rivers makes some noobish mistakes?
Also I got pretty lucky drafting Joe Horn and Frank Gore in the later rounds. Donte' Stallworth and Kevan Barlow both got traded afterwards, which made both players much more valuable. 8/31/2006 3:17:03 PM |

im just not a big Shaun guy...i think this year he wont have near the year he did
not to mention the Madden curse, and his left side of the line being replaced

I managed to get Tomlinson, Eli, and P-Riv on my team. obviously i'm starting Tomlinson.
in week 1, i'm at odds as to whether i should go with a more proven Eli against a good Indy defense, or Rivers against a seemingly much weaker Oakland defense.
also, my red-bloodedness wants to start Rivers, but i figured starting Tomlinson is enough Rivers exposure for the first week of his pro career, and that i should go with Eli.
thanks in advance for your advice. 9/1/2006 11:01:11 AM |

I picked a kicker so early because kickers are worth a lot in this league, a 40 yard FG is worth as much as a touchdown, and a 50 yard one is worth significantly more. I don't really like the rule, but I might as well take advantage of it by taking the highest scoring player in the leauge last year in Rackers.
And Vick was kind of a joke, I will probably drop him. 9/2/2006 3:41:23 PM |

ok, so i have LJ. would it be a good or bad idea to pick up his backup, micheal bennet, as a reserve? my #2 back at this point is Chester Taylor, and ive been shopping around for another big back and havent been able to land one. my only backup at this point is Haynes from Pitt. The rest of my team is rock solid, save the #2 starting back in Taylor.
